THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO BUSINESS RUNNING A BUSINESS. Ordered a dish that doesn't contain shrimp. Put in notes in capital letters SHELLFISH ALLERGY. Then stated, no fish sauce or fish products, etc. When I received my delivery, THERE WAS SHRIMP. Called & woman on phone was immediately insane. She wouldn't even let me get a word out, much less a sentence. Then she started screaming. She outright denied shrimp being a shellfish, even after I explained to her shrimp has a shell on it. She argued it does not. Then she screamed, YOU DON'T PUT NO SHRIMP, YOU DON'T PUT NO SHRIMP. She refused to issue me a credit, despite the fact I had to throw it away. An $18.25 dish plus added chicken & veggies brought the total cost to $25.07. What a waste! She screamed so much and for so long, I had to hang up on her. Can only imagine what patrons in the restaurant must've been thinking, had there been any. Partner was craving Chinese food and we also needed groceries, so we decided to give Chen's Garden a try after leaving Walmart. The inside is your standard Chinese takeout where you order at the counter, and there is a bit of seating available. Others have mentioned the woman at the counter, so I was prepared. Did I think she was rude? No. Did I think she was extremely hospitable? Also no. She did kind of let us make a combo that wasn't on the menu, so I appreciated that. We ordered the honey chicken and orange chicken combination plates, which came with fried rice and an egg roll. We got our order very quickly but the food was still cooked fresh. So fresh that the bottom of the bag was still burning hot when we got home about 18 minutes later. Neither meal was spectacular, but we both agreed that we would go back. I'm torn on this review. On one hand, the crab sticks were very good (maybe better with a dipping sauce). But, the house fried rice was just bland. The shrimp were overcooked. The rice had no flavor. I have not found a Chinese restaurant that is worth anything in the Columbia area. I saw a review that said the food is great so I reluctantly ordered some food. We finally found a place that is more than acceptable and we have been back twice in a row. We saw people complain about the rudeness and I completely disagree. Culturally the way they talk is on par with the way I understand them to be. And we're not looking to eat with them. They make really good food and we are so happy to find them. Everything we have had is reliable and tasty. We have spicy mixed vegetables and noodles and it's been 3 years since we found a good Chinese restaurant. So happy! read more

Have eaten at Chema many times before. Not amazing but ok. The last two times we've been asked for super spicy hot fried rice for my husband, he likes to sweat when he eats, no spice at all. And how is it possible to make hunan chicken with no flavor at all. This is the 3rd time we have gotten dinner from them and no flavor. This was the first time eating from Chen's and it will be the last time. Food was terrible! Very unusual smell, like vinegar or chemical coming from food. Ordered orange chicken and Gen Tso chicken and couldn't tell a difference between the two and just tasted bland no spice. There are other, better Chinese take out places around. read more

This is definitely my last time eating here. After eating here several times I found out the hard way the woman behind the counter is EXTREMELY rude!!! First and last visit on 10/6/2015. Ordered Lo Mein to go. Boy behind counter took order without speaking one word to me, kinda rude but I'll pass it off to him just being a kid. I have updated my review to three stars out of two. The food has improved lately and we are ordering it more often. I love the lo me in. It's exactly the type of noodle it should be. My daughter loves the General Tso chicken. The vegetables are fresher than we used to get and that's a great thing. I think it's so rude and unprofessional for the workers to be out front eating in front of you while you are picking up or ordering. She was so rude to the people in front of me and gave them a hard time about everything. We do takeout here pretty often as it's right around the corner from us. I love that I can place my order online, it's very convenient. I always end up getting the general tso's shrimp or the garlic shrimp. I could eat their egg rolls all day long - they have the perfect crunch and are not greasy. This is our go-to Chinese food restaurant. Whenever my dad visits from TN, he always wants to order from Chen's! I usually get General Tso's chicken and my husband gets Chicken Lo Mein. My two young daughters love the Lo Mein and that's what they get. The rice is good and the egg rolls are really great. 5/3/18-I have just left the Chen's Garden and yet again I was very disappointed. Not with the food but with the attitude of the lady taking the orders. Not only was she unwelcoming but I've noticed that when Black people walked in they did not receive a hello, thank you or have a nice day as the other customers received. I have witnessed this on several occasions but today it was so blatant.. I would hope that we as a people take our money and spend it elsewhere. Worst service ever. Owner is rude! Don't ever go there... I've been there a few times a liked there food but this time the owner cursed my husband and I out in Chinese because after we got rung up and used a credit card. I then realized I wanted there house mustard. Well it was .40 cents she screamed at us in Chinese demanding to. That we had to pay for the mustard.
