Usually I go to Jiffy Lube for oil changes. It's quick, easy, and no-frills. For some reason I decided to try Firestone this time and figured booking an appointment would make it even easier. I showed up on time, checked in, and asked how long it would be. They told me forty-five minutes, which already seemed excessive, but since I was there I waited. After an hour I asked for an update and was told they didn't have the right filter for my car and needed to go buy one before they could even start. No one had mentioned this during the full hour I was sitting there. I said never mind and asked for my keys, and then they couldn't find them. Apparently the technician had taken my keys with him to get gas. Eventually they returned them and I left. I drove straight to Jiffy Lube and ten minutes later my oil change was done. Zero out of ten. I would never go back to Firestone. read more

I would avoid Gerald's Tire in Mt. Pleasant. My wife brought her car to have a nail removed and plugged/patched - approximately $50. She was told that the tread was too worn to plug/patch it and that she needed new tires. I had taken pictures the day before and the tread appeared to be 50% worn, but certainly did not appear to need new tires. At their recommendation, she moved forward and we were charged $500 per tire. I found the exact same tire on Tire Rack for $350. I would assume they obtain their tires from similar wholesale outlets as Tire Rack, so I asked about the $600 total difference, but they said that the tires had already been put on and it was too late. I asked to see the tread on the tires that they removed and they told me that they conveniently were no longer there. I will not go there again. read more

Firestone has provided excellent service on my 2017 Genesis, not a common vehicle. They have performed repairs beyond the usual brakes, tires, and batteries that other well regarded local service centers have refused to do. Went here to check out a tire that had a little gash in it. Service guy was amazing said he just got to the store a couple weeks ago. He looked at my tire and let me know that it was ok to drive for a little longer but to keep an eye on it, let me know exactly what to look for and when to come in and the price range if I wanted to do it that day. Overall really appreciated the honesty and not trying to scare me into buying new tires if I don't need them. Will 100% be buying my next tires from here after this experience. FIRESTONE, I would suggest you get your superstar, "the fixer", to fix his attitude and treat people with a bit more respect. See my earlier review on this place. I gave them 5 stars. Looks like there have been some personnel changes. One change is a guy who called himself "the fixer" who told me he had worked at 37 Firestones in 15 years. He said he was a fixer and that he goes to different stores and fixes things. Well, since I had gone to this shop several times in the last two years I asked what he was there to fix. I did not expect him to really answer it but I did not expect this. He said, "That's really none of your business". It seemed to me the natural question to ask. His manner from the moment I had walked in was nasty. After it had sunk in how nasty he was to me I said well, the first thing you should fix is your attitude. And you should learn to talk to customers with more respect. I asked for my keys back. I felt he could have just said something like "well, we're always trying to improve.", or something like that. Why did he even need to tell me he was known as the "fixer"? He is the one who stoked my curiosity about a shop I had had good experiences with. read more

