Food was really good and prices are really reasonable too! Chips, salsa & refried beans to start: Chips were fresh & beans were tasty. Salsa had good flavor but was very thin. Would have been easier to drink it instead of trying to dip a chip, ran off the chip like water. We both had combo #11: tamale, chile relleno & enchilada. All of it was very tasty. We both cleaned our plates! We both appreciated the perfect portions too! We'll definitely be back!!! read more

I was very pleased, not only with how delicious our meal was, but also with how easy it was to order online. I arrived about 10 minutes after placing my order, and everything was ready for me to take home. I paid online, which made the process even more convenient. Kind of a mess in there. You can hear the fryer going off just about every minute. They've added a bell to the front door, so as people leave and come in you hear that in conjunction. Did I mention the waterfall making quite a loud constant splash as well? It's basically still very much Fiesta Mexicana inside and out. Way under staffed is my guess, as it took a long time to get my meager order of two Gorditas and a tamale. Got apologized to I think three times. I'm sorry too the roomers of greatness just are not true. read more

Fiesta Mexicana this is not! Had not been since they changed and decided to try it out. If I could describe this place in one word I would say "weak". Margarita was weak, flavor of food was weak, atmosphere also felt softer and weak. Spice seemed like a foreign concept. My arroz con pollo was bland and had a catsup like taste. My wife's food was so bland she had to cover it with black pepper. Wait staff although friendly, was disorganized and did not bring our drinks for an extended amount of time after we sat down. Speaking of drinks, I could not taste any tequila in our margaritas. Gone is the strongFiesta Mexicana margarita replaced by this lime kool aid. The price was similar but I felt the portions were smaller as evident by my meal not taking up the whole plate and only serving three tortillas instead of the standard four. For desert we tried the deep fried ice cream although the first bite was pretty good most of it was corn flakes with very little ice cream. I always thought Fiesta was a "middle of the road" type restaurant. "Not great but close to my house". La Dona makes Fiesta seem like it was the greatest Mexican restaurant in the world. Went to get a bite early afternoon, we were the only people in the entire restaurant we got seated immediately but then was left for 20 minutes without water chips and salsa or even a sign of a waitress, walked out without seeing one person to even say anything! Do better new owners! read more

This isn't your mother's Mexican restaurant...It's your very elderly Great Grandmother's. The one everyone thinks should probably back away from the stove from now on, bless her heart. So it's not gonna be spicy, and you don't want anything getting caught up in GG's bridge work so it's all pretty bland and puréed and just kinda...Sad. The margarita was made via waving the tequila bottle near the glass--GG doesn't want you getting tipsy on her watch. And you won't. Remember when she made the best everything, like a nice spicy salsa? Yeah, this is a shadow of the fiesta that used to be here. There will be no heartburn or excitement from now on, no sir. It's been scrubbed of the delightfully tacky decor, the crazy skulls and weird decorations are gone, replaced with a swath of blue, like a tribute to the trip to Greece GG took last summer and still talks about. She hung up a few random decorative signs from the Dollar Store too, with white tacks right in the wall. Oh, poor GG. She tried. She hired really nice staff. They forget things, like checking on the dining room and if you ordered a drink at all, but they mean well. They bring you a basket of chips but they are all broken, probably from the bottom of the Sysco bag. You smile at them and don't want to say how bad this is by comparison to what used to be, but inside you think dang: I could make better at home, even with a Lawry's seasoning packet and a couple of fresh vegetables. Even the limes are old and crusty. You might bring your Uncle Ted here, the one from the Midwest who thinks black pepper is super spicy. He will love it. read more

Walked into LA Dona with my friend of 50+ years, 30 of which she'd lived in Arizona and we both knew this was the real deal. From the authentic decor to the music to the owner who greeted us, we both felt this was all going to be a fabulous experience! From the floor to the ceiling and everything in between La Dona screams . We ordered and admired the ambiance and when the food came it was as if it was straight from Mexico. If you think you've had Mexican food in Spokane you haven't. I've lived here off and on for 65+years and have never had Mexican food that was authentic like the food here. And the serving size is worth every dime you spend in fact for dinner tonight, I had what I brought home from going there and I'm full and to me, it was actually better tonight. You know it's good if a day and a half later it's better lol. I'd highly highly recommend you go here asap because I'm sure it will become your favorite real Mexican restaurant in town! First time back to the old Fiesta Mexican location now La Dona Cafecito. This is Fiesta Mexicana but fresher. Recall the old taquitos . . . deep fried, good. But La Dona's are rapped and quick seared . . . Delicious. Still have the classic Margarita. Cannot wait to get breakfast! read more

I've been twice for breakfast, California burrito and Heuevos con Machaca, and it was phenomenal both times. The salsas in particular were great as were the in-house made corn tortillas. read more
