For around $16 per dish, this was very disappointing. The black bean noodles had no noticeable black bean flavor, and I couldn't find any trace of black bean flavor associated with this dish. The sautéed vegetables were very medicore: soggy and drowning in sauce. Both dishes tasted amateurish, like whoever prepared them hadn't really mastered how they're supposed to be cooked. The Duck is really good! The crispy pork is good but a little on the greasy side, but it was good. The garlic Bok Choy was very bland, you can't get it for a side. It was like$12 and came with rice. Not worth it! Not sure why the will not sell a side of white rice or fried rice!!! Your option is a meal of rice/ vegi rice/egg rice and so on for $12. The egg drop soup was very good. Got there close to opening time and we were greeted and served immediately. We ordered the lunch combos of the char siu (bbq pork) and the roasted duck. And I've eaten my fair share of roasted duck! The meat was flavorful, super tender, and the skin...mmmm... so crisp and juicy and kind of melts in your mouth! My go-to place in Charlotte, NC pales in comparison to this establishment! The prices are on the cheaper side compared to the portion and quality of the food -- pleasant surprise there. As far as ambiance, it's not a fancy date-night type of restaurant. It's a simple setup with either dine-in or carry out options. The best places are the "holes in the wall." Okay, good Chinese food is hard to find. And on our second try since we moved to Columbia, we found one. Excellent shrimp and lobster sauce, great lo mein, spare ribs, won ton soup, sesame shrimp, shrimp fried rice, vegetable fried rice, Mongolian beef, all were excellent. As were the spring rolls. The one negative, and it's a small one, is the egg rolls, while delicious, were a bit on the small side. I lived in Scottsdale, and it took me 7 years and over 100 tries to find decent Chinese food (and when we did, it was excellent, but the only good Chinese food in the whole city). Here, less than 2 weeks, and 3 tries. And the first two were okay, just not as good as here. Another great thing is that if you order a dish with shrimp, you can order extra shrimp for a reasonable mark-up. I've actually never seen that before. Capital idea. read more

I've been on a Cantonese roast duck hunt since moving to Columbia, and I'll say the duck here is the best I've tried so far. The duck skin needs a bit more work, but the meat is tender as it should be. A lot of restaurants tend to boil, freeze, and reheat their duck, but that isn't the case here, which is a relief. I also got the roast pork, and that was on point. Crispy skin and tender meat. Service was fast too. I ordered takeout, so I can't comment much on the ambiance. read more

The menu has changed and downsized tremendously! Their attached website menu is now longer current (I was very disappointed). Several "to-go" customers came in and ordered things that are no longer on the menu - moo goo chicken, for example). I ordered 1/2 and 1/2 iced tea. They don't serve unsweetened tea. I ordered the egg drop soup and it was served at room temperature. Then I ordered the tangerine beef (instead of the crispy fried tangerine chicken). When the beef came, it was battered and deep fried before being mixed in the tangerine sauce - very strange. read more

A fantastic experience and much needed here in Irmo... Authentic Cantonese Chinese food finally here including fresh roasted duck and Chinese BBQ. Came on a Friday night and sat down immediately and was treated to traditional Chinese hot tea while perusing the menu. We of course have the roasted duck and also the Shanghainese noodle soup, delicious!!! Such a relaxing good dinner that we will actually be coming back tomorrow night to try other things on the menu. There are many Chinese restaurants around the Columbia area so you would not necessarily drop by this place to have dinner or lunch. We got a tip from some Chinese friends of ours that this was authentic Cantonese style Chinese food so we gave it a shot. All I can say is that it is by far the best Chinese food I've ever had. We had the roast duck and it was mind blowing. Crispy skin, juicy and delicious. We also had about four or five other dishes as well. This place was great. I judge every Chinese restaurant by the quality of their hot and sour soup. Theirs was perfect! I also had broccoli chicken. Everything was made fresh, was delightfully tender and had a light flavorful sauce. The portion size was huge! I had enough for dinner and for lunch today, so it was a great value for the price. The staff is so friendly and helpful and we talked about the Chinese new year. They deliver, and offer pick up as well as dine in.