I chose this place on two conditions, it was the closest to where we were when we found out we needed a tire shop, but I also checked yelp reviews first.... I'm thinking the prior reviewers don't know much about cars, except for Karen P. Before I start the full review and it's a long in depth one, but one you may find useful if you don't want to be taken advantage of, Ill just say my fiancé and I own two German vehicles with expensive tires, and we know a thing or two about tires, one of which just had the same problem in our home town which was a nail in the tread. So, here goes. We were visiting Charleston from Reno NV and had rented a car from Budget at the airport in Raleigh (clearly after this experience they need their own separate 1 star review) - anyhow, we were driving to the Arthur Ravenel Bridge from our AirBNB in Mt Pleasant, and the driver's front tire started vibrating as we parked. Fiancé got out and inspected the tire and observed a small nail in the tread of the tire which was losing air. That is when I yelped and found Firestone, which was only 2 miles or so away. Went inside and contacted a worker telling him what was wrong with the tire, said no problem they'd fix it for the cost of $30.00, which my fiancé signed paperwork on. Approximately 35 minutes later, when they took the car back, the "service advisor" then said that the tire was unfixable and they had extreme safety concerns regarding the tire, and also the other front tire as well. They questioned how Budget could have rented us the car to begin with. (again that's another review... but for info, the vehicle was a 16 Chevy Malibu with approximately 32,000 miles on it and the tires had more than adequate tread) Long story kind of short, they basically said we needed to buy a new tire. My fiancé then asked to inspect the tire, revealing there was no sidewall damage and minimal rubber fragments inside the interior of the sidewall. The nail had been pulled out of the hole which was no bigger than 1/4 in diameter. Again I was advised that we would have to purchase a tire, this time citing federal law. He literally said it was federal law that they could not fix the tire and again we would need to purchase a new tire to get on the road. So many things right now guys. This is a rental car. We are not purchasing a tire. As I said in the opening paragraph, my vehicle just had the same thing, with a much larger construction size nail in it, and it was patched and fixed with no problems back home in Reno. I had budget on the phone at this point and the budget agent wanted to know what was the damage that made the tires so unsafe. I put the service manager on the phone with the budget agent. Service manager said some mumbo jumbo about federal regulations and what not. Side note - interesting enough while researching federal regulations, because I won't pretend we know EVERYTHING, by the way to save yourself time there is no such "law" - unless the tire is damaged through the sidewall, which ours clearly was not, but anyways on google we found articles about Fraud at Firestone Tire in California stores in 2016 and a news article about a woman in Boise, Idaho claiming the store had told her the exact thing about "federal regulations" trying to scam her as well in 2014. When the guy finally figured out he wasn't getting us to buy a tire (hello it's NOT OUR CAR), he mentioned we could take the car to a shop down the road that might repair it "under the table" (because again, federal LAW).... In the end we told them to put the tire back on as Budget rental was finally coming through and getting us another car. I'm sorry, I forgot the worst part about this situation. Fiancé goes in and asks a guy behind a little kiosk to speak to the manager. The guy says he is the manager, but then tells my fiancé to speak to the guy he's already dealing with and shut his window. SHUT HIS WINDOW on a customer that simply wanted to know what was going on. Honestly this felt like a form of extortion. This actually still makes me angry so I want to end on a good note - The one guy that was actually exemplary in this whole situation was the original worker that attempted to help us out. It took them a while to talk to me and when they finally did, they told me it could take up to an hour and half. I was fine with that since they have wifi so I could work. Am disgusted by my 18-year-old son's experience with this shop. They were open on Sunday, which is why he chose to come here. They inspected his car and "determined" that he needed a $4,000 part to fix his problem. Well, he doesn't have that kind of cash, and his car was still drivable (just not in excess of about 60 mph), so he left and never came back. Fast forward a few weeks -- he took the car to another local company that was unable to diagnose the problem (but didn't try to gouge him), and then took it to HayTire. He left it there for 3 hours, they inspected it, determined $130 worth of work needed to be done, and the problem is now gone. He is relieved, we are relieved, and Firestone has now graduated to the bottom of our list when looking for reliable repair shops. I would be remiss if I didn't say that he has had work done successfully at this shop in the past, but they did attempt to push a few unnecessary up-sells on him at that time as well. read more

I took my car to Firestone in Mt. Pleasant. The customer service was great, but the bill that they gave me was horrible. I had issues with my car, and after they looked at it they gave me this list of what things were bad. 1. Brakes (These were replaced two months before I took it to Firestone) 2. Alternation 3. Battery 4. Struts and mounts 5. Tune up All this for the price of $2600!!!!!!! I had it towed to Pep Boys in West Ashley and got all the stuff replace for $1100. I saved $1500 by going down the road 8 miles. This company takes advantage of you. Don't use them unless you don't care about your money. read more

