I've been on the hunt to find awesome sushi around Cincinnati. I'm from LA and Toronto, so truthfully, my food standards are pretty high. A friend recommended this place and so I thought I'd give it a try. We did a to-go order and my test to any Thai place is always the Pad Thai, so of course we ordered that. We also ordered the Zombie Roll, the Alaska Roll, and the Rainbow Roll. The Pad Thai was completely flavourless. My 5 and 8-year-old daughters immediately went to the spice cabinet and into our sauces to try to add any sort of flavour. The chicken in the Pad Thai was also flavourless but there was a lot of it and it was tender and not tough, so that's a plus. The rolls are eight small pieces made mostly of rice with very little filling. The fish on top of the Rainbow roll was all tough and dry. The Zombie Roll was hard to taste because the sauce on top overpowered the rest of the roll. The wasabi looks like it has food dye in it because it's a bright green. Overall, a very expensive disappointment. I've tried a lot of places and so far, the best sushi I have found is actually at Jungle Jims in Eastgate. The lady will make it fresh to order and it never disappoints. They don't have a lot of exotic rolls but if you want good quality, fresh sushi, I'd recommend checking them out. read more

Such a fun date spot or dinner with the girls! Their menu is absolutely fantastic with great Thai and sushi options. The server gave great recommendations for food and drinks! My boyfriend ordered the Teak trio and wonton soup and I ordered a house salad with ginger dressing and the angry dragon roll. We both very much so enjoyed our choices! I will say-- definitely make a reservation because this is definitely a hot spot. With this new location, having a reservation allows you to avoid a wait. We definitely will be back! read more

I got the basil fried rice with chicken and the spicy tuna roll and my god it was absolutely delicious. The fried rice had fresh veggies in it and plenty of basil, so much flavor! I hadn't been here since it was in Mt Adam's and admittedly was a little hesitant to go in as it was packed and I worried the service world suffer. Couldn't have been more wrong. I forgot to take pictures of our sushi, but wow was it good! We started with the Asian mojito, strawberry marg and sashimi appetizer. The Asian mojito was unique and delicious. We also got a couple of rolls. My boyfriend used to live for NYC sushi, and he said this sushi lived up to that. Very fresh and great flavors! Besides the food, the service was A+. I cannot remember our server's name, maybe Chayla? Sorry, I can't remember her name, but she was awesome! So attentive! I was able to make a same day reservation and sit outside. Beware of the spice! Was warned by others that some of the appetizers weren't great so we didn't get any. My wife and I both got the Vegetable Thai Spicy. I got a 3 (minimum), she got a 4. Couldn't even handle a second bite it was so hot. They were good about it and brought us other dishes - the pad thai (bland) and the veggie fried rice (tasty). The restaurant is way too crammed and felt almost claustrophobic. Then food was way spicier then the level ordered, couldn't eat a single bite without chugging a class of water. The server was kind enough to get it remade but when the remade food came . Chicken was over cooked and look and tasted like rubber , had no cashews despite being called cashew chicken and the eggplant dish barely had any eggplant. Service at this place is good. My wife ordered the mushroom soup and she really like. I got the yellow curry chicken and I was not really a fan off. Wifey got a salmon which it was very salty. A good friend of mine who used to live in Cincinnati was in town this weekend and very excited to visit one of his favorite restaurants, Teak. He used to eat there all the time when it was located in Mt. Adams. We arrived at 1:00 and were immediately seated. The waitress was very friendly and took our drink and food orders: Pad Thai with Shrimp, spice level 4 and Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken, spice level 8. The food came out hot and absolutely terrible. Totally bland. Zero taste. There was so much egg in the Pineapple Fried Rice that I ended up scooping out huge chunks of it. When we expressed our disappointment to the waitress, she said, "Sorry." That's it. No offer of another dish or having it remade. We left full plates of food on the table and she brought the check. No offer of comping a meal we clearly didn't enjoy or eat. We told her we wouldn't be back. Her response: "Okay." Wow. On an interesting note, we went around the corner to have a drink at another establishment and mentioned we'd been at Teak. Before we could say anything else, the server said, "Oh, my gosh! We used to frequent the Mount Adams location often, so I was incredibly excited for Teak OTR. Our family loves the Chicken Thai Spicy dish so we were very glad to see our old favorite back on the menu. The first time we tried it at the new location it wasn't quite the same, but I'm happy to report that the second time was pretty close to the old days! Teak is overwhelmed. For a 6pm Sunday reservation before a 7:30 symphony, they were overbooked and understaffed. Everyone there seemed in the same situation. People we standing outside waiting to get in with reservations as were we for 25 minuets. I can't tell if the food was good or not because we had to eat so fast . I am always skeptical of a place that does two cuisines because it can be hard to do both well. I went here for sushi but think maybe their strength is the Thai food. I ordered enough sushi for a small family and some rolls were better than others. Steer away from the 1200 race, the lobster sauce did not pair well with it. I did enjoy the JLo and Christmas in July. There are lots of fried rolls if you like those. As for appetizers, the yellowtail jalepeno tasted better than it looked but I would not recommend unless you are big fan of yellowtail. I try that dish at every sushi spot that offers it, this one is about 2.5/5. We also did the edamame and the heart attack. The heart attack was the highlight of the appetizers but is very Americanized sushi. The edamame was mediocre. We sat outside on the patio. The hightops facing the street let's you see the character of downtown cincy but also smells a tad sewers. It might be better in the late fall/springtime. Overall, if you like Americanized sushi this is your spot. If you like authentic sushi, pass or maybe try their Thai menu. read more

