*Coffee review only* Stopped in at this coffee shop while passing through on a Saturday. My iced vanilla latte was perfect. I sat for a bit in a side room with a couch, killing some time. They had a few muffins in plastic wrap available for purchase at the counter. There is a restaurant next door, and they feature the menu in the coffee shop. It is a bit confusing honestly, if you are ordering from the food menu.You have to go over to the other building for your food -- I didn't try the food but witnessed two confused customers. The set up isn't intuitive, but I assume they have a lot of regulars who already know the drill. Server was pleasant. Parking in a lot across the street. read more

My fiancée mentioned being here awhile back for work but never got to dine in for the full experience. He mentioned coming here. We checked them out on a Friday for dinner. At the time there was a man playing acoustic guitar. I noticed that the view from the back was the East Fork Miami River. Very pretty. They have plenty of seating outdoors. Inside is open and spacious. Open that there is no air. They serve coffee and lunch. At night they open up for dinner and libations. Their menu is basic pub and grub. I was interested in the pizza because they mentioned wood fired. We ordered: Drinks: Pinot noir Braxton Ballpark Beer Food: Burbage burger w/ fries Margherita pizza We got our meals less than 15 minutes. I tried my fiancées burger and it was super delish. Loved the seasoned coated fries. For the record, the pizza is not wood fired, but still good. You can either get it artisan, hand tossed or cauliflower. I opted for artisan. A little thick for me but I still enjoyed it. The service was great and for the alcohol pricing, very reasonable. Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy the outdoors. I love this coffee shop/restaurant/brewery! It is in a beautiful location with plenty of outdoor seating, including seats overlooking a woodsy peaceful creek. The space is much bigger than it first appears, with three separate buildings, multiple outdoor seating areas, a main coffee house, a bar, a kitchen, and tons of places to sit. The coffee was great. I ordered a vanilla almond milk latte, and I appreciated that they offered almond, oat, and macadamia milk for plant-based customers. They also had a great selection of syrups, including several sugar-free flavors. The person I was with ordered the avocado toast, which came topped with eggs that had perfectly runny yolks, along with a serving of large, crispy fries. Everything came out very quickly, and the service was friendly. The menu itself is large, with all-day breakfast as well as lunch and dinner options like burgers and pizza. One thing I would love to see improved is the gluten-free selection, or lack thereof. I asked about the granola, and it isn't gluten-free, and I didn't notice any other gluten-free food options on the menu. I used to LOVE this place!!! We came into town, brought family we all bought a different kinds of lattes (flavors/cold/hot) and not only did we have to wait 30 min for our drinks but these are not drinkable. They're so bad. No flavor. We went back and asked if maybe they forgot an ingredient and the girls added more syrup but it didn't help. She said well that one is supposed to be cold so that may be why it doesn't taste right (then why would you let me order it) and no, that wasn't the issue because none of our drinks are good. We also saw them add a water base. I'm not sure what they're doing but they definitely need more training. Can't believe we spent $50 on something we are throwing in the trash. read more

I remember stopping by this place when I was working for Stagnaro Distributing. It was only to take their beverage order, but I really liked the vibe of this place. Coffee and breakfast in the mornings, beer (and other adult libations) and pub grub in afternoons and evenings. So my fiancee and I decided to stop by one evening for dinner. Their menu is loaded with lots of pub grub favorites likw pizza, sandwiches, burgers, salads, wings, and more. Their libations menu is pretty nice too. The place itself consists of two buildings, one that serves coffee in the mornings and a second one that does lunch and dinner. There's lots of outdoor seating including an area that overlooks the East Fork Little Miami River. There's lots staff are all very friendly and welcoming. For our drinks, my fiancee had a Pinot Noir and I had a Braxton Ballpark Beer (a German style light lager). For our food, she ordered a Margherita pizza on an artesian crust, and I had the Burbage burger with fries (fries are a $3 upcharge). They feature live music on weekends so there was a guy playing acoustic guitar that night and he was pretty good. We didn't wait long at all before everything was ready. They say their pizza in wood fired, but honestly, it doesn't really look or taste that way. It was still pretty good though. My burger was excellent and had a great combination on sweet and spiciness. The fries were almost like steak fries and very well seasoned. Overall, I could see going back here again, though maybe not so much for the pizza. I might try their wings next time... Or their bourbon glazed meatloaf. read more

