A few of the classic items like orange chicken, "man" chicken, coconut chicken, and crab rangoon weren't available, and overall the menu selection felt more limited than most Chinese restaurants. Another noticeable difference was the fried rice, which came pre-mixed with sauce rather than the usual drier style. It was actually really good. Entrées are reasonably priced (around $11-$13), and the portions are generous. I ordered a half portion of honey sesame chicken, and it was filling. I also tried what they described as a pork and cream cheese version of crab rangoon. It turned out to be quite different than what I was told by the cashier. There was no cream cheese, and the pork filling had a spicy kick. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. I would still consider ordering it again, knowing what it actually is. The employee at the register was friendly and helpful with my order. The location is convenient, especially with a bus stop right outside. It is easy for a quick grab-and-go meal. I have been a customer for decades. This is the best Chinese restaurant in Columbia. The food is always freshly prepared and consistent. The portions are large. I saw quite a few negative comments about the General Tso Chicken. This is my favorite and I have ordered it a lot over the years and it has been really good every single time. I have also never had an order done wrong. Any bad reviews you see are the usual bunch of idiots with nothing better to do. I have tried almost everything on the menu over the years and have never been disappointed. Needless to say the egg rolls are great! With the exception of a great Chinese restaurant in San Diego, the Egg Roll Chen's egg rolls are the best ones I have ever had anywhere. (The ones in San Diego were equally as good.) Looks can be deceiving it's very unassuming from the outside and the inside. The counter is very old school interior inside & out. The owner and staff are serving up authentic Taiwanese food, which is a huge plus for me. We ordered the special Beef Noodle Soup & Mapo Tofu. The soup may not have been the most flavorful broth we've ever tried, but I appreciate that we have this option here in Columbia, and the portion was generous. I really enjoyed my Mapo Tofu, I wasn't sure what to expect, not spicy at all for me, and they were very generous with the pork, I was expecting to see ground pork, so I was surprised to see the pieces of pork in my dish, it comes with a mound of rice, which is really overkill for me, but you won't leave hungry. My best friend always raves about their beef noodle soup! She was right it was so good one of my favorite and only dishes I have tried here. The broth was made out of beef and it had beef inside with noodles and some veggies. The broth was not salty at all! Which is a good thing for me. I am Taiwanese, and I love rice noodle soup. So I come here all the tibecause this is the only place around that serves it. However, I think it comes with too much noodle. So I usually ask them to make it spicy with less noodle, which is perfect. The broth is very tasty and doesn't make me super thirsty like many soups I get elsewhere. And I appreciate how accommodating they are to customize my order. One time, I asked for them to make it vegetarian. I'm not actually vegetarian, but I am trying to diet and have also been trying to cut down on meat. Anyway, the owner told the cooks "vegetables only" but when I got it, there was no noodle. At first I was disappointed. But then I thought, hey, no carbs! So I tried it, and it was really delicious. The vegetables were so fresh, and there was so much in there: Napa cabbage, broccoli, bean sprouts, carrots. It filled me up, and I felt great and didn't get the afternoon sleepy like I usually do with eating carbs. I found my healthy alternative! As for the other dishes, if you're on a diet, you should avoid the popular Tawainese Yen Su Ji (fried chicken pieces), which is pretty greasy and comes in a really large portion with fried rice. I've tried the beef noodle soup, steamed dumplings, egg rolls, and chicken wings as well. I can't say that they were particularly memorable. I come here all the time just for one thing. Didn't know there was a Taiwanese place here in Columbia but overall their food was decent. The owner was really friendly and hooked us up with sodas. I ordered the beef noodle while my friend ordered fried rice. Beef was flavorful but a little dry. I didn't get a chance to try her fried rice but the the yen Su jee which is basically Taiwanese popcorn chicken was delicious. I came back a second time to order it.
