Shrimp Fried Rice w/7 piece Braised Chicken Wings
Jah'leel L.

Hello, Everyone I Am someone who has come to this great city of Columbia due to work. In the mood for some Chinese I come across them special Gem "Peking Wok II", and may I say they did not disappoint. The customer service was 10/10 especially her going over the menu with me being a first timer . I decided to get the Shrimp Fried Rice w/7 Braised Chicken Wings... omg ! The food was amazing, fresh, and full of flavor . Might I add I ordered 7 and ended up with 8 chicken wings. On top of that she told me the food would be ready in 10 mins and she kept her word. With all that being said I washed it down with a Large homemade lemonade and it was amazingly good. I will be back !

Amazing Chinese food! Once I move from up North to the South I always said how hard it is to find good quality Chinese food and I think I've finally found it! The food is super tasty and fresh. I got the lunch special with chicken and broccoli and substituted plain white rice and spring roll. The chicken was wight meat and wasn't fatty like some places. The sauce was rich but not overpowering. Also, the broccoli still had a nice crunch to it. My favorite part was the rice, yes plain white rice. It was nice and fluffy, I could eat it on its on. The spring roll was average as it was a little on the small side and little filling (forgot to take picture). I've had better but it was still tasty. Everything was piping hot and tasted great! When I went to pick up my call in order there were plenty on people waiting and more coming or calling in. The two young ladies were working hard to get everyone's order out. The inside is very clean and there's plenty of seating if you prefer to dine in. The prices are great and you get plenty of food. Definitely a quick lunch option if you're in the area.

No frills counter with hardly any menu.

Pure definition of the American-style Chinese food take out establishment, though they do have seating for you if your tiny heart desires. Strip mall location just down from Food Cheetah which provides ample parking to go along with the ample portion sizes served. Called in a lunch special order and received the standard "10 minute" response, which I love. Our order took about 15 minutes, but I was able to watch the wokmaster get jiggy with it as I waited, which was nice. Their lunch specials are like $5.65 plus tax and include fried rice (no meat), and your choice of either an eggroll or an iced tea/lemonade. Run with the eggroll homie...you don't wanna be gettin' no sweet tea from a Chinese joint. HUGE portions served up hot and freshly made. It's totally no frills inside and had the most limited in-house menu board I've ever seen in a place like this. No worries though as they have paper takeout menus you can look over before you order if you wish. No WiFi, but the State Board of Health has rated them with an A (as you can see with the sign on the door) and you can see right into the kitchen, so that's a good thing if you like to know you're getting food from a tidy restaurant. They also have separate male and female bathrooms if you need one. If you're looking for a great value on American style Chinese food, I doubt you'll do better anywhere else in all of Columbia. This place is cheap, it's clean, it's fast, and it's good. Pick up the celly and dial Hammerhead.

I ordered honey chicken and crab Rangoon's. The food was awful honey chicken was hard and tasted disgusting. The crab Rangoon were gooey and the filling tasted off. I will not be back.

Just okay. Rice was very very bland. It just tasted like white rice but looked brown. Onions are barely cooked and still flavorless. Pork egg rolls were okay, lots of cabbage and not really any pork. We ordered the fried dumplings but I think we got the fried wontons because it was a different crunch. They were good and I'd order them again but the sauce isn't great. The crab Rangoon is basically just very sweet cream cheese. Got very hard quickly. The beef with mixed veggies (no veggies) was very fatty. It wasn't good at all, Had to spit most of it out. The sweet and sour chicken is fine, I think it tastes the same at every restaurant so no complaints on that. The food was hot and they were very quick. Very nice too. $24 total for all of it. Pricey and not satisfied

I was shocked and impressed by the quality of Americanized Chinese food here. We got the boneless spare ribs, general tsos chicken, broccoli beef, and steamed dumplings. All were good, some was exceptionally so. The highlight was the general tsos which was perfectly crispy and surprisingly spicy which I love for this dish. Also, not to be overlooked were the eggrolls that come with the entrees. Very nice as well. Also, the place is cheap. Bottom line is even my very picky NYer wife gave this place the thumbs up which she almost never does for Chinese outside of her home state. Definitely worth trying...

I got the Mongolian Chicken dinner combo. Way more food than I can eat. It's spicier than other Chinese places but super delicious.

Imperial chicken with shrimp lo mein

After trying several Chinese restaurants in Columbia...this one is my favorite. I love their chicken and broccoli with the house fried rice. They also have great cheap wings. I have also tried the dragon and Phoenix and loved that as well. Today I tried the imperial chicken with shrimp lo mein lunch special. It was good...kinda reminded me of sweet and sour chicken. The lo mein had a little too much sauce but overall good flavor. Definitely give this place a try!

General tso chicken, sesame chicken, crab rangoons.

JJ's Tea House has been a staple for years and I am so glad I finally got a chance to try them…read more Their pork based broth is so flavorful and perfectly balanced. Their noodles have a great texture to them and make their soups absolutely standout from the rest. The shrimp bao buns have great texture and flavor! The staff is friendly and the service is quick! I had my order to go but the interior is nice. You can tell it's a mom and pop shop and it truly feels like someone's grandmother is making the food back there. Service was quick, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming--especially thanks to the owner, who is absolutely adorable and always greets guests with a big smile. I ordered the unagi rice bowl, and it was amazing. The eel was cooked perfectly--tender with just the right amount of char--and the sauce had a great balance of sweet and savory. The steamed egg is one of my favorite sides. We also tried the crispy tofu appetizer and the popcorn chicken rice bowl. The tofu was super crispy and flavorful, though the popcorn chicken could use a touch more seasoning. To top it all off, I had a green tea with boba, and the boba was cooked perfectly as always--soft and chewy with just the right texture. Highly recommend JJ's for a cozy lunch with delicious food and friendly service!

What's hot - Menu. It's a pretty extensive menu- meats, veggies, tofu, maybe even for vegans. - Service. For ordering food for a family of 6, our order was ready in about 20 minutes. Everything was properly wrapped up. Nothing was missing. When I gave them the name for our order, everything was ready. They're also open during major American holidays, such as Christmas and New Year's, which is very helpful. - Location. Pretty easy to find in a small plaza with other shops. When we went on Christmas Day, all their tables and chairs were pushed to the side, so I'm uncertain whether they're currently doing table service or if it's just take away orders. - Price. Very reasonable, especially given the portions. If you order a quart, versus a pint, it's less than $10, which includes white rice. What's not - Quality. As a child of immigrant parents, who grew up in Silicon Valley, CA, where there is a large community of Chinese immigrants, I can say that this is not authentic Chinese food. It's catered for the local American population. The flavor and seasoning of the food is very generic. For example the difference between my spicy garlic tofu and vegetable delight was only the tofu. All the vegetables between the two dishes were literally the same, including the sauce/taste. With that said, it's not terrible. For Americanized Chinese food, it works. Final Answer Wouldn't be my first choice for quality Chinese food, but it's reliable.
