They have an expansive menu with lots of options to pick from, and I am surprised by how refreshing and tasty the drinks are. My friend and I were happy on our first visit here. See the description of the tea I got that evening. - White Peach Tea [GET]: My drink was good, refreshing and not too sweet. I got the tea at 25% sugar and less ice, perfect amount of sweetness and not heavy to drink at all. I can taste the peach tea flavor, didn't taste artificial to me. The herbal jelly is sweeter than other Boba chains, definitely on the sweeter side and more of a mushy texture, so it would be better if it got more of a jello texture. Ambiance: 4/5 - It is located in the center of K-Town in NYC, right next to Grace Street desserts. Tea Makers is only a stand with a small store front with no indoor or outdoor seating available, literally only take-out. There's huge menu display everywhere, so you can always take a look at the menu before you order. There's usually a long line and chaotic, because it is in a busy spot. Price: 4/5 - The medium white peach tea is $4.50, and I got herbal jelly as my topping for $0.50 additional cost. I would say the price was quite reasonable for a tea in K-Town compared to other boba chains like Gong Cha and Machi Machi. Service: 4/5 - There's around 4 staffs working in the stand making tea and taking orders. It looks like it is operated by a family. They are all attentive, efficient, and fast at what they were doing. Overall, the ordering process was quite seamless. BLUF: Great and refreshing Boba and tea drinks. If you want to try a new Boba place in K-Town, support local businesses, or get that classic bear container, then visit Tea Makers. Not only do they have the BEST tasting bubble tea, but they also have the cutest bear bottles that I've repurposed to propagate my plants and use as home decor. I love that you can taste the brewed tea and they use real cut fruit unlike the competitors around the area. They have the friendliest staff and fastest service. I enjoy every drink I get from this establishment. Not to say this is my second choice but if their competitor across the street is busy and backed up, I'll gladly wait in Tea Makers line as well. It's a small in the wall spot in between two building but they stand out with their sign and bright lights. I could understand if you overlook it but look again lol. I usually get Lychee or grapefruit sodas. If I'm feeling luxurious I add bubbles or their jelly. Their turnaround time is really quick for a beverage the times I went so even though there's a long line you'll probably be waiting 5 minutes minimum, if that. (This varies depending on the day and staff, etc. like any other establishment.) What I really like the most is that their drink come in cups you can actually re-use if you want. Seeing a large crowd lined up for here when passing by, I knew we had to stop by for a drink after our meal. I love an extensive menu, and Tea Makers had just that. Out of so many options, Pineapple stood out to me the most. The lady by the counter kindly explained Pineapple Fresh was a slush and Pineapple Spring was the tea. We ordered a Large Pineapple Spring Tea with Pineapple Jelly ($7). The drink was so refreshing! The tiny ice pieces are actually at the top, which is cool. 5 stars for the taste of their milk tea! It reminded me of milk tea you can pick up in Hong Kong. I ordered the milk tea with boba, pudding and grass jelly. The pudding tasted different in an odd way and the grass jelly wasn't as dense. I didn't necessarily enjoy the taste or texture of either and would order with just boba next time. I decided to try the cheese foam i saw online, so i got one bubble milk tea with cheese foam. Unfortunately i was not a fan of the cheese foam, it tasted weird and salty. You're probably saying "so why did you give 4 stars??" And it's because the core bubble milk tea itself is very good. The bubbles are fresh and everything there tasted very fresh and very good. WOAH. One of the BEST places to get bubble tea in Ktown! Honestly, I already hit this place up three times and the drinks don't disappoint! I got the White Peach Oolong Tea (without the cheese foam) and it was delicious ($5.25). The tea flavor complimented the peach flavor very well. This will definitely be my go to drink! I also got the Taro Pearl Milk Tea which was also really good ($5.25) . It didn't have that grainy powder taste like other places (cough cough LOL) Lastly, I got the Cheesecake & Pearl Milk Tea which is the star of the show if you like sweet drinks! It's one you should not pass up on because it's so yum! ($5.50) Overall, Macao Imperial Tea is definitely a spot you should check out! You will totally find me there a few times a week... The last time I passed through koreatown I saw a long line out front of this tea shop so I decided to try it when I came back to the area, although this time it didn't really have a line. The menu was pretty extensive so I wasn't sure what to get but decided to try one of their "unique drinks" called Golden Boy which was basically just artificial banana flavoring and milk. They have cute little bottles that come with their cold drinks but I don't think its really worth the price. I got the Sakura soda and Lychee soda. Theyre both not that great (3/5) and the Sakura was overly sweet and doesnt taste (?) floral that I was expecting. The lychee was not bad but also not too great. The shop opens right at the sidewalk with no indoor space for customers, so plan to take your drinks to-go. They have a large selection of drinks from simple to fancy items, and social media worthy bottles, which I've never gotten. I prefer simpler drinks and have gotten a couple of fruit-flavored teas. One drink that I remember in particular is the red guava green tea because I don't see guava on bubble tea places often (if at all). It was yummy and I like that I could taste the tea as well. There can be a line sometimes, but I've usually stop by when there's just a couple of customers ahead of me. The blue ocean soda is kind of tasting like orange soda and the Sakura just tastes like sweet soda water without much actual flavor. Pearls were decent but not amazing. I really wanted to like this place,but I just can't really recommend it. The taro cheesecake milk tea I tried had no cheesecake taste to it at all. I got a Sakura Soda and Lychee Soda and I have to say, they are very refreshing! They were a bit pricey, about $7 per bottle, but I would say it's fair since the bottle is reusable and looks unique. The line was not bad at all considering it is located in such a busy area. Even if the line was long, I think it would move by fairly quickly since they were very fast with my order with 3 people in front of me. The pictures of their cheesecake milk tea look so good but the taste was just average. I got the Uji matcha cheesecake milk tea and wasn't impressed. It was basically just a watered down green tea drink with salty cheese stuck on the side of the cup. You can't really mix the cheese with the drink so you end up having to awkwardly slurp it with your straw after finishing the drink. Caution: the cheese tastes kind of greasy and made me feel nauseous after finishing my drink so definitely opt for another menu item if you're looking for something lighter. This tea was so so good. It's not only beautiful, but I got the taro cheesecake, and the taro flavor tasted so natural and fresh, and the cheese foam was really thick and delicious. I don't like cheesecake, so I was glad it didn't taste like cheese per say, but just that the foam was thicker and creamy. We went here after hearing about it from a couple friends and I was blown away by how good the tea was. I'm from the Bay Area and this rivals some of the boba shops there. The bears are a very cute addition and I saved mine to use as a vase. The rose milk tea was very good, I loved it because the flavor wasn't too overpowering and it was very smooth and light. We also got the cheese too matcha flavor and honestly that was my favorite. The cheese top was a nice thick consistency and was perfectly salty and creamy. The matcha was also a very good flavor and not grainy like I sometimes find. The bears had a little top that you could pop open for the straw which is amazing bc I personally hate stabbing the plastic. They are very nice and answered all of our questions patiently. They have a lot of options including slushies and cheesecakes. The place is just a counter so be prepared to grab ur boba and go somewhere else to drink it. The only thing I would say is that getting the bear might have given us a little bit less tea but I think it's worth it! read more