I popped my tire harder than I pop that thang on a Saturday night. Not a single tow truck could make it out to me due to the flooding I was causing in the city. I ended up putting my flat spare on and drove out to Firestone. We both had the understanding that I had things to see and people to do. We went in for a flat tire, they said they would have to replace all 4, according to them there is no other option due ti instructions in the car's manual. (We had just come from Gerald's, who did not think all 4 tires needed to be replaced) My sweet husband listened and agreed to 4 new tires at $500. They then called back stating the brake pads were worn down to 1mm and it would be $300 to replace them. We have had zero issues with brakes on this 2010 Subaru Outback. Again, my sweet husband agreed. We went to pick up the car and the bill is over $1,300! They replaced all brake rotors which we did not authorize. How on earth can a company be this shady and think they can get away with it. We are currently dealing with this situation, while our car sits at the Mt Pleasant store. Our car had two problems. No air conditioning and slow tire leak. Tech analyses the car and finds that AC needs refrigerant and that the Schrader valve may need to be replaced. The tire is leaking air and needs to be replaced. The service advisor says AC cannot be fixed because they do not have the part and that because the vehicle is four-wheel drive the tire cannot be replaced---instead I will need to replace all four tires to prevent transmission damage. We needed to travel about 750 miles and were very concerned about safety. Eventually spoke with the tech (Bryce) while filling the tire with air for the long trip and explained what the service advisor had said. Bryce said that he had the part and that the tire could also be replaced. I was shocked that the service advisor was going to allow me and my wife to travel 750 miles on a bad tire because he wanted to sell me four new tires. Bryce completed AC and tire repair in about an hour. Bryce should be rewarded for his integrity and skill. We had a safe trip and are very thankful that Bryce stepped up and helped us. Honestly, If it were my decision I would have Bryce manage a Firestone auto care facility---he's the type of person that customers can trust. read more

I have been a customer for 35 years and today marks the end of my loyalty to Firestone. Over the last several years I've noticed less and less appreciation for me as a customer up to the point where the last visits they have been downright rude. I have a Firestone credit card and have gone to them exclusively as my full service shop to buy all of my tires and handle all regular maintenance on all of my cars. I am not just the occasional drop in looking to have air put in my tire. So yesterday, since I was driving by, I made the big mistake of stopping in to ask when I could schedule an oil change. I was greeted by a man who let out an exasperated sigh which he followed up by hurdling a folder against the ceiling. I was totally taken aback as one might imagine so as he approached I tried to introduce some kindness, be nice and add levity by apologizing that I must have come at a busy time. All he said was what did I need. I asked about an oil change and he said the soonest would be Friday. Today is Sunday. I thanked him and let him go back to indulging his foul mood. I am a business owner and would be mortified to know I paid employees who treated customers the way I have been treated (again, not just today -today was just the last time) to the point that a long time, good paying customer will never return or pass on recommendations. I tried to locate the owner, but to no avail. So now the dirty laundry is for public viewing. read more

I brought my car to Firestone for an oil change. They called me about an hour and a half later to say I had major problems with the suspension, and that I needed new tire rods, control arms, sway bars, etc. They presented these issues as major safety concerns, and said tires could go shooting off if they were unaddressed. It seemed suspicious, especially when I was referred to the manager after declining the $1500 repairs. I took the car to a trusted mechanic the following day. His assessment- no issues whatsoever. I had a problematic case, where it wasn't clear what the issue was, along with not feeling like it was being addressed seriously enough. I had to come back a third time to get it resolved. I was frustrated at that point and wasn't really understanding why it was still a problem, so I asked to speak to a manager. Ryan took over and was great from the time he took over to the time I picked up my car. He listened and was understanding of my frustrations, made to sure to explain what happened and why it was a tricky issue. He kept me informed of what was being done and made sure to leave detailed notes as to what was done on my invoice after I picked the car up, since it was after you guys had closed. He even gave me a ride to work so I wouldn't be late. This is a case where he went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and happy with the results. He is an asset to your company and knows how to treat customers to keep them coming back. Excellent Service from a great team of mechanics! I took our Vibe in for an oil change and maintenance check. Harry informed me the front brake pads were in need of replacement. The last time they were done was 3 years ago and they were correct. In addition, a valve cover gasket needed replaced. All the work was completed for under $400.
