TEA DO OR TEA DON'T?!? I lean towards tea don't, but I wholeheartedly acknowledge everyone has their own preferences when it comes to boba hence why this place almost always has a line on Saturday nights. I myself love places where food preparation stations look clean, pristine. I know OCD MUCH?! But glancing and peering at the counters I was not a huge fan of the prep area, coupled with my avg. drink. I get that it gets busy and a little crazy. So if it don't bother you, then it don't bother you. Having been to the Boston Chinatown location and Philly location, I just can't say this place is bobagasmic! Correct me if I'm wrong but I've had the (first love, dragon, and taro milk teas). A decent sampling I'd say. Also- Boba wasn't honey boba! Just standardly boiled. I'm am not sure why Tea Do doesn't have a 5 star rating.... Listen I used to go to Tea do EVERY SINGLE DAY, hadn't in a while and it was like love all over again. From the boba to the Onigiri Tea Do is my favorite boba place in Philly, and that is NOT an exaggeration. The young ladies (and dudes) that work there are some of the sweetest kids ever. I think when I was going consistently most knew what I would order when I walked in the door (yes.... I was THAT addicted.) Tea Do on the weekend is POPPIN.... It's basically a mini club with how many people are in there. No other place in Chinatown has a line out the door that consistently...So that says a lot about the product and the service. New favorite! Tea Talk has always had a place in my heart, but now with Tea Do, there's going to be some competition. The bubble tea I ordered the other day was surprisingly delicious and refreshing. Unlike other places, Tea Do really does a great job in keeping the tea flavor in bubble tea and not having it get lost in sugar and milk. Also, the fact that they sell snacks is a plus. The takoyaki was a nice, inexpensive pairing to my tea. Jenga and other games line the table, so if you're look for a new place to hang out, come check out Tea Do! First of all, I'm not an expert on bubble tea or anything like that, and this was my first time getting one of these drinks, so take that as you will, but I thought it was pretty good! I got the strawberry with popping bubbles and the bubbles were pretty cool and the strawberry tasted really good. I LOVE Tea-Do. I love it to the point where I might actually be obsessed. I crave their beverages on a daily basis and am usually here at least 1-2 times a week, if not more. I often come here with some friends when we need a quick catch up or someone needs a work or study break. My absolute favorite is the hot tarot root milk tea with no bubbles. I usually get it with 50% sugar. It is purple in color and absolutely delicious! It is also great as a smoothie when it is warm out! Another good one is the Mango Green Tea. One of my friends always gets this (cold) and I usually steal a few sips! If I wasn't so obsessed with the Tarot Root, I would absolutely get a full cup of this flavor as well. I am not a bubble tea fan, so I really like how this place allows you to opt out of the bubbles and just have the tea. I also really like how you can request less sugar in certain teas. Another great thing about this place is that they have games at the tables such as Jenga and Uno. It is fun to come with a group or a friend and play games while you wait or eat/drink. They have a fun and casual vibe that makes it a friendly environment so you want to come back. They also serve food! Besides the tea, Tea-Do has some food options that look delicious. Great place for bubble tea when you're craving it! This was my first time at Tea Do because I'm almost a loyal fan to the Vivi's up in New York so when they built the Vivi right across from Tea Do it's probably a lot of competition! Anyways, I wanted to be fair and try this place out, the atmosphere is completely different Vivi is a bubbly, pink cutesy place while Tea Do is a darker cooler semi trendy seeming place. I grabbed myself a Taro Milk tea and it was as good as many places. Nothing special besides that they put A LOT of toppings when asked for. But overall I think both Vivi and Tea Do is about the same when it comes to drinks, though they do seem to have a larger variety in drinks and toppings. (BTW Toppings are an extra .50) In general go to where you like and what you feel like, because you can't lose going to either or. The place isn't as brand spanking new like Vivi but they have enough seating and it's fairly large, but it is more narrow and crowded so watch yourself! read more

Wow. The place is a nice change from the other bubble tea spots in Philadelphia. It's clean and they use syrups, fresh fruits, and giant aloe jellies. I went with the First Love, feel free to judge me, but it was freaking delicious. Red Guava, Passion Fruit, Aloe Jelly? You had me at hello. As lady like as the drink name was, this place was great. I rode in around midnight for a quick stop and ended up getting another to go because I was so impressed with it as I was walking out. The decor is nice and the sound is popping. Its definitely a younger crowd, but a good place to chill and play some jenga. There's always room for jenga. This is a place definitely doing tea right. Correcting my original review, I have learned that Tea Do unfortunately does not use real fruit for most of their smoothies - I do believe though that they use real fruit when it comes to the watermelon and avocado smoothies. If you are looking for real fruit smoothies, I recommend the bakeries/cafes in Chinatown that sell bubble tea using real fruit. Because Chinatown bakeries/cafes do not mass produce bubble tea drinks compared to Tea Do or Kungfu Tea, it allows them the ability to use fresh fruits for their smoothies/drinks. My current two favorite places for fresh fruit smoothies are Bread Top House and Yummy Yummy. With that being said, I have come to enjoy most of Teado's specialty drinks listed which are comparable in price to all the other drinks they offer. My current favorite is the Honey Jazz (half sugar) for a light refreshing summer taste. I also enjoy the Avocado smoothie with bubbles for a smooth but heavier and sweet aftertaste that can fill you up. Continue to appreciate the quick, efficient, and friendly staff and service. This place is really popular with the local teenager crowd and the interior design looks very trendy. As for the drinks, they are pricy compared to others in the area but have pretty tasty bubble tea that is authentic. The snacks look good on the menu although I didn't get any. I got the large Japanese green tea bubble tea for $5 and it was well worth the money, the green tea was milky and smooth, not too sweet which is my style. Coming from the Philippines, I always loved bubble tea. I came across tea do while strolling along Chinatown. I was not disappointed. They have a wide range of flavors and delicate adjustment in sweetness of the drinks. You can order from the basic grean tea, fruits, chocolate, red bean. My personal favorite is taro with extra bubbles. It's a good dessert after a dimsum dinner or some Sze chuan dishes. There is not much tables and chairs inside so you are likely to end up walking outside with your drink. The service is pretty quick and prices are very affordable! