Almost sad to say but (here comes the old age train), I've been shopping at H&M for maybe 12 or 13 years now... scary. They had H&M all over where I grew up in MA and although I've lived in the south for many moons without them, I'll always stop in if there's one nearby. With that being the case, I've been to stores all over the country and even a few in Europe. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes for this location. I was pretty sure that the men's section, like many other downtown Charleston shops would be small and underwhelming. It seems that every store around continues to make their men's department smaller and smaller short of just a few spots in the area. To my surprise, the men's section in this H&M was huge and had way more than I expected. They may need to work on the sizing because they're were barely any larger sizes in stock. I'm guessing that's what people are buying because their stuff runs small in the first place, and most guys I know aren't a size 29 waist wearing size small t-shirts. My first time in was during 2nd Sunday on King so it was pretty busy but nothing too crazy. I had my dog with me too which I always feel kind of weird about going into stores with. None of the staff gave any looks or seemed to have a problem. Then I saw two other people with dogs so I guess it's not frowned upon at all. I even took her into the dressing room, and they purposely gave me the large room so she would have some extra room. That was a thoughtful gesture and did not go unnoticed. The prices on some things have crept up at H&M over the years but that's across the board and not particular to this one store. They always have the basic items for cheap and nothing is really "expensive" anyway. If they continue to keep a large and fully stocked men's section without cannibalizing it for more women's tanks, I'll keep coming back.

H&M in Charleston on King Street is a great place to get quality clothes with the latest styles at great prices. I really like the building itself that H&M is located in as it Art Deco and very beautifully designed and has a wide open space inside and great architecture outside and is also a great historical place due to the civil in the 1960s. I like the clothes here that have solid colors and the pants and long sleeve shirts and the blazers and jackets. You can really get some good prices depending on the season and the sales they have going on. I like they layout and overall structure of the store as everything is easy to find and well organized. The staff here is very friendly and the checkout line seems to move at a fast pace.

Relatively clean and relatively organized, but dressing room workers were kind of rude.

Never shopped here before but watched one of the employees bring a homeless man donuts. It made a customer out of me.

A great place to go for basics. You can get t-shirts and leggings for cheap.

Decidedly to visit the shop as this brand has a small presence in the West with only an outlet store in Las Vegas. The Charleston store has a boutique feel and is filled with a nice selection of shorts, short sleeve shirts and polos. Many of the clothes have tropical print designs. While the clothes are nice, there were not a lot on sale. There was a small rack of items that were on sale, but it was not very clear as it took up space with items that were regular priced. As a result, I brought up an item to check out initially that was regular price and was lightly scolded by the staff. I did end up buying a pair of shorts here that I liked, but the store experience left a bit of a bad taste. I would consider buying from the brand again, but I will stick to buying online next time. Mostly because there are no locations near where I live on the West Coast.

This place is a whole vibe -- like if freedom, cold beer, and dad jokes had a baby and dressed it in elastic waistbands. The staff? Friendlier than a golden retriever at a tailgate. They sized me up quick, tossed me a pair of shorts that fit better than a saddle on a Sunday ride. I don't know what kind of magic they sew into that fabric, but these shorts are comfier than my recliner and got more stretch than a yoga class for hamsters. They had patterns louder than a honky-tonk jukebox and colors that said, "I'm here to party, but I'll still mow your lawn if you need." Walked out with a couple pairs and the overwhelming urge to shotgun a seltzer on a boat. Bottom line: If your thighs ain't high-fivin' each other in Chubbies, you're wearin' the wrong shorts.
