Was here for a bachelorette service for 6 girls. They were accommodating, on time and ready for us. They gave the bride extra treatment and did a very nice job. I'm always suspect when pants that used to be $42 are now $90+ but they want to put them "on sale" for 40% off. No sale to me. Sport coats (not on sale) for $259 and only worth maybe half that from my prior purchases of the same brand. Yeah, I know inflation will be the alleged "reason" but it seems more like an excuse for greed, rather than good, clean business. Another problem that I encountered is the sale shoes which are marked as X% off, but the original price is not on the box. Thus, off you go to find a bar code reader. No one assisting on the entire second floor for men's clothing and shoes plus household products, the latter of which is now a large TV section. Dressing room to try on something? Find it yourself, and finally give up and go in the men's bathroom, as I did. Geeze! Finally, try to find someone to check you out and there is only one overworked but pleasant lady over by the blankets and sheets. A long, unpleasant time in what used to be a fairly good store, until the buyout a few years ago, leading to cutbacks in service and personnel, along with the above problems. read more

Nice Belk store with two floors; very big inside with lots of casual and dress clothes, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics and home goods. Prices can be high on some items, but they have sales and occasionally good clearance deals (I got a couple of nice vests for 75% off). The cashier who helped me was friendly and quick. It's one of the three main anchor stores in Citadel Mall, with the other two being Dillard's and Target. read more

This Belk is much larger than the one near my home and they have a room dedicated to clearance shoes which I really like. On my visit today, I didn't find anything though there were plenty of sales, there was nothing that I really needed. The store seemed a bit disorganized, limited sizes available and sales staff were few and far between. I noticed a sale on designer handbags, shoes and jeans and many sale items were priced an additional percentage off. Some departments are better than others. The fashion jewelry, women's shoes, and women's workout wear sections are good. They also offer a nice selection of handbags. I believe Belk caters towards a mature audience for the most part. The prices are on the higher side but they always run good deals and sales on the weekends. You can also find good deals in the clearance sections. Unlike Northwoods Mall, this location has a MAC counter. The customer service is hit or miss. read more

Belk is one of my favorite stores in the Citadel Mall. If you're not familiar with the brand, it's a department store based in Charlotte, and they are located all over the Southeast. Like Joseph S. mentioned, it's similar to a Macy's. Belk is my go-to for any clothing or home item I need. It's also fun to just stop in and look around, because you're bound to find something. The prices are in line with other department stores, but they have great sales- especially the "red dot clearance" and coupons that give you an extra percentage off. The ground level of Belk contains the makeup counters, shoe department, jewelry, purses, and women's clothing (juniors, petites, plus, and misses). There's also a fur section downstairs, which seems out of place in a city that never gets cold, but if you're going on a trip to a colder climate and need fur, Belk has it! Upstairs, you'll find the men's department, lingerie, kids, and the home area. Belk is centrally located in the mall (if you choose to actually go into the mall area), with lots of parking spaces behind the building. I've always had good service and no issues each time I've shopped here and would highly recommend it if you're looking for "Modern, Southern, Style". read more

There is something comforting about friendly and genuine customer service. Belk brings their Southern style of clothing and extends it to the service they provide back to their customers. There are ups and downs to that. The biggest downside is speed. Typically there are only 1 - 3 customer service specialists per floor and they don't rush through the payment process. They smile and chat, so if you are looking for a quick in and out, that could be an issue. I love that they trust you in the fitting rooms to not need an attendant, but there are no places to leave clothes that don't fit. The layout in the clothing section can get a little clustered. The makeup and new FAO Toys theme area is beautiful. Big win there. Overall, the prices are comparable to other retailers, the selection is strong with a heavy Southern focus and friendly service. read more

Belk Citadel Mall is one of my favorite places to shop for clothing in the Charleston area. I like the feel of the store as it feels like the only real big department store in Charleston with the open escalator and the cool marble floors.The store has a big selection for clothes and I can always find something that I want for a good price. I never seem to come away empty handed as they always have at least one item that catches my eye. The staff is also very helpful and friendly as you feel helped at all times.This Belk is awesome. read more

