The scan in machines work fine/ they're a bit loud but are efficient and not a problem. This is my home Costco and I think it has an easier flow- is less chaotic- than other Costcos I have visited.

I love Costco in general and believe it's one of the best retailers around. They have a ton of great products, competitive pricing, and they're a just a good company in general. The company pays their employees well and has good benefits. They also provide a very good warranty for any product purchased at the store, I always prefer to make my big purchases here (such as refrigerator, bed, etc.). The West Ashley location is kind of a mad house. The parking lot, while quite large, is still a pain to get in and out of. The aisles are always packed and the food court almost never has seats available. This Costco is just really really popular, and they probably need another one in the area nearby. In contrast, the Mt Pleasant Costco always has tons of parking and is much more pleasant to shop at. The drive to Mt Pleasant is a bit too long for me so I still end up going to the West Ashley one most of the time. Overall I'm a huge fan of Costco as a business. This particular location is over crowded but it's still a Costco so it's solid. I hope they will consider adding another Costco in North Charleston or somewhere nearby to alleviate the congestion in the West Ashley location.

Absolutely love Costco. The standard of items is very high and I'm always very happy with the product. Whether it's furniture, clothing, or food, it's always great. Saturday morning in the West Ashleigh Costco is quite busy to say the least. Every single aisle was busy and the lines went halfway deep into the store, with about at least 10 to 12 people in every single checkout counter. This is probably a good problem to have, but be advised, it's probably best to not go there over the weekend if it can be helped. There was barely any parking available. I definitely love Costco, and I wish I could control my spending in there! Ha ha ha!

This was a great Costco visit! I'm not from the area, (but am very familiar with it) but I really enjoyed how this location incorporated the local vibes into the store! I mainly stopped to get gas and visit the food court, but was very impressed with this location. If I lived in Charleston, I'd be at this store every other day (at minimum!)

    Book section is abundant!

Love Costco, don't love Costco on a Saturday at Noon however lol. This location was well stocked, despite the high customer traffic. There are 4 kiosks at the food court but the process is disorganized with no designated waiting area for customers therefore creating a gaggle of people just standing everywhere. So happy to see there's still a book section with lots of options!! Some Midwest locations have done away with the books completely. Self checkout was seamless and the associate wiped off the scanning area without me having to ask (previous customer had wet food items and I had clothes). Attention to detail is always a win!

These come in cute small glass cups that you can reuse.

With hundreds of check-ins and photos, I've been a dedicated Costco member for years. Even as a two-person household, we renew every year with no hesitation. As a whole, Costco merchandise has always been a good value, but in recent years, the clothing has gotten more stylish. My husband recently bought new dress pants from Costco, and the pants look like department store style and quality. The clothes also work for Charleston- they carry a lot of dri-fit or golf styles for the hot weather. I purchased tires from Costco a few years ago, and the tires have a guarantee with free patches. If a tire must be replaced, the price is prorated. Occasionally, my air pressure is low in the winter, and Costco has installed two self-serve Nitrogen tire pumps at the back of the store for easy filling. We recently booked a vacation package with Costco travel. We booked three nights in a hotel and a rental car through Costco, with a rate cheaper than what a hotel would ordinarily cost (we basically got the car rental for free and still saved). I'm not sure if all the deals are that good, but if you're already a member, it's worth checking when planning a vacation or trip. The service even sets a travel alert for your Costco Citi card for your trip dates. Inside the store, there's self-checkout, and the staff keep those lines moving quickly. You can also order from the food court through a self-serve kiosk. If you're stuck in the food court or store for awhile (waiting on a tire repair or prescription), you can even hop on the free wifi now. Working for Costco is truly a career. This store has incredibly low employee turnover, especially for retail. The associate who sold us a membership ten years ago processed our return the other day. Some workers started when Costco opened in 2001 and their badges reflect the year they started. Costco's had a few changes over the last few years, but it's all been positive. We'll shop here as long as we're in Charleston and Costco's in Charleston.

Welcome to the lifestyle! Haha! The monthly ad is where the great deals kick in. Great deals on the clearance too, which can get wild! The food samples use to be awesome, but just kinda average now. Use to be a whole meal, just walking around. The food court is still great though! Awesome deal with pizzas and smoothies! Also that rotisserie chicken deal is probably worth the membership itself. The gas discount isn't really stellar. Gas prices are similar to North Charleston. Must be related to the locality taxes for Charleston. West coast Costcos have sushi, which would be great, but still waiting for it here. The employees are always friendly and the even though it gets busy everything seems to flow well If you plan on or end up spending $250 or more a month, if pays to opt up for the executive membership for the 2% cash back. That is the break-even point for the extra cost of $60 per year.