I had a late lunch here recently and thought it was pretty good. Not great or something I'd rush back for but it was decent enough for a weekday lunch. The service was ok. We were the only customers and it was still kind of slow service. Not the kitchen - the food came out fairly quickly. Servers tend to just linger in the bar area. But she was friendly and helpful when we had her attention. I had the Kick'n Chicken Sandwich, breaded. My daughter had the BBQ Chicken Wrap, breaded. It comes with chips and we stuck with that. The chicken was a bit dry. It wasn't burnt. It just needed a little less time in the fryer. The flavor was ok but the dryness made the chicken a little tough. Otherwise, it would've been good. The only thing saving this review is the fact that I love the seasonal coffee/drink options and the vibes in the old coffee shop and beautiful outlook over the river, but the food experience is awful. My husband and I went when the restaurant part opened up and tried not to be too critical because it was a learning experience for them, but service was extremely slow and it took forever to get the food which ended up being very underwhelming. Today, I went back with my 6 year old son for breakfast and ordered a sausage, egg and cheese croissant for myself ($8) and an avocado toast ($13) for my son. I explicitly asked for my son's avocado toast to not have hot sauce, but when they brought it out, the egg was coated in hot sauce underneath to where we couldn't see it and didn't know until he bit into it. It took almost 30 minutes to get our two things when there was only one other table with two people who weren't even eating in the whole place. I took a couple bites of the avocado toast to see how hot it really was or if my kid was just being a complainer, and the taste was overwhelming! He tried to still eat the egg, but couldn't take more than probably three bites. The waitress was really sweet, but didn't even come around again until it was time to give me the check. when I told her that his food still had hot sauce on it, she said "I put it in for them to not have it on there, I'm sorry" and then took the payment. I'm not one to argue for a discount or replacement because I understand things happen, but we will not be returning for anything other than the coffee shop. read more

First time there.. it's a confusing set up, since we went into the coffee area first (to order a drink first) and was told if we wanted coffee and food to go next door, and then at the restaurant we were told they didn't have a complete menu for the coffee. We had to walk back to the coffee shop so my daughter could figure out what she wanted. Then went back to the restaurant and after taking our order our waitress never checked back for refills or to let us know the status. Waited for at least an hour for our food, (We got there a little before noon), but we ended up leaving before we got our food. Disappointing cause the restaurant and location are so nice. read more

Cute little place that is expanding! I heard they will have a pizza oven and other yummy food options and date opening is TBD. I've been many times for coffee and their current food menu. The chili is SO good!!! If you're in a hurry, this isn't your place, as it has always been on the slower side every time I've been. But if you don't mind a little wait, it is worth it! Food itself was okay, mainly curious on the pizza. Ordered the margarita pie, advertised as Wood Fired on the menu but what I received was definitely not wood fired. No char or crispness, a thicker and fluffy crust that seemed almost premade with no sauce on it.... Just bread and an abundance of cheese... Certainly not a traditional margarita pizza by most people's standards and almost certainly not a wood fired pie. Service a much bigger problem than the food. I went for the chocolate covered strawberry chai latte. It was amazing!!! I've also tried an iced red velvet latte but it wasn't sweet enough for me even though you could tell it had lots of flavoring in it. The coffee was strong and I personally didn't like the taste. I don't think extra flavoring would have made it better. So I just get the chai every time. I like the different flavoring options that they have. The parking was confusing. Very local place with no competition. I love the additions to the outdoor seating. Was a bit chaotic trying to coordinate where we could dine because some areas outside were empty which would have the server running from one end of the place to another. My husband is a pizza man and for months we've been wanting to get down here to try. It was a Friday dinner time, they only had a handful of customers but it was packed by time we left which also resulted in very slow service to cash out. I think most of the customers were there for beer and that really tapped the server trying to tend to tables who were having dinner. Now for the food: I've always been very impressed by the food here but nothing about any of our meals left us with the desire to return. At least not for food. The pickles and cheese curds...fabulous! Though I will say we were charged $0.50 for sauce that we didn't order. I just assumed it came with it as all we ordered was the appetizer we never mentioned Chipotle ranch. ‍ I let that go and didn't mention it because again it took forever to get our check and then cash out. The pizza I bet is a commissary type dough already prepared. It was dry and cracker type crust. The poor BBQ chicken wrap was burned and flavorless. The meatloaf, which I have had before and liked was barely warm yet it was busy by that point and there was no way time to ask for it to be heated. I didn't care for the presentation of the meatloaf entree. Overall, it wasn't the experience I've had here when they were smaller. I would avoid ordering lunch here on weekdays. I waited over an hour then had to go to the bar to ask for the food. It was not very busy when I was there. I was told to wait ten minutes. After ten minutes I left. Employee then ran after me into the street to give me my wrap. Stick to espresso drinks on the older coffee side. The food might be fine if I get to it. My husband and I finally got a chance to stop by to try their food. They don't have an extensive menu but good enough variety in my opinion. There are dishes for meat lover and some choices for vegetarian. The style of service is you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. If you need refill for your drink you will also need to come in to get it at the counter. A little inconvenient but I think that's okay considering probably short of staff. I didn't mind it. The lady is really nice, she explained everything and recommends drinks and food. I ordered the veggie quesadillas and my husband has the chicken quesadillas. It was a nice day so we sat outside on their patio. The patio is big and not crowded, in a sense they do t pack it with too many table and seats. There are counter facing the river, picnic table style for big groups. Overall, the food is good, atmosphere is nice, service is good. We'll be back to try their breakfast and brunch. We would suggest for them to setup a bushing cart though so people can drop of their dirty plates and basket, so the staff don't need to clean up after. Just a thought. read more