I really appreciate the extra attention that Sharma gave me. I was struggling ordering pick up online and had gotten treated like I was ignorant by another employee (hence the 4 stars). Sharma took the time with me over the phone, realized online ordering was truly down and it wasn't me being ignorant, even personally placed and walked my order out to me since I had been dealing with this for about 2+hrs. She was incredibly friendly despite me being frustrated (and probably not so friendly), and went above and beyond bringing my stuff to me in the pickup spot. I do a lot of shopping at this Belk so it has to be good! The sales ladies in the Women's department are outstanding. They are always friendly, and don't try to "reserve the customer for commissions sake." The store has a nice variety of merchandise; how everyone, the store is very dated and needs a facelift. I shopped with Estée Lauder today and they were out of half of what I was looking for. (Probably due to gift time) The shoe department could use more variety, and better organization. So This was my first time being in this Belk. For the most part, the service is pretty good, and it carries a lot of high end lines. The only thing is that while the lines are there, a lot of the selection and sizes are not. I was told it is because right now they are between seasons, and that could be why. Also, and maybe it's just me... the prices just seem SUPER high, especially for sale stuff. Liked the prices were increased to be reduced. I do wish they had more Men's clothing there. Oh well. I will preface this by admitting I went here on Black Friday. I was extremely pleased with the styles and variety. I found everything on my wish-list and was pulling things off rack after rack. The fitting rooms were spacious and plentiful. However, normally the prices would have been a bit on the high side. I got all the doorbuster sales so everything was 55% off. If you can go during a significant sale, I would highly recommend it for the selection and styles offered. The cashiers were also all in good humor and particularly friendly despite being exhausted. The one drawback was that the shoe department did not have as many sales or significant discounts, but I noticed this across all the department stores. Wish I could have done everything in one stop but I definitely couldn't afford the shoes. Still I absolutely loved everything I came away with. read more

Very disappointed to learn that this Belk location no longer carries Polo Ralph Lauren in the men's department. This could be such a nice Belk store and it needs to be much, much better given the area of town where it's located. The merchandise needs to be upgraded 110% because the clothes they carry simply do NOT at all cater to the people who live in the West Ashley area. A beautiful looking building with a very disappointing department store located in it. I hope and pray that their management will realize that they are marketing this store in a very wrong direction. read more

A quintessential southern store, what Macy's is to NYC, Belk is to the Southeast. My family and I really like shopping here. Everything they sell seems of a high quality. As one of the five anchor department stores at Citadel Mall, it's two stories and well designed and of a contemporary design. We've been going to Belk stores for as long as I remember. read more

I love Belk and often hit up Belk at Citadel Mall. I especially love their sales. I went in last week for something else and walked out with 3 pairs of pants, 3 golf shirts, and 3 t-shirts because it was buy 1 get 2 free sale. And good quality Lee and Izod type pants which had reasonable prices to start with. I don't shop too often and really love these type of deals where I knock it out of the park. My wife also got in on the action and we found a 30th anniversary ring. It was crazy the percentage that we ended up getting off the original price. I know nobody pays 100% price on jewelry but we got about 75-80% off. Happy Anniversary Baby! Our salespeople were all great and we will be back. read more

I went to Belk today to return a pair of sneakers. They did not take it back because I wore it once in which I ordered online in the size that I wear. The shoes did not start feeling uncomfortable until I wore them for a while. Don't get me wrong I understand their rules. However, I attempted to buy 3 other pair of sneakers when I was there but was trying to make up my mind of which I wanted. I was told by the customer service person that I needed to make a choice because she had items to put up. I thought what she said was very unprofessional and actually rude. I have always had semi decent service at the Belks at Citadel Mall. I always go into places with the attitude of treat people the way you want to be treated. What's ironic about the situation is there was another customer service representative at the register and she did not seem friendly and I chose the person that treated me worse. Please managers of Belk give these Customer Service Representatives some training on how to treat customers. read more

I have shopped the Citadel Mall and Belk since the store opened. I have many complaints since the new group took over. I don't like the way the shoe department is set up --messy,can't find sizes, can't find shoes. I've stopped looking. The Buy 1, get one 50% off is not a good sale. The BOGO sales where you buy 1and get 2 free is not a good sale because mostly I only buy 1 shirt at a time. The petite dept. is a mess -- not everything that is in the misses dept. is in the petite dept. when I need a smaller/shorter size tee. The store is filthy especially the women's dressing rooms. I never take my shoes off and step onto the filthy carpet in those rooms. UGH!! The music in the MAC make-up department is so loud it drowns out any conversations you may want to have with friends or sales persons. Should I go on??? I could. read more
