Went here hoping to get a pair of ON shoes for myself. Apparently they don't carry MEN sizes. Nothing larger than a 12 in the whole store. Sad selection if you wear a 13 and up. read more

I love that this business is locally owned, and the friendly employees always greet you when you walk in the door. They also continue to check on you the whole time you're there to see if you need anything or have questions. It is refreshing to shop in a store where you know the employees are there to help you and you're not left to fend for yourself; or walk around forever trying to find someone to answer a question! The couple of times I've had an issue with my shoes, and took them back, I feel like the ladies there have gone above and beyond to remedy the situation and that is truly appreciate! I have been in the market for comfortable shoes as I stand for long periods of time for work. Recently I broke my leg. It's a minor fracture so I can walk and stand on my leg according to my orthopedist as long as I have supportive shoes. Comfortable shoes have become a necessity at this point so I went on the hunt with a particular shoe in mind. I was recommended Phillips Shoes so I went in with the expectation of leaving with a new pair of much needed shoes. As I began to shop the sales attendant asked me what I was looking for. When I explained that I was really interested in a particular brand, she basically berated me for even considering it. She then took me around the whole store (keep in mind my leg is broken) and showed me shoes prefacing each shoe with, "I know you won't like these but..." She proceeded to give me her opinion that my doctor's recommendations were not correct and that I shouldn't be on my leg, and insisted on showing me shoes that she thought I should consider. When I suggested that perhaps I just browse, she said "Well you're going to have to hurry because we want to close soon." According to the store's sign, I had 45 minutes to shop. She then asked me where I work. When I told her, she told me that I didn't need professional looking shoes at my company. I eventually gave up, never tried anything on, and left feeling insulted - without a pair of shoes. The very next day, I went to a local outdoor shop, tried on the exact pair of shoes I went to try on at Phillips and 10 minutes later was out the door with a new pair of shoes. The sales attendant there was so nice, helpful, and answered all my questions about the shoes. It was almost as though she saw me come in, decided I wasn't going to be a reasonable shopper, and she decided that she would scurry me out. I have never been treated like that in any store. I realize I am not a shoe expert, but she isn't an orthopedist, doesn't work at my company, and clearly wasn't interested in helping me. I will never give them my business, and I have encouraged all of my friends to do the same. I shouldn't leave a store on the verge of tears. Do yourself a favor and go to a different store that wants your business, won't judge you, and will treat you with respect. read more

Went to Phillips, in the pouring rain, specifically to purchase a pair of Birkenstocks. The sales people are on commission, so you would think you could shop without attitude. There was a blonde, grouchy woman who was beyond rude. I hade a couple questions about European sizes, color, and style differences. Her response was, "whatcha see is whatcha get." I ended up walking back out into the rain, sat in my car, and ordered online from Nordstrom. Free shipping and free returns. So much for supporting the local Charleston economy! read more

My daughter recently shopped in the mount pleasant store. Looking for Birkenstocks. We found the sales lady rude and overbearing. the sales lady rolled her eyes when my daughter let her know we would reach out for assistance. I recently had surgery and sat in a chair while my daughter tried on shoes. The sales lady was so rude saying my daughter should have the chair since she was the one trying on shoes. We eventually found shoes for my daughter, but needed her size in another color. The sales lady did not offer to find them in another store. We ended up ordering from Zappos. Like the other reviewer mentioned, so much for supporting local economy. We won't go back. Phillips owners, fire the rude ladies and hire new people! read more

They carry a great selection of Clarks, Dansko, Merrell etc. I am a young elementary school teacher who was looking for a comfortable shoe with some style. I found my perfect shoe at this place! I placed them on hold because I wanted to finish shopping in town just to make sure, my mistake. Well, I didn't get back in time and had to head back home out of town. I could not find the shoe anywhere online in the exact color I wanted. So, I called Phillips Shoes and they were so nice to help me!
