While I do not mind waiting for a table, to wait 10 minutes and then be set at a wet table with no silverware and then have the silverware placed at the end of the table and be expected to set my own table is a little ridiculous. OMG, I forgot how much I love Tecate, it's so good! My all time favorite is the arroz con pollo, its so cheesy and delicious with mushrooms and grilled chicken. Have been wanting to try for some time based on friend's recommendations. Food was really good. We tried chimichangas, enchiladas, quesadilla and Tecate burrito. Food came out super hot and tasty. Of all of these the burrito could have had a bit less onion but still good. The service was a bit slow and at times we were not sure who our wait person was. 3 different people asked if we were ready for our check?? The placed looked nice and clean. My only problem: a lady who worked there, we could see into kitchen where we sat. She took her hair band out of her hair (hair down to almost waist) and proceeded to finger comb her hair and after doing this for about 5 minutes she tied her hair again into a ponytail. Uh how about doing that in the bathroom instead of the kitchen area. Could not see if she washed her hands but she was delivering food, so sure hoping she did. read more

This place was amazing. Went there for a company Christmas party, and the experience was perfect. The staff was nothing but friendly. From joking around to even joining in some of the dancing. Loved it!! I had a mango citrus chicken salad (I think that's what it's called) and it was bomb. So good. HUGE portions - I took half home for lunch the next day. Very reasonable prices. We ordered a fire grilled something for two. It was amazing! My husband even loved the grilled vegetables under all the meat. In fairness, it is more likely to feed 3 or 4 people. There were bacon rapped prawns! Unbelievable. The salsa was also worth mentioning. I imagine an evening with drinks with chips and salsa would be amazing. The server was quick and attentive. This is a review of the Tecate Grill carryout. The other day I was feeling a need for a Mexican fix, so my son obliged me by picking up an order for a vegetarian burrito. I called and ordered and when he arrived, my order was ready to go! He arrived home with a bag that seemed way too big for Just a Burrito. So I opened it up and there was an bag inside the bag--filled with fresh chips and salsa. That was an unexpected treat. Then I took out the container that had the burrito (wish I had taken a picture---I keep forgetting, when the scent of good food hits me). The to-go box was FULL. The burrito (wrapped in a tomato flour tortilla) was wedged in on the diagonal so it would fit. It was accompanied by a generous serving of sour cream and smothered in mixed greens seasoned with a delicious dressing. The burrito itself was brimming with rice and beans and lots of chopped, sauteed onions, green peppers, zucchini and carrots and it was drizzled with a mild melted cheese. And the whole thing was still hot. I dugin and enjoyed what I ate. I shared with my son and then there was still over half a burrito left--enough for lunch for two the next day! I have not yet dined in at Tecate since they moved, but I probably will soon. read more

This is one of those "because it's convenient to the genre I want" restaurants. If you're in the mood for mediocre Mexican food and you're in the Shadle area, this is your place. There is nothing about the menu that is at all interesting. In fact, it's slightly below average in the number of options. They offer the chips and salsa that every Mexican venue offers, and they're fine. The taste of the food is pretty decent, but you're getting the exact average type of food you'd get anywhere else. Service is a little slow, but (again) fine. You'll get what you need, and you'll only (at most) have to wait a few minutes. Enough servers meander through there that you'll be able to catch someone if you need something. Beer is your typical shitty Mexican beer selection. You'll be able to find most of the Mexican lagers you've heard of, as well as quite a few of the macro brews. If you're looking for anything craft, look elsewhere. All in all, it's an "OK" place. Nothing special, and nothing to draw you here. But not bad, and you'll have a decent meal if you're brought here. read more

I had to remove the fish from the taco and just eat the remaining stuff. This was a month ago. I'm writing this review now because it left a bad taste in my mouth figuratively and literally. I'm a little pissed off about it. If I were the waiter and I saw that all the fish on the plate had been removed from the FISH Taco I might be inclined to ask, "Something wrong with the fish?" But alas I'm too polite or meek or whatever to say anything myself. I really don't like to have the uncomfortable experience of asking for a new meal anyway I just want it right the first time. First, let me say that the service was great. Our server was engaging and offered prompt efficient service. The food was made of quality ingredients but I found the flavors lacking. I got the Dos Amigos burritto and while it was very filling, it was a bit salty and not to my taste. My wife had the pork carnitas and also found them not to be to her taste. Deceiving happy hour menu. My fiance and I went there for dinner tonight. Our waiter said it was happy hour. I looked at the menu and happy hour drinks included House Tea, Well Drinks, Margaritas (plural), and Sangria. When we received our bill, all our drinks were at regular price. I told our waitress that it says on the menu that margaritas are on the happy hour menu. She went and spoke with her manager and returned. She said only ONE type of margarita (the Coyote) was on happy hour and that "you're not the only customer to think that." If I'm not the only customer to perceive that when the menu says Margaritas (with an s) is on the happy hour menu, then they should make their menu more clear. There is no indication elsewhere on the menu to state that only one of their margaritas is the happy hour menu. read more

Being from Los Angeles, I miss the days when you could stop at any cart on Taco Tuesday and be 100% pleased. We were excited for the deal we read about Tecate's taco special, but we were immensely let down. First, this special required a purchase of a drink, so realistically it's not that much cheaper (do your research, Inlander) We were served watery ground beef tacos wrapped in a cold tortilla, but I guess quality is sacrificed when it is "unlimited."
