Best restaurant in Irmo. Portions are huge and food is flavorful and hot. I recommend sesame chicken lunch special and Singapore Mei fun.

Ordered Mongolian beef and Egg rolls. The Mongolian beef was good just had way too many onions though easily removed. The beef had some pieces that were very tough and chewy. The egg rolls were awful had better from grocery store freezer. The taste was bad the texture was like they were heated in microwave. Very hard and chewy could not eat. Gave to dog who couldn't even chew it and left on floor. Ordered at 9:00pm to-go and the lady kept telling me they close at 9:30. The food here is good. I came here on a busy night a couple weeks ago and watching the lady at the counter answer the phone calls, take orders and help others in the line place an order or pay for an order with such ease was quite a sight to see. She has a system and it works. They have a good size staff in the kitchen cooking all the food too and everything back there looked clean. I like how they don't hide the kitchen in the back, so you can see them all working hard to fulfill orders with nothing to hide. We usually order take out from Sun Ming but they were closed so we decided to try Hunan Wok. My husband enjoyed his Singapore Noodles and the extra veggies and said it felt "lighter and fresher" than Sun Ming's version. The chicken and broccoli stir fry was horrible. It was swimming in a sticky brown sauce that had a strong fishy flavor, which is not what you wanna taste when you're NOT eating fish. I also requested a side of fried rice (instead of white rice) and instead received (and charged for) an entire order of bland fried rice. We won't be ordering from Hunan Wok ever again. read more

Another great experience at Hunan! The steamed dumplings are my new favorite. I could drink the sauce that came with it. Nicely cooked and good flavor. The shrimp lo mein was pretty good. Will never come here again. Made a huge order. They gave me the wrong soup (I ordered Egg drop soup and they gave me Wonton soup). They also did not include the fried dumplings I paid for. This has been our "go-to" Chinese restaurant for years now. Fast service and great tasting food!

Kelsay and I don't normally eat Chinese food too often, so I suggested giving this place a shot one weekend to switch it up. I have to admit, I am a little picky when it comes to Chinese food. I personally only like to eat white meat chicken if I can, and Hunan Wok offers a white meat sesame chicken dish so I was excited to try it. It came out fresh, hot and pretty fast, and it was GOOD! The sesame chicken special comes with white rice (I'm sure you can substitute but I kept it) and it is a LOT of food, and you'll definitely have leftovers. Kelsay got the cut wings special, 7 honey wings and shrimp fried rice. The wings were delicious and the honey sauce was thick and flavorful! I'll definitely be trying the wings myself on our next visit! All in all, we would definitely recommend Hunan Wok! read more

After reading the reviews I opted to eat here. No problems with service and the restaurant itself. Some reviews noted low price. The prices were average to most Chinese restaurants in the area. I ordered the General's Chicken Combo. I knew the minute I tasted the pork fried rice I had made a mistake eating here. It was bland in the extreme. The chicken had a nice flavor but had no heat at all. This despite the warning on the menu. To add to all of this, the egg roll was curiously small. It tasted stock in trade except that the cabbage was overcooked. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Very disappointing! read more

Hunan wok is the best place on the iron to get chicken wings from. I have never been disappointed with the service of the staff there, nor the food. My go to flavor is the teriyaki hot but the honey and honey mustard flavors are good as well. I also like their lemon pepper wings. I usually love the wings at Hunan Wok because they are huge and the flavors are always delicious, but today I was not impressed with my order. I had 4 TINY wings in my order of 12. In the photos I attached I included a wing that is the size of what they normally have there compared to the little ones they included this time. The best carry out Chinese food in this area for sure. I switch around items and have liked it all. My husband loves all the Egg Foo Yung they make, especially The House. The sIsters that own it are a delight. They are fast and take no prisoners in demeanor. They both work hard at keeping things running smoothly. We have eaten our food there but it really is not conducive to eat in. I gave it five stars for a carry out Chinese restaurant not as a fine dining experience.