First I would like to say that Caroline(our server) was very good. She worked hard at her job, always had a smile. The food was mediocre, the first items we ordered ( meatloaf sandwich and wings) were not available. We then order pork sliders and a plain burger on sour dough bread. The burger came out on a croissant , flavor of burger was so so. The pork slider were ok. The beer selection was poor, no dark beer to offer and then asked if t hey had any Yuengling beer; was told no. I was surprised since there was advertisements for this beer. Cute little spot along the river. It was conveniently located between our hike at Rowe Woods and before we got on 32 to head to Hocking Hills. We were traveling with our dog and needed a place we could take her. The gal at the counter was friendly and helpful and gave us a sample. We tried a cider and a beer of the 8 available and ended up ordering the spiced cider and shotgun wedding. Both were very good. I ordered the veggie quesadilla, which came with some salsa and sour cream that it did not need. I was a little nervous because one of the ingredients was their homemade slaw, but you barely noticed the slaw and the quesadilla was delicious! My husband's chili was so so. A little thin and tomato-ee for our tastes despite the addition of jalapeños. Based on the rest of our experience, I would still recommend the spot. I have been here several times to grab a quick take out latte in the morning. The location is very nice. Parking isn't the greatest, as it is mostly street, with the exception of 2 reserved take out spaces, but it is free! There is a really nice outside patio overlooking the river with plenty of seating. Indoors there is the main order area, then 3 separate rooms with either couches or table seating. There are several TVs for entertainment. I love the atmosphere! Everyone here seems so happy and chatty with eachother, its a nice spot for the community! The concept of Bean and Brew is that they offer not only coffee & coffee drinks made with Deeper Roots Coffee, but also Beer from Sons of Toil Brewing. Beyond this they even have food! There is a breakfast menu as well as lunch/dinner items. In addition to everything else they also offer branded items for purchase such as tshirts and growlers. I have even seen local honey for sale! My drink thus far has been the Macadamia Milk Latte with Lavender and vanilla. It is a little pricey for the size (comparable to other coffee shops), but its nice to support local businesses. I'm going to preface this with saying the first time I came here was incredible. The atmosphere, the coffee, the service was all fantastic. I've been back twice since then and there is a different girl running the cashier and making the drinks, and while the drinks are still great, I feel unwelcome when I arrive. I am not greeted with the same energy as the lady who was so excited to offer me her new Thin Mint latte. This place has so much potential and it's sad to see how different employees can change the experience drastically. Update- I just got the pork egg sandwich and there were two bones in it. The Bean and Brew is finally open, and I am so excited for it! I went into work late last week because I had a few doctor's appointments, and in between appointments, I decided to stop by. I ordered my favorite flavor (hazelnut) with one of my new favorite alternative milks (oat). It was freaking delicious. I will say that the latte was stronger than anticipated and didn't taste much like hazelnut, BUT that was fine with me because the espresso they used was SO dang good. It was rich and chocolate-y and I loved it so much. I am so happy this place is open, and I will definitely be back. read more