This is a hard one to write. I've been a reliable customer for years, at least well over a decade…read more And I'm sad to say Gerald's isn't what it used to be. Let me start by saying the staff is always friendly. When you walk in, those working the registers, checking you in/out, etc. are always a pleasure to work with. While I have also had a positive experience with the techs, however, their attitude is not genuine. Recently I took my car in for new tires and an alignment. Long story short they put on the new wheels but said they couldn't do an alignment without first installing new balljoints, bushings and "might as well do the whole package and add control arms even though they're fine". Bringing what would have been a $600 job to $1,4000. Balljoints are $15-30, bushing $40- but if we wanted to do the "whole package" you're looking at roughly $200 max for a job that takes 1-2 hours. So where is the extra $600 coming from? Labor, right? Nope! Turns out Gerald's is overcharging an outrageous amount for parts. The numbers weren't adding up and I told them the new tires were fine and to bring my car down. I called a friend who has a renowned shop in Charleston for a second opinion because I had a gut feeling something was wrong. It was there he confirmed Gerald's was trying to screw me over and that my balljoints were perfectly fine and while the bushings had some wear, nothing was severe and they could have done the alignment. (Their shop successfully did it by the way with no issue and no issues popped up on my car from doing so. I also heard several horror stories from cars they had received after being at Gerald's.) I was able to inspect the balljoints and bushings myself and can confirm, everything was fine. Last year (January 2025) I had taken another car in for mechanical issues which I was overcharged for as well, so this isn't a new problem Gerald's is having. I was just hoping that would be the only time and that they might have fired those men who ripped me off. Instead, it looks like this is their new culture and they're digging their heels in. Get your tires done, sure, but anything else I would actively avoid them. They're right up there with Firestone on being some of the worst shops. Take their suggestions with a grain of salt and for the love of God get a second opinion before you let them take your money. I'm very fortunate I had someone in the industry I could call, but most places will do inspections for free or at minimal cost. It's worth it. Trust me!

I sent my husband in to get them installed. The Guy said it'll be $250 to install them then he told my husband that they wouldn't install them because, he didn't buy them through their store. When I called another store in Georgia, South Carolina, I was told yeah we will install those. So that makes me come to believe that the reason they're not installing the stairs is because my husband went in there and my husband is Mexican. I called them up. They told me that it was policy that if the parts weren't bought through their store, they would not install them. I asked them where I could find this policy online. They couldn't refer me anywhere so that way I could see this policy and read it instead I was told we're not gonna do this with you. It's policy we're not installing them and they hung the phone up mind you I've gone into the store. I've spent over $8000 in this store and parts for my other jeep because we own three of them, I will never again buy anything at the store. I will never recommend them to anybody. I asked who I could make a complaint about this too, and got no response on that also. The person I spoke to on the phone newbie by name because I've done business in there before never again totally disgusted with this location. I can't even have services done in my hometown at this location. Sad I have to drive to another state to get services done if I choose to use total off-road, and more, which I will not.

They have one plan in mind & that is to rip you off anyway they can. I went in on Wednesday to get a tire fixed that had a screw in it & get a oil change. Had to make a appointment to come back on Thursday at 8:00am. I was there at 7:45. The people were unbelievably rude. My truck sat in the parking lot for a hour & 15 minutes before they took it in. Finally 3.5 hours later it was done & cost $124.47. When I left the check engine light was on, there was no oil change sticker on the windshield so I'm not even certain they changed it. By the time I got home the slow leak I had in my tire was now a fast leak. I put air in it 3 times & got it back to the shop at 8:00am Friday only to be treated like shit again. It was another 1.5 hours before they took my truck in to re fix what they messed up. I also asked them about the sticker & the engine light which they never even responded to me. Finally after 2.5 hours I asked how much longer only to be talked down to & treated like I was a bother. So finally 3 hours later they tell me I owe them another $44.93 because they did not charge me correctly the day before. They refused to give me my keys until I paid them a second time. I asked for receipt & they did not want to give me one. Said they would email it but they said that yesterday as well. Well I got my receipt (see photos) and they are printed so you can't really see all the bogus charges but you can see enough that the $ amounts do not add up to the totals. I will be disputing this with my credit card & making a report with the BBB. Do yourself a favor and avoid these scam artists at all cost. Update I just went outside & my tire is flat again. It has not even been a hour. I have spent 3 days & more than 10 hours with these scam artists to fix a simple screw in a tire & it is still not fixed.
