Tamales! Oh man, I ordered these for my husband and ate half his food. Our daughter also devoured the beans and rice and almost an entire enchilada. I recommend the beef enchiladas. Can't wait to try more of their menu. I ordered takeout. And the gentleman helped me carry e very thing out to my car and even waited until I was there to make the drinks so he could ask if we wanted ice. Great experience! read more

Whitest Mexican food I've ever had, the crème enchiladas and they were smothered in what tastes like cream of chicken canned soup, the soup was all over the beans serve with it and made them inedible. Spectacular service on a busy Saturday night. Boyfriend and I ordered the Nachos appetizer which could easily feed 5 people for a great price. Absolutely delicious. Honestly the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The fish tacos were burnt and hard as a rock. Then my daughters burrito had meat that taste close to what we thought dog food would taste like. And lastly who melts that plasticy singles American cheese slices onto my husband flatas at a Mexican restaurant?! Ive run restaurants in Los Angeles and would have never let my server take food out of the kitchen looking like our food did! And lastly the food is WAY over priced. 65$ later and no one ate their meals. They are charging LA prices for the cheap food. Probably because they are trying to cut costs. Service was awful we went there on a Wednesday night for dinner and the customer service was awful we had to wait and ask for items like silverware and water and the female server spent most of her time sitting at another booth talking with friends never once asked us or assisted with ensuring we didn't need anything. with the cost these days to go out with a family of 4 and get horrible service totally not worth it. stay home and keep your money vs go out and be treated so awful no thank you. read more

I was so excited to eat here, I'd heard nothing but good things. So, I called a week before and reserved a spot for me and 25 of my friends (they accommodated well). Food was okay, warm not hot, but WAY over-priced! They charged me $7.18 for some guacamole (I ordered some in the side for my burrito and they gave me two huge scoops)!! The service was ugh... constantly forgetting my drink (a margarita!), which took me half an hour to even get after asking three times; not sure who's food went where; adding stuff onto our check that we didn't order and then arguing with us to get it taken off. I will be taking my 25 friends and going back to Fiesta Mexicana, where I know I'll get great service, great food, and won't be over-priced. read more

This was our first time visiting. Server and staff were very friendly. We sat out on their new patio which had space heaters but it was very noisy with traffic on NW Blvd and a truck that wouldn't start next door. It was partially enclosed. They had a large drink menu, and food menu varied with shrimp, chicken and beef options. I ordered the Mexican mule, it was okay, couldn't taste the ginger beer. Hubby ordered the Mai Tai, it was bland. Food looked at good as it tasted though -- Desert fire shrimp pasta was exactly as described a spicy jalapeno cream sauce over penne pasta, so tasty I ate every bite. Tour de mexico, a little bit of everything- carbe asada, chili relleno and southwest enchilada, all were delicious.... EXCEPT THERE WAS HAIR IN THE CARNE ASADA AND BEANS!! We were with friends that knew the owners and staff and they completely ignored us in checking if we needed refills or wanted anything else including dessert. Sadly we left disappointed. read more

Always good, that's the least of compliments you can give this restaurant. Have been going there since they were located on Wellesley Ave. and they never disappoint. Food always high quality and usually more than you can eat. I had burritos last time and was very impressed with flavor and size, so much that I ate the whole thing. Steak or chicken shrimp -Fish Tacos: The waitress said this were small taco's but :"small" is subjective. They have three vegetarian main courses, and a burger, on the menu. -Clean -Outdoor seating -Great service (6:30 on a Monday) -Salsa provided with chips was very good; chunky and plenty of cilantro. It was not spicy. Cons: -The house margarita I had was nothing special, rather bland. I didn't taste fresh lime juice so I suspect it was a mix - but I am no expert and that may be incorrect. It was not cheap My food: -I ordered the quesadilla with portobello and spinach (listed as appetizer). While outstanding in flavor and a nice presentation, it was a too greasy inside, too much moisture, it fell apart so I used knife/fork. This is a review of the Tecate Grill carryout. The other day I was feeling a need for a Mexican fix, so my son obliged me by picking up an order for a vegetarian burrito. I called and ordered and when he arrived, my order was ready to go! He arrived home with a bag that seemed way too big for Just a Burrito. So I opened it up and there was an bag inside the bag--filled with fresh chips and salsa. That was an unexpected treat. Then I took out the container that had the burrito (wish I had taken a picture---I keep forgetting, when the scent of good food hits me). The to-go box was FULL. The burrito (wrapped in a tomato flour tortilla) was wedged in on the diagonal so it would fit. It was accompanied by a generous serving of sour cream and smothered in mixed greens seasoned with a delicious dressing. The burrito itself was brimming with rice and beans and lots of chopped, sauteed onions, green peppers, zucchini and carrots and it was drizzled with a mild melted cheese. And the whole thing was still hot. I dugin and enjoyed what I ate. I shared with my son and then there was still over half a burrito left--enough for lunch for two the next day! I have not yet dined in at Tecate since they moved, but I probably will soon. read more

