I had been going to the Omelette House since they opened & was very sad when they needed to close. Now the location has re-opened as Tealside Diner. They are great! we have been to breakfast around 4-5 times, our food is always delicious - try their potato cakes, they are wonderful! A friend & I went there for lunch yesterday. We both had the cod basket, it was so good! The portions were large, the price was very reasonable, everything was fresh and great, right down to the (home made, it tastes like) tartar sauce & fry sauce. Will definitely be back, and have to try the dinner menu also.
I wanted to have an idea of what was served for lunches, so I went on the site to look for the lunch menu yesterday & saw some very ugly, mean comments from a couple, followed by comments from others who had not tried the place and based on the ugly comments that they read, were not going to try it. I feel that I need to say something, not to defend anyone, but because I do not like to see rumors being spread, based on false information or incorrect assumptions. I do not believe everything that I read, so when I went there for lunch, I asked to speak to the owner, who the mean comments had been directed to. He was not there, so I spoke to the 2 women working out front, and their version of the story was quite different from the nasty comments that I had seen. One of the ladies in particular told me that she is a long time employee, I had seen her at other times when I have been there, and always, ALWAYS all the employees here have big smiles on their faces, the cooks will smile & wave from the kitchen window & everyone is so very friendly, and it is a pleasure to be treated so well whenever I go there. Never have I ever seen anyone working there look or act apprehensive, nervous, jumpy or afraid. I have been in there at other times when the owner was there & none of the employees acted nervous around him, either. The atmosphere there is great & I never have sensed any tension from anyone. I know that my "rant" is long, but I felt that I needed to say something from my own observations of the place. read more
