Eh. I used to order from them all the time when I was in college and had fond memories so I placed a delivery order one rainy night when I didn't want to go out. There is a minimum for a delivery order so I got the sesame chicken with veggie fried rice, Chinese donuts, and fried wontons. The highlights were the sesame chicken and the donuts. The fried rice (you pay extra to make it veggie) was weird. The grains were yellow and thick and it had little flavor. It was unlike any fried rice I'd ever had and not in a good way. The fried wontons were inedible. They were hard and the meat inside was rubbery. The delivery person was nice and it didn't take long for it to arrive. I would have rather had a longer wait and better food. Will not order from them again. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. I've done pickup a few times and it was always fine then we started getting delivery and that's were it went wrong. They got our orders wrong not once, not twice, BUT FOUR TIMES. This last order was the last straw. We ordered delivery on Christmas night and they said it would be an hour because they were busy, that's fine. We place our order and wait. An hour and a half pass so we call and they tell us it's on the way. Sure enough it was. It got here and we tipped (way more than necessary) and started eating. My husband around halfway through pulled a long dark hair from his teeth (my hair is blue) and it completely ruined his appetite of course. When I finish we put it away and start getting ready for bed. Husband says his stomach is hurting but we don't think anything of it. I wake up at the ass crack of dawn and try not to vomit on myself and rush into the bathroom throwing up and dry heaving. Bawling because of the pain in my stomach and the stench of my husband running in the bathroom with his cheeks clenched prior to me waking up. This up and down trying not to vomit and him not shitting the bed continues for the WHOLE day which made me call out of work and sleeping ALL day. Any sip of water I took came right back up and the taste of rotten fried rice (which is NOT what I wanted. I ordered white rice) made me cry even harder. It's pretty average Chinese food. I always order it for delivery so I've never been in the building but the drivers are usually nice and get your food to you in a timely manner. It's not the best food I've ever had but it fills you up on nights when you don't feel like cooking. I recommend the General Tso's chicken and the lo mein. I've also gotten some crab Rangoon and fried rice that was alright from there as well. I'm still looking for a really good Chinese restaurant in Columbia. read more

Honestly I can't even recall what I ordered, but I remember it was a decently large order since I got a massive brown paper bag. One of the most important aspects of a Chinese takeout meal is the fried rice, and on this end, Teapot severely failed. Their rice is terrible. The consistency was like the Uncle Ben's microwaveable bags. It had zero flavor whatsoever. I got some kind of battered chicken in a sauce, and it was evidently unmemorable as I can't even guess at what it was. I think I got an egg drop soup as well. Nothing remarkable. Columbia has a lack of good Chinese, and Teapot is no exception. Don't eat here. read more

Not a big fan. I've had multiple bad experiences from here. Once there was a piece of glass in my water, they brought me another water, but didn't even say sorry. The food usually has a reheated feel to it. I also don't like that they have a credit card minimum, that used to be a violation of the credit card agreement, but now it's legal, but I still don't have to like it. I will say that for some strange reason my experience with the delivery has always been much better than the times I've eaten there. read more

What a great Chinese restaurant. The food is always excellent at Tea Pot. We usually request for the Chinese menu when we are at this restaurant (it's a different menu than the one that you give you when you first enter the restaurant). We have tried many different things on their menu and everything is great. My husband's favorite is the salt and pepper squid. As for me I have tried their Singapore noodles which was excellent and the General Tso chicken which is also excellent. And definitely do not miss their egg rolls. Now if you are eating in the restaurant do be prepared to wait for your food. It does take a while for the food to be served but I can totally see why as the food is awesome. read more

Ordered food online to be delivered. Ordered Hot and Sour Soup, Sesame Chicken and Chow Mein. It came in the time frame stated but when I sat down to eat my order was wrong. I checked the receipt and noticed that the receipt I received via email and the one they brought me stated my original order but then noticed not only did I not receive Chow Mein but they charged me two different amounts. I called to let them know, he said he had to talk to the kitchen. He came back and no joke first thing he says is, "You don't know what you talk about! You fine, food fine, you wrong" at this point I hadn't even brought up the difference in receipts because I was just going to let it go since it wasn't much--I just wanted my food. So I bring up the different amount charged and he goes and gets someone who speaks better English and she tells me that always happens because the internet charges the wrong delivery charge. That there was nothing she could do. I asked for my chow mein and she said told me what I got was chow mein. I told her I wasn't sure what I got but it wasn't chow mein and she said it was. I asked about the money she said there was nothing she could do. I advised her I would be more than happy to pay for what I got but that I wasn't paying the difference in receipts and that if she wouldn't fix the difference then I would dispute the charges all the way down to the fact that I did not receive what I ordered so I wasn't paying for it. Long story short other guy is in the back saying rude things I can hear over the phone so with no resolution I disputed the charges with my credit card company and now have to find a new go to place. They have the best hot and sour soup but this isn't the first delivery nightmare with them. I chalked the first up to just an off day. Moral of the story good soup, other food is just okay but rude and poor service. Oh and their chow mein supposedly doesn't come with noodles. (Though chow mein literally means fried noodles). Teapot is really good, authentic Chinese. The portions are large and the prices are relatively cheap. However, every time I order delivery it takes over an hour and I only live 4.5 miles away. If you don't mind the wait, Teapot is a good choice for Chinese in Columbia! read more

It was recommended by a neighbor as a good delivery. Although the Egg Foo Young was great and freshly made. - the most simple part of the order spare rib tips, wings and beef fried rice was horrible. The tips and wings tasted old as did the beef in the so called fried rice which was dry and had no other ingredients except the old tasting beef. $30 buck down the drain! read more

We've been ordering from Teapot (home delivery) a few times each year for several years. Usually we have a good experience, but the quality is declining. I would have emailed the business, but they don't have email, so hopefully they will read this. Problems: (1) I ordered the Spicy Trio for the first time on 8/31/12. Very disappointing. It wasn't spicy, just bland. It was about 90% onions with just a few pieces of meat that were overcooked, and no other vegetables. And, it gave me diarrhea, which is very rare for me. My husband's meal, Hunan Pork, had very little meat as well. (2) I normally get the Snow White Chicken, which used to be great. Originally it was loaded not only with chicken and broccoli, but also with red peppers, baby corn, and mushrooms. Now, they substitute the red peppers with a couple of mushy chunks of tomatoes, and include only a couple of token mushrooms and corns. I hope the business will return to the quality that made us like it in the past. Customers know when they are getting ripped off. read more

I have been ordering delivery from this place for years, but I have to say the last three times, something has changed and it was not for the good. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, I can tell it was scrapped from the bottom of the buffet pan. The chicken was very hard, it hurt to chew it, also I counted 18 peppers in the very sweet thick sauce. My mouth should have been on fire! They use to cook to order, now, not so much. I ordered my food with two other people, it was a pretty simple order but it took them forever to figure it out, even though we went over it about 5 times. Finally after waiting for 45 minutes they showed up (I wasn't far away at all) and when they showed up my food wasn't in the bag. So I then proceeded to call them back and have them give me my food and the man behind the counter who was either the owner or manager, wouldn't even give me a discount!!! The first two times I are here were great. The third time was so much different. Everything was over loaded with salt and MSG. The few bites I had were crunchy with salt as it hadn't dissolved. The fourth time I ordered here was the absolute mistake. It was pretty much inedible and we ended up throwing everything away after a couple bites.
