I ordered chicken and broccoli Combo and added mixed vegetables. There was no sauce on the chicken and broccoli nor on the mixed vegetables. The rice was very plain as well. I also ordered fried dumplings and it was terrible. There was no meat only oil. I do not recommend. Not only that for a place called egg roll express, they have the worst egg rolls I ever tasted. This restaurant is pretty tasty however I only order the same thing I always order vegetable lo mein which is just noodles and vegetables ... Was in the Lugoff/Columbia area not too long ago and decided to stop off for something to eat. Can't really say I was in a Chinese mood for lunch, but I saw this place and got a little craving. There was no one here upon my arrival (customer's I mean), but the dining area was clean and the location itself was welcoming and open. I was quickly greeted by the woman behind the counter, who was patient with me (first time here of course), and was helpful in the best options that suited what I was looking for. I decided to go with the Mongolian Beef with white rice and of course an Egg Roll, considering the place is named after them. :-P So the Mongolian beef was good. Didn't really have the kick to it that I've experienced before, but it was still very tasty and I enjoyed it. Not over cooked or anything like that... which is great because there's nothing worse than chewy Chinese beef. :-/ The white rice was, well, white rice. I believe this would be the worst possible review ever had it been that bad with something as simplistic as rice. The egg roll, for me at least, was unimpressive. Of course it was packed full of the general stuffing, but for its size I actually expected a bit of meat bite to it and didn't get that at all. There wasn't a lot of flavor to it outside of the vegetables. Just not what I would have pictured as a great egg roll. All in all I would definitely come here again, but not so much for the eggroll experience. My husband gets their boneless chicken dinner combo and he likes. However I'm not a fan I've also had their sesame chicken it was bland . The crab Wontons don't come with the sweet sauce as you'd expect instead they come with a soy sauce . I recently gave them another try and got the bourbon chicken I couldn't even eat it all it was horrible super salty the sauce tasted like soy sauce with extra salt . They are the closest Chinese food place to us and I'd much rather have frozen Chinese food than have this . read more

First of all don't know why this place has 4 stars. The place it's self is fairly clean I think it's a brand new building but the food is bland and tasteless. You get what you pay for. Just moved to Columbia SC and have been looking for a clean, fresh, tasty Chinese restaurant. This place is not very close to our house but it's worth the fifteen minute drive. We ordered broccoli with garlic sauce, chicken wings and rainbow shrimp with ham rice. These were lunch specials under $7 and all came with ham rice and egg drop or wonton soup or ice tea. For .50 I changed my soup to hot and sour. Rainbow shrimp was delicious with lots of vegetables and lots of shrimp in a brown mostly soy sauce. Broccoli was fresh with a little spice kick. The flavor was delicious! OMG I am not a huge fan of ham but in the fried rice it's good and if you take it home and add some adobo seasoning or just garlic sauce from the restaurant also .50 and its magic!! Even dinner and combo prices for most items are under $10.! The lady at the counter will open your food container and ask if this is to your liking. Where do they do that ... No where ! I will definitely make this my fav spot with good prices, great taste and great customer service! read more

Absolutely, without question, the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Sent back the teriyaki chicken as it was anything but, and replaced it with bourbon chicken. This consisted of strips of mystery meat dyed red with zero sauce. There was a small black bug in my white rice! You had to pay extra for a fortune cookie and couldn't swap ham rice for vegetable rice without paying $2.50 extra. Furthermore, the soy & duck sauce was kept at the cashiers station and not on the table. Unbelievably poor experience all the way around. I can't believe they are in business. Egg Roll Express on Spear Creek R, dollar for dollar has the best Chinese food in the Northeast area. I've tried multi menu items and all have been to my liking. They will cook to order/change how a fish is made. Service is fast for the most part, normally in and out within 15 minutes. I call ahead for carryout, which is always ready upon my arrival.
