While I search and search for the perfect Chinese food here in town or abroad I never really find the total package. Growing up in Woodfield this perhaps was the Chinese restaurant my parents ordered from especially when it was take out food to bring home. Not knowing much about Chinese cuisine I often ordered sweet and sour chicken then slowly moving to the pork version. As I got older I got bourbon chicken and many other dishes here mostly to bring home. Too many choices not of revolving specials and cash only which is a pain the ass when you're no where close to a dam ATM on Decker or nearby. The wings are good and they usually get my order right over the years. I enjoy the new people running the place even though I'm sure they have been working here over ten years.

Caution: the only thing I've EVER gotten here since childhood are Eggrolls and General Tso Chicken, and so will you. I used to come here almost daily in high school, and then I moved away. I've often wondered if the food was as good as I remembered after 10 years. I came to town for a visit and stopped in. Fortunately I brought cash. They never had a credit card machine and still don't. I ordered the General Tso Chicken and eggrolls. It was exactly as good as I remembered. I burned every part of my mouth. The eggrolls are just the right amount of peppery, and much larger than those you find in other places around the country. I could eat a meal of just 4 of those and be happy. The General Tso Chicken, though, is so so wonderful. The sauce is so good I asked for extra in a cup and put that on my eggrolls. It comes with broccoli in it and perfectly fried rice (ham-fried is extra but also delicious). If you stick to this order you'll be happy. I've never strayed, but what I've tasted of others' food is normal-good, whereas this order is über-good.

food is ok but the male owner is ridiculous! I told him Chicken sticks and fried rice. I paid over $10 and then noticed the sign after that said Special $6.50 for the same thing! I inquired and was told that I didn't say I wanted the special! Then saw a charge for sweet and sour sauce on my receipt. When I asked what that was for, I was told it was for tap water. Never again! There's a new Chinese restaurant down the road that we'll be trying! and to add to this now that the food has arrived, the chicken sticks taste like shoe leather. Totally overcooked and the shrimp in the rice smells fishy!

Their noodles have a great texture to them and make their soups absolutely standout from the rest. The shrimp bao buns have great texture and flavor! The staff is friendly and the service is quick! I had my order to go but the interior is nice. You can tell it's a mom and pop shop and it truly feels like someone's grandmother is making the food back there. Service was quick, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming--especially thanks to the owner, who is absolutely adorable and always greets guests with a big smile. I ordered the unagi rice bowl, and it was amazing. The eel was cooked perfectly--tender with just the right amount of char--and the sauce had a great balance of sweet and savory. The steamed egg is one of my favorite sides. We also tried the crispy tofu appetizer and the popcorn chicken rice bowl. The tofu was super crispy and flavorful, though the popcorn chicken could use a touch more seasoning. To top it all off, I had a green tea with boba, and the boba was cooked perfectly as always--soft and chewy with just the right texture. Highly recommend JJ's for a cozy lunch with delicious food and friendly service!

What's hot - Menu. It's a pretty extensive menu- meats, veggies, tofu, maybe even for vegans. - Service. For ordering food for a family of 6, our order was ready in about 20 minutes. Everything was properly wrapped up. Nothing was missing. When I gave them the name for our order, everything was ready. They're also open during major American holidays, such as Christmas and New Year's, which is very helpful. - Location. Pretty easy to find in a small plaza with other shops. When we went on Christmas Day, all their tables and chairs were pushed to the side, so I'm uncertain whether they're currently doing table service or if it's just take away orders. - Price. Very reasonable, especially given the portions. If you order a quart, versus a pint, it's less than $10, which includes white rice. What's not - Quality. As a child of immigrant parents, who grew up in Silicon Valley, CA, where there is a large community of Chinese immigrants, I can say that this is not authentic Chinese food. It's catered for the local American population. The flavor and seasoning of the food is very generic. For example the difference between my spicy garlic tofu and vegetable delight was only the tofu. All the vegetables between the two dishes were literally the same, including the sauce/taste. With that said, it's not terrible. For Americanized Chinese food, it works. Final Answer Wouldn't be my first choice for quality Chinese food, but it's reliable.
