Food is always good. Water is awful. Has really funky taste. The bigger issue though is some food made with alcohol. I was told it "burns off" because sauces are simmered so long and that they serve children and people on medication. Well, NO the alcohol did not burn off at all and I was slurring 1/2 way through breakfast. They have a beautiful aquarium right as you come in & that was entertaining for the kids while we ate cause they sat us next to it. This place is THE place for breakfast or brunch (you want to call ahead on the weekend). Their omelets are second to none. I have tried three times to finish one and only succeeded once. Their portions are awesome, and the food is fresh and delicious. Although, they're usually packed, it's not super noisy and the wait staff HUSTLES! We stopped by on a Thursday, and though it was pretty busy, we were sat right away. We sat at the bar area nearby the kitchen. Our server was immensely friendly and attentive. Their menu is loaded with breakfast goodness like omelettes, pancakes, crepes, and classic American breakfast platters. After some perusing, we both decided on the Western Omelette with buttermilk pancakes. We didn't wait that long at all before it was all ready. I honestly forgot how big their omelettes are but they are HUGE! Six egg omelettes loaded with tasty toppings and absolutely delicious. Their pancakes are fantastic too. It's rare that I don't finish my lunch, but this omelette was too big for me to finish, though I enjoyed every bite. This place is a must-try for breakfast fans in the Cincinnati area. Everything about this place is great except the wait, but of course the wait just tells you that everything else is going to be great. Everything you would expect for a nice breakfast is available and it's delicious. With the possible exception of the homemade corned beef hash, which in my case had very little corned beef and a whole lot of potatoes and it just didn't taste right. They were happy to refund me the cost and the lady at the counter even agreed that it was her least favorite thing on the menu, but corporate sends it out to them. The Original Pancake House is a weird chain. They're clearly franchised because every individual restaurant feels like its own entity. The Montgomery location is OG (in my head), Circleville has a strange amount of seafood options considering its location, and West Chester just straight up sucks. My favorite location is luckily the one that's nearest to me on the east side in Anderson. The Original Pancake House in Anderson is located in an old Pizza Hut buffet on the corner of Eight Mile and Beechmont. You're greeted by the host stand and an aquarium that, imo, probably costs way too much to upkeep but the aesthetic has already been established. The dining room is mid-size - definitely not large enough for its popularity, but they did the best with what they could given the size. The menu is filled with your typical breakfast items, obviously starting their namesake pancakes. The chain is known for their Dutch baby - a German style pancake topped with powdered sugar. They also have a large omelet selection. It takes a bit for them to be made, but if you're hungry, they're well worth it as they're large and in charge. I typically steer toward a normal breakfast plate since I'm a Goetta fiend. Give me some biscuits, Goetta, and eggs, and I'll be in heaven anywhere. I'm also a big fan of their potato pancakes since I'm a savory breakfast lover. They're thin, crispy, and it's always a large portion if you only get them as a side. This review has been sitting in my drafts for quite a while, and I'm sorry I haven't added onto the praise of one of my favorite east side breakfast joints. I had the apple waffles which were amazing. Our go to for breakfast. We usually leave with leftovers as the food is plentiful. They are usually busy and service is efficient. Recommend the corned beef hash breakfast and huge western omelette. The omelettes take a little longer but can last for three meals as there are6 eggs in them. Freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh beautiful fruit bowls are available and recommended. I've been wanting to try this one out for a long time as I've heard great things about them. They have a pretty extensive breakfast menu as you might imagine. I went with a Ham & Cheese Omelette which is a 6 egg omelette with ham cubes and aged cheddar cheese. This was a spectacular omelette with lots ham and the cheese both the shredded cheddar and the sauce really made this something special. Really filling and was just the perfect omelette in every way. As if that wasn't enough tge meal also came with 3 buttermilk pancakes (I mean it is the Original "Pancake" House). They were pretty good but a tad on the dense side (I prefer IHOP's to these). I would love to try out some of their more exotic menu options in the future but for now their omelette was a total win. read more

I have heard legends about the Original Pancake House and their Dutch Baby pancake for years, and had never been until today! My party of 5 came in and were seated immediately. Looking around the dining room, it all looked a little disheveled. Tables waiting to be bussed is a semi-common occurrence in this COVID era when businesses are understaffed, but that happening while 3 staff members sat at the counter chatting didn't leave me with a great initial impression. I ordered the Dutch baby pancake with a side of Turkey sausage links, and both were pretty good. The pancake was larger and more dense than I expected, so I got full pretty quick, but our whole table enjoyed their meals. This place is definitely a step up from IHOP when it comes to food quality, I just wasn't too impressed with the atmosphere, especially for how expensive some of their menu items are.
