I love the convenience of this location but if I'm going to feel like a ghost then I would rather go somewhere else.

There are five different levels of roasts (light, medium light, medium, medium-heavy, and heavy) of the same base Taiwanese Lishan oolong tea to showcase how a master roaster can draw out different flavors by varying the heat applied to the leaves. Each person selects their roast level, and watches as 3 grams of tea leaves is combined with 95 degree water for a 6 minute brew time. There is a small presentation associated with the tasting, so the total experience takes about half an hour. Best of all, it's free! Note that this tea is different from the tea used in their drinks. I got the bubble milk tea with cream, perfect sweet and less ice. The boba is perfectly chewy and, the cream gives the drink a thicker, more velvety mouthfeel. The sweetness and cream perfectly balance the tea. Yum!

How was this review over 6 years ago?! Def needs an updated review:…read more Stopped in here yesterday during my quick lunch break. Ordered the tofu sandwich and matcha with the soft foam. My order total ended up to be around $14. First off, the tofu sandwich!! I'm not sure how they used to make it 6 years ago, but now I'd say it is one of the best I've tried. The sandwich came out warm, they sauté the tofu in a sauce, which I'm guessing is oyster sauce and it gives it a lot more flavor. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. For the matcha, I was not expecting it to be anything special since it's a boba shop. After taking the first sip, I was shocked on how rich the matcha was and it was delicious!

Now, 6 years later I am still coming here to get crispy pork belly banh mi and have started getting the hazelnut milk tea with boba. I haven't drank bubble tea in a long time and wasn't sure what to order. Ngi recommended the hazelnut milk tea with boba and I was not disappointed! I recently became a painting contractor. I don't have an office yet. So Goatea owners Tan & Tran have been incredibly nice and have been letting me use their space to hold interviews and new hire one-on-ones. I got the oolong milk tea, my husband got the crema coffee and my son got the strawberry slushie with lychee. The young lady at the front was VERY cordial and took time to explain everything to me followed by a gentleman who also expressed that their syrups and teas are specialty made. I was very happy with my experience there and plan to go back in the future! One thing I liked was their attention to explaining how too much sugar or too little sugar would impact the drink (my husband and I prefer less sweet) so I really appreciated that! You order your drinks up at the counter using their kiosks, and they have a bunch of uniquely named drinks like their other location in Cap Hill, with some that are simply just strawberry matcha and mango matcha drinks, though this does keep in line with what a ton of people are crazily lining up for in this day and age (including myself). Since I simply got my drink and sat with my friend, I don't have anything to mention about service here. I got their No. 5 Elixir, which is a mixture of charcoal mango lemonade and a lot of mango bits. First and foremost, I'm happy that it didn't stain my teeth as I drank it, haha. But more importantly, it's sweet and tangy and was very refreshing even though weather was somewhat gloomy when I went. This is a very chill place to hang out at, and I can see myself coming here for a quick designer drink/blend. As of this writing, I still haven't tried all their stuff yet!
