I heard about this place through one of my friends that raved about it. He described it as "a hole-in-the-wall with some crackin' food". The place only takes cash so I had to take a quick trip to the atm if I wanted to try out the place. After finally sourcing some cash, I went to the place on a Friday when it was actually pretty busy. They only allowed 5 people in at once so I spent some time waiting outside. After finally being let inside, I was quickly helped by the lady running the register. I opted for the General Tso's chicken with fried rice and an eggroll. The chicken tasted delicious but the vegetables that came with it did not really mix well with the food. The fried rice was delicious and the eggroll was amazing. All in all, I'm glad I got to try out this local business but do feel as they could update their restaurant and systems to accommodate to todays market. read more

We only tried the egg rolls as take out, so this is a somewhat limited review. The regular egg rolls were fresh and crispy. The pork inside was flavorful, but not spicy at all. The vegetables inside were crispy. The wrapper was crispy, cooked perfectly, and not greasy at all. The vegetable egg rolls were just like the regular. I'm ready to try the regular entree items on my next visit. We noticed a sign saying they only offered take out after 4pm due to a parking situation. I tried this place based on previous reviews, but I completely regret it. The portion was large, the food was clearly fresh, but it just didn't taste good. I ordered General Tsao's chicken with white rice, fried wontons, and one of the (apparently famous) eggrolls. My chicken was dry, the wontons were fried so hard that they were tough to bite into, and the eggroll just tasted like over-stewed cabbage and A LOT of pepper. Nothing else. To be fair, if you're into that taste, this would be a great eggroll, because the consistency was nice and it was giant. I wasn't into it. Oh, and the wontons don't come with any sort of dipping sauce, just FYI. Whole meal cost $9 and some change. Ordered a chicken broccoli combo with an eggroll & fountain drink and it came out to nearly $9, which I thought was a bit much, even if the combo was a fairly big portion. The cut of the chicken was also very fatty, which I've never experienced with this dish anywhere else. I did enjoy the eggroll, though, and appreciated the way it was crispy on the outside but not dried out on the inside. Service was speedy, I'll give them that! This is a typical greasy spoon, ugly dirty out dated Chines restaurant... The twist is they have obnoxious people working their and the outdated ambiance is only topped by their refusal to move into the 21st century- won't even accept credit cards!?!? I have eaten there once or twice before, the food is garbage but my kid likes it so we cal to order today/ they refused to answer the phone until the 4th time I called and then I was greeted by an obnoxious prick answering the phone literally yelling at me about how they won't take phone in orders tonight because they are short staffed or something, I had to hang up on him to avoid screaming back. If this is the best they can do, they need to go ahead and close for good, absolutely will never go there again after the treatment I received tonight. read more

The lady and I visited the bookstore around the corner (you should too!!) and when we got out the car I could smell the delicious veggies cooking. We even walked a few blocks in the other direction trying to find it. Thanks to Yelp we pinned down the location and hopped on over. We arrived shortly before 3 and unnoticed they closed from 3-4 for a lunch break and evening prep time. I thought that was odd, but must be a Columbia thing because several other places do that also. This business is located in the old Dairy Queen building from the 80's. It is very dated and needs fresh paint and some TLC, but the food is great and made to order. I can feed my large family for just under $38. We usually get the sesame chicken, dragon's triplet, sweet and sour soup and egg rolls and chicken wings. The wings can sometimes be a little dry from being overcooked, but overall the quality is usually consistent. They will not answer the phone, so don't even try because they are too busy. Cash only - no debit cards. The lady that runs the place has always been gracious to me, but the male cook can be a little abrasive. The business hours can be a little inconsistent, as they are now renting their parking lot at night to Al's Upstairs across the street from them and will close early when this is the case. I have been trying to find a good Chinese restaurant in Cola and have been so very disappointed with my findings... Eggroll station so far is a better one but it is still falling short of my expectations... I don't do egg rolls, have not liked them since I started eating spring rolls way back 30 years ago because they are too doughy... But that is my thing, I hear and have gotten confirmation from my hubby that the egg rolls are awesome. The first time I tried their fried wontons I was floored for they are very very crispy, hard to bite into but the more you eat them the more you start enjoying them. Crazy they don't offer spring rolls at all, which was disappointing. We tried the chicken and broccoli, pepper steak, and general Tsao's chicken and though the meat was fresh the rice is always a bit on the strong tasting, not my favorite and the meat tasted strong too. The service is good, the lady that owns the place is funny and nice but the place itself is a disaster, the parking lot leaves a lot to be desired, the building itself looks like it should be condemned for it is dripping some black tar from a crack in the overhang by the door, look toxic. I am a huge, huge fan of Egg Roll Station, going back to my college days. I'm trying to branch out on the menu lately and tonight I got the Dragon's Triplet which includes shrimp, chicken and pork along with veggies and fried rice. I also picked up an order of Egg Drop Soup and a couple of egg rolls. The portions are plentiful so I can easily make at least two meals out of this and the cost was under $11. It's a great deal for the amount of food you get. Everything was delicious and I'll be making another trip again I know. They also amaze me with the HUGE Christmas cactus collection they have that is always lush and thriving but that's beside the point. I ate at this restaurant before and the food was mediocre. I decided to try it again today but left in disgust due to the terrible attitude of the staff. They were a bit short staffed at the time when. One girl was doing everything from cooking the food to fulfilling previous orders. I was at the head of the line and stood there for 10 minutes while she did this - never even once acknowledging that I even was there. The Egg Rolls are the STAR at this joint. I've email & tweeted Food Network's "Drive-ins, Diners & Dives" and told them if they EVER do a show on "Egg rolls" they gotta come to Columbia. Their food today is 100% better than the last time I ordered off the Menu which was 2yrs ago. The NEW cooks are doing a great job preparing great tasting Food. Now you can taste the Love in their Food. Yeah the joint looks like a Dump on the outside, but the Food, Egg rolls and HUGE portions are worth regular visits. read more

I have eaten at Eggrolll Station a few times and its definitely good. Today was the first time I ever had an eggroll though and I got it because all the reviews gushed about them, but I'm with the reviewer who said they are basically just cabbage, I don't see anything else in it, and I did not get the "veggie eggroll". So, that's how I feel about that. It won't stop me from going though. The reason I don't go a LOT more than I do is because the portions are waaaay too much and while it is generous for what you pay, I would be a lot more likely to go more often if they offered smaller portions. I am not a fan of leftovers and its incredibly wasteful to throw half or sometimes more than half of it away. If you are going with more than one person I HIGHLY recommend you share - I don't know of Anyone who can eat 5lbs of fried rice in one sitting. Oh...and they don't take credit or debit cards, but they do take checks. So be sure to have cash or your checkbook when you go. read more