Lovely ambiance. All the Teak classic favorites on the menu! It was my first time trying Red Curry - level 3 was the lowest, it was quite spicy! Very good & fresh in flavor - not overdone, but not as creamy as I've grown to like. Still I really enjoyed it and the leftovers were even better. A large portion for the price! We were first on the list for a 8:30 reservation and were told to wait for 10 minutes for a table but in reality it was 30 minutes. Why set a reservation if you are not able to eat at that time? Then when we were finally seated we placed out orders and I ordered Crispy Duck and the server waited another 30 minutes to inform me that they did not have any Crispy Duck available. The manager was nice enough to not charge us but in reality we had calamari and wine but had basically been waiting for about an hour from time of entrance. Only because we have ate here before we were not extremely upset. The service has never been this bad and last night was the pinnacle of bad service nights. Luckily Revolution Rotisserie was able to save the day for us. read more

Hands down the best chicken stir fry of my life. Try the Pepper Garlic. You won't be sorry. My husband enjoyed his sushi and sashimi but also finished my stir fry and was extremely impressed. If we'd been at home we would have fought over who would lick the plate! Sadly, home is 4+ hours away. We may get some to take with us before we leave! read more

I was so excited to try this place after hearing good things. It was easy to order over the phone, and ready in a timely manner. We ordered two lunch entrees - pad Thai and cashew chicken, both MILD. The pad Thai was bland, but SO SPICY. It was covered in chili flakes, despite the fact that I ordered mild. We had to toss it :(. The restaurant closed shortly after I picked up my order so I wasn't able to call and try to correct the situation. I also realized after we left, that the menu price was $6 for veggie pad Thai, but I was charged $9. Would have probably overlooked that if I was able to eat it! We were SO excited and have waited and waited for this Mt. Adams favorite to finally open in OTR! And open they finally did! The decor is nice enough, sparse-modern with sparkly light fixtures, albeit tighter than the Mt. Adams location, which is understandable, as the space is much smaller. We have been 3 times and had a number of dishes. Seafood Choo Chee Curry was great. Massaman curry my husband enjoyed, I found very bland. Had a Duck dish, duck was overcooked. Spring rolls good but basic. Calamari - mostly flour/breading didn't taste any calamari. We've had a number of sushi rolls; quality is good (not great) but very small in comparison to every other sushi place we frequent (my 15 yr. old daughter orders 2 rolls here- at every other sushi restaurant just 1 is sufficient.) Teak OTR is relatively new, although the same folks had a place in Mt. Adams for years. I've been giving them the benefit of the doubt because 2020 has to be the suckiest year ever to open a restaurant, but tonight 2 of 3 items we ordered for pick up were wrong. One was missing completely, one was not as ordered, and the "right" one was almost too salty to eat. My eyes will be swollen shut in the morning. This is our 2nd or 3rd incorrect pick up order (our bad for not at least checking for the right number of items before leaving the store). Hate to give a new place a bad review, but they need to up their game. We want them to succeed here. read more

I really enjoyed the sushi that I ordered from this restaurant. The honeybee specialty roll might be my favorite specialty roll in the Cincinnati area. I tried it for the first time last night and it was really delicious and had every ingredient that I usually like in sushi. The spring rolls that I ordered were also delicious... Crispy and extra tasty dipped in the accompanying sauce. I also ordered pork belly fried rice which, honestly, I was a little disappointed with. I paid extra for the pork belly and found mostly greasy chunks of fat mixed into my rice with not a lot of extra flavor. I think they could've done a better job finding pork belly cuts that held up better to the rice. Otherwise, it was a good helping of rice, and definitely was enough for dinner and lunch the next day. I would be willing to try other items from this restaurant I just don't think I will be paying extra for toppings like pork belly because this time it wasn't worth the price. read more

I used to love Teak when it was in Mr. Adams. I was excited to try it again. Unfortunately, it isn't nearly as good as it used to be. I think they mixed up our spice levels, the chicken curry didn't have any rice, the sushi portion was small for a $12 roll and the pad Thai was average to below average. That used to be my favorite dish, this version wasn't even close. Ordering was quick and friendly and pick up was fine.
