Hey Yelp Fam, Happy New Year!! I'm excited to be back with Yelp Elite! Y'all know I'm always honest with my reviews. This also happens to be my first review of the year! If you're new here! Welcome! So, I was in Columbia with my sister, and we were looking for a new spot to grab some food. She mentioned a place she'd seen while driving called Egg Roll Express, so we decided to give it a try. If you're new here, one thing you'll learn about me is my motto for trying a new spot: "I always get the basics." I'll go with something simple, and if I like it, I'll come back and try something different. For our first visit, we went with a large shrimp fried rice, egg rolls, and chicken wings. Can't get more basic than that, right? To my surprise, the food was really good! I wouldn't give it 5 stars, but it's definitely a strong 4. The egg rolls were crispy and fresh. The shrimp fried rice was made with brown rice and tasted great. The portion of shrimp was generous, clean, and not at all mushy. The chicken wings were small, just how I like them. Prices were very reasonable--lower than expected--but the quality was solid. I plan to go back, and if you're in the area, definitely give them a try! read more

This was my first time trying this place out. We have lived near here for over 12 years and I can't believe I have never tried it! The lady who is the owner at the front was very helpful when choosing dishes. So we ordered the spicy Kung pow chicken and the spicy Hunan beef and the sweet and sour shrimp! The amount of food that we get is awesome, and the taste of food was very clean, and not too overly salty! I really loved how spicy it was. For a fast casual Chinese to go place the food quality and the service were A+ We will definitely come back and try the other dishes that they have to offer. This is my go-to Chinese food restaurant. The food is tasty, the serve staff pleasant, and the prices are reasonable. The last time I was there I had shrimp fried rice. I was thankful that the shrimp was properly devined. read more

For quite some time now there has been no chicken in their general tso's chicken. It's all just breading and often burnt.

Fast Friendly service My go to is the 6 cut wings and the egg fried rice perfect size generous portions.I tried the Mongolian beef and really care the meat was chewy and the sauce was very bland.Nice and clean on the inside Definitely worth stopping by to grab some great Chinese food on the go. read more

We stopped here on a trip and were just looking for something quick. It's easy to find, although there was road construction in the area at the time. There is a decent amount of parking adjacent to the building as well as across a travel lane. Handicapped parking is along the side of the building so you'll have a short walk to the front door. We were greeted as we walked in. It seems this is primarily a takeout place as there is seating for maybe 20. The owner (?) welcomed us and must have recognized this was our first time in. She was more than helpful in asking us what we were looking for and steering us to those items on the menu. The menu is extensive and covers a lot of expected items. Our food came out in maybe seven minutes. the sweet and sour chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was some of the best we have had. Just the right amount of sour to perk it up, but not too much to overpower the chicken. It was an excellent compliment to the dish. The rice was nothing spectacular, but certainly fine. The broccoli beef was also prepared very well. The beef was tender and the broccoli still a little crisp. Overall, this is a great little place for good, quick food. We have definitely placed it on the trip itinerary for the next time we travel through the area. read more

The orange chicken and general chicken were excellent... light crispy battery around nice sized pieces of chicken. The moo goo gai pan was very flavorful, many restaurants feature this with little flavor. All servings were large. The service was pleasant and attentive before, during and after our meal. Assisting my husband to get into and out of the restaurant was beyond what is required, but was greatly appreciated. The restaurant was very clean, smelled and looked clean. The decor was appropriate and not over done. We will make this one of our top Asian restaurants! read more

We recently moved to Elgin so we were looking for a Chinese takeout close to our new home. We wanted something not too out of the way, on the way home from work. We ordered sesame chicken, the combo fried rice, bourbon chicken, and steamed potstickers. The sesame chicken was okay. It could have used some more broccoli. There were only 3 pieces. The bourbon chicken was also okay. My husband really liked it. The fried rice combo included chicken, pork and ham. It had very little vegetables and no shrimp, which is what I'm used to seeing in a combo or house fried rice. I did not like the pot stickers at all. The wrap was very thick and the filling was very little. It was off putting. Overall, it wasn't horrible. It was just okay. I'll try another place next time. read more

I've been going to Eggroll Express since the 90s (Decker location) and I've enjoyed their food all these years. This review is for the Spring Valley location. If you're looking for authentic Chinese then you may want to try another restaurant. Eggroll Express is more along the lines of fast food with asian flair. Their namesake eggrolls are great, the chicken wings are yummy as well as cheap and their meals are generous as well as tasty. Everytime we order food to go our wait time is less than 10 minutes. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Something they do here that I really appreciate is them showing you your food before giving it to you. I would recommend their moo goo gai pan, general Tso's chicken and the chicken wings. If you're in the mood for asian food Eggroll Express should hit the spot! read more

I was looking on Yelp earlier to find something different. I hadn't had Chinese in a while so I decided to try them today. I noticed that all reviews were very favorable, so we tried them out. My daughter called and placed the order. They were very sweet and courteous and confirmed where we called and their location. Maybe this was because of our out of state area code. We came to pick up our food and was shown our order prior to leaving out. Everything looked great! Once home, the food was deelish! The kids and I enjoyed our food and the portions were hearty! I hate to say this because I loved this place. The prices and food were always great but recently they haven't been up to their own standards. Last visit my chicken was undercooked that I couldn't eat it because it was almost raw. The shrimp in the rice were so tiny and tasted like it was reheated in the microwave. Worst Chinese food on the planet. Ordered sweet and sour pork. Sauce was on the side and there wasn't one piece of bell pepper or onion or anything. Really? And the Chowmein was just as bad. There was plenty of each so if you want a lot of food you're not going to eat, go for it. But if you want good food then go somewhere else. read more
