I go here from time to time and today I decided to try a new drink, the White Crystal (White Grape Oolong tea with Crystal boba). It tasted amazing, even more refreshing than what I usually get which is the Grasshopper (Lychee Green tea with Cucumber juice and aloe). All my drinks regardless of the boba spot, I get with less sugar (75%). If you're okay with how sweet regular tea spots are, then I recommend getting regular sweetness. I'm so happy that Teaspoon finally opened up in South San Jose! This location is in the same shopping plaza with Safeway, but its closer to the McDonald's corner. It was very easy for me to order my drinks using the Teaspoon app. After looking at the menu, I went with the classic milk tea. There are other milk options offered here, like oat milk. When I arrived at Teaspoon, I noticed there were safety precautions. The 6 feet stickers were on the ground and hand sanitizer was available on the table. I came here for their grand opening a couple months ago! I think the drinks are a 4/5 but they have a nice rewards system in place and the service is good which bumps my overall impression to a 5/5. I've tried several of their drinks already and would recommend the following: silky strawberry (only available during the summer I believe), classic Thai tea, and taro lover (only if you like it with real taro chunks!). I am so glad Teaspoon opened up in Almaden! I've been to nearly all 15+ locations in the Bay Area (it's a local franchise) and they are all consistent in their drink quality. I ordered one of my favorites -- Grasshopper (Lychee Green tea with fresh cucumber juice) at less sweet. It's such a juicy, light, and refreshing tea drink. Less sweet still has a nice amount of sweetness. I also ordered the Thai Tea (Sweet Thai topped with organic cream) -- can't adjust the sweetness on this -- which comes with boba. It's a sweet tea for sure, but enjoyable. And the HONEY BOBA is to die for. Teaspoon pearls sets the standard for Bay Area boba in my book -- bouncy, warm pearls with the right amount of chewiness and the perfect honey sweetness. *chefs kiss* As a lactose intolerant Asian American I appreciate that many of their milk teas' default is the "classic cream" which is lactose-free. For drinks that use milk such as Thai Tea, Liquid Gold, and Matcha Series, you can sub for oat milk as a non-dairy for $0.60. Oat milk is a super creamy milk substitute which I enjoy as well! I also recommend joining their rewards program (just enter your phone number when you order) because Teaspoon collects points and often offers you 10% off your order once in a while. Stopped by Teaspoon to try out their drinks, partly because I had a birthday voucher to redeem and partly because there was a drink that caught my eye as I was browsing their menu (violet latte, when it was in season). I came in in the evening, since I figured traffic wouldn't be too bad. There were about 3 people in line ahead of me and 2 other groups waiting for their order. Another group had just received their order and was leaving. Despite this, the line moved pretty quickly and the order wait time was only minutes. The violet latte is a must try if you love ube and coconut. I ordered my violet latte with 25% sweetness, and less ice. The coconut milk and ube base made the drink a beautiful light purple color and made it a creamy ube flavor. I was pleasantly surprised to get quite a few bits of ube per sip. The ube chunks were not additionally sweetened and really complemented the sweetness already in the drink itself. They do accept credit cards, although I'm unsure if there's a minimum since I redeemed my birthday voucher. They have a parking lot shared with several other shops. Had a terrific experience with Teaspoon catering my sister's wedding in San Jose! I called about a month before the wedding in advance to prep the order, and Eva, the manager, was excellent at communicating with me over the phone and through email, answering all of my many questions and being patient as I had to revise the order many times. We ordered about 72 drinks for a wedding of about 80 guests during the cocktail hour, and on a super hot summer day, the drinks were a hit. I ordered about 30 house milk teas (some with boba/grass jelly and some without toppings), a dozen strawberry sangrias, a dozen ladybugs, a dozen lychee black tea with lychee jelly, and 6 taro lovers. Everything was gone by the end of the cocktail hour, but I did hear guests lament that all the ladybugs were gone, so I wish I had gotten more of that. I also wish I had gotten more of the taro lovers because we had a good number of kids at the event who wanted that. All the drinks were terrific though, and I am very thankful that Teaspoon Almaden even delivered (with delivery charge) the drinks to the venue and helped set up! Never realized this location was in one of the many plazas on Almaden - I'm not on this side of SJ often so this was a surprise. My partner and I went in at around 6pm on a weekday, not busy at all. The store was clean with cute interior. Staff greeted us and we appreciated that they weren't sitting on their phones unlike the other locations we've been to. We ordered through the kiosk. We went in wanting to order a milk tea. He ordered a hojicha milk tea at 50% sweet and I changed my mind to a silky mango with oat milk. We used to work at teaspoon so the flavors were pretty much the same (silky mango is my fav non-tea drink). As for the hojicha, the flavor was so-so. It tasted more like a mix of high mountain and hojicha. The sweetness level at 50% was a bit bland, but maybe our palate is still used to the way our old store calibrated the sugar machine lol. If it had tasted more like hojicha we felt like it would've been perfect. Other than that we will def come back to try our usual milk tea orders! read more