My husband went to this hole in the wall place only to be scammed by the girls at the register , he ordered a carne Asada burrito and was charged 13.00 the first time around , the second time he was charged 21.00 he didn't say anything , he figured he just wouldn't come back , but no one takes advantage of my family I'm writing to the better business bureau so they can investigate this establishment, I would like to update this review , I received a nasty little message from someone that works here, first of all 21.00 for a burrito is overpriced and you stated that meat is more expensive , well what did you do? Cook the entire cow? Secondly you said I should educate myself , lady your the one that needs education on running a business, you do not talk to your customers like that, I will post your nasty little message on social media so they can avoid your restaurant and people won't continue to get ripped off read more

Well I have a pretty high standard of Mexican food to begin with because I'm originally from a city that has amazing Mexican food. They provide chip and salsa which were pretty tasty and easy to snack on. I got the "grande 1" with 2 chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The enchilada were nothing special to me. The sauce didn't seem like it has a lot of flavor, although the chicken inside wasn't dry so that was good! I like some kick so I asked for a side of the hot stuff which was pretty tasty. I would say it had some ghost chili or a habanero kind of salsa which did add some good flavor to my enchiladas. I also got 2 of their margaritas which was okay- (I like simple, not sweet, strong margaritas. Generally speaking I like tequila, lime, triple sec with some club soda... that's it.) For the price and size of the margaritas, it felt like they didn't have much tequila in it so I was a little disappointed on that one. My husbands got the steak and shrimp fajitas dish and he said it was kinda sad. The picture looked much different then what the dish came out like. It had a slice of thin steak and the "shrimp mushroom" mixture had about 3-4 small shrimps. He said it was okay but also something he wouldn't get again. Overall the atmosphere was fun, our waitress was pretty awesome/light hearted/ fun to have, and food was average. I would go back if invited with a group but if I want my good enchiladas or margaritas I'd go to rancho Chico's down the street ;) (they have great margarita there!) read more

I had gone to Tecate for the first time with a friend for lunch. I asked the waitress if there were any vegetarian options and she suggested the two vegetarian dishes they have at the bottom of their menu. I ended up ordering the "vegetarian" spinach enchilada....only it had chicken in it. She explicitly told me there was no meat in either of the two options and that they were safe for me to eat. I'm glad I cut open the enchilada before taking a bite. I will not be returning to Tecate again. read more

Awesome spot coming from Seattle! I was headed back from a business trip with my GM & Manager, we seen this spot with four stars and said "Why not?" (: I'm glad we spotted in, the chimichanga burrito I ordered was super good, my managers plate with the sizzling streak for her tortillas looked and smelled amazing. The decor was nice, I loved the sugar skulls decor and the custom painting going on all around the restaurant. It wasn't too busy and there was plenty of parking in the parking lot. Overall experience I would give this spot 4 stars. The only thing I'd critic is checking on the guest and asking if they need anything, more often. I've never been to this place but I really enjoyed their happy hour. Along with the beer I got an order of bacon wrapped jalapeños . I think what made this so good is that they fried the jalapeños first and then added strips of cheese to them wrapped in bacon and then baked them for a few minutes to crisp up the bacon. Very tasty! The garnish that was served with them was almost like a coleslaw but with a Mexican zest! I'm excited to go back later and give the rest of the menu a try! read more

This is the 3rd experience at Tecate's and it is a strike out for me. My Tacos Al Carbon were a wet mess with cooked carrots and celery in a red sauce! Never had Taco Al Carbon I had to eat w/ a spoon. Food was bland and service was near non-existent. We sat on the deck, first mistake as we were the only ones out there. I had to track down a server to refill our drinks and salsa on two separate occasions. I helped myself to napkins and to go boxes as we were virtually ignored. Gotta say this, went to the restaurant Tecate for the first time last night. Now I can see why they were always busy when they were just off the corner of WellesleyGotta near Subway. Their food is Yummy!!!! I got enchiladas, but I got a whiff of their fajitas now thats a dinner for two from the size of the meat platter and the smell that had to be yummy too! Daughter's food was great too can't remember what it was called we had yummy salsa and fresh made chips before that also. Their bar looked pretty nice but I can't partake spirits right now as I had a home accident and am on medication. Staff was wonderful! Try it you will be hooked! read more