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. The staff handled the line smoothly and it moved quickly as we perused the menu looking at all the different options. 5/5 for the almond milk tea alone. Fantastic. There are some cute tables, chairs and couches set up with seating for maybe 20 people with Jenga available to pass the time. They sell tank tops with the Tea Do logo which is nice. The decor is contemporary with black being the theme color and chic furniture. The service was nice and the staff was friendly enough. Make sure you start looking at the menu as soon as you get in line as there are so many options you want to be ready to order as you get to the front of the line. I came here three days in a row cause their smoothie and specialities are that great. The last time i came here i ordered a jasmine milk tea and that was disappointing .. i decided to order a black milk tea (first day) since it has that red circle circling the number, indicating its a 'popular choice' and trust me.. it shouldn't be. My friend ordered a Thai Milk tea and its eh.. Nothing special. tbh I find their 'Milk tea' not that great... theres just something about it thats kinda off.. or maybe its just me. This place is extremely overrated. Not sure why it gets twice the amount of customers compared to all the other good boba tea places in Chinatown. I usually get black milk tea and it's not the best but it's not bad either. But what prompted me to write this review was trying their Thai milk tea and taro milk tea. It was absolutely horrible, enough to make you regret spending $4.5 The sugar content is so high and the "tea" has no tea flavor to it at all. The taro tea just tastes like sweet taro powder mixed in water while the thai tea tastes like plain sugar water. It angers me that places like Mr. Wish, Teassert, Winterfell etc. have teas that are 50x more delicious and authentic, yet this place gets more customers. read more

Pretty much every time I come here I get Thai bubble tea because it's like the only bubble tea shop in all of Chinatown that doesn't use powder for their Thai tea. And their bubbles are fail-proof (jjak jjak) which is chewy, but in a good way. I've never had food here since (surprise!) not a fan of Japanese-type food, which is mostly what they have, but I've heard mixed reviews. Sooo many kinds of bubble teas! Takes forever to finally narrow it down! This is such a bustling place even on weeknight! Helpful tip: the most popular drinks are circled in pink. You can even make your own combo. From milk teas to normal teas to smoothies, you can add any kind of jelly/boba/bubbles, etc. I had a grasshopper with lychee popping boba & green apple jelly. The boba and jelly were slightly in the smaller size- didn't get that satisfactory "pop" with each sip (hence minus one star) Will definitely return more often to try other drink combinations and the snacks they offer. 2.5 Stars After some nice dim sum in Chinatown, I wanted bubble tea and this place had some good reviews. Having been to New York and Los Angeles for bubble tea before, my expectations were pretty low considering those cities have super good drinks. Decor: The restaurant had super nice decor and decorations relative to the rest of Chinatown. It seemed to be a very hipster drink bar type of place for students nearby at Drexel and Penn. There were a lot of students with laptops and books studying and also people going on romantic dates. The entrance is pretty confusing because the ordering counter is off to the side. Food: I got the fire dragon speciality drink after some positive reviews. The drink was milk with red beans and jelly. I wish I had just gotten a classic milk tea or taro tea because the milk was lukewarm and pretty off-putting. Considering the quality of drinks in NYC and LA I was extremely underwhelmed by Philly bubble tea. Service: The workers were nice but the counter was off the the side and somewhat hard to find considering the mass of standing people in random location around the restaurant. The drink came out quickly and correctly. Overall, I was pretty unimpressed with this specialty drink. The drink was not flavorful and not cold. While I'm still a fan of Tea Do, I've noticed lately a decrease in the quality of the drinks. For example, I use to order drinks with no ice and it was never an issue, suddenly every drink I order has some amount of ice no matter what I say. In addition, I've gotten overly sweet drinks (I usually order 30% or no sugar) or drinks missing added items (like aloe). I don't get why people like Tea Do. The Grasshopper is the only drink I get here. Their regular tea drinks are okay. But anything "milk tea" tastes horribly watered down and artificial. Last time I got a Strawberry Milk Tea, and there wasn't even the slightest hint of "tea." It legitimately tasted like pepto bismol. Their taro drinks taste like play-doh. It makes sense that people are first introduced to Bubble Tea here since Tea Do was the OG bubble tea shop in this area, but the problem is people get stuck here and think that this is the way all bubble tea tastes. Crowded at times, but not too congested so you'll have room to maneuver. I haven't tried the food so I can't rate on it. The drinks are consistent. SUPER BUSY! But that means they have the good stuff! After reading some yelp reviews, I wanted to try this place and I'm glad I did! They have LOTS of options and their specialty drinks sound really good, so I'll try that next time. You can choose how sweet you want your beverage and what type of milk (if it has milk). Some of the reviews said that the Black Milk Tea was too sweet so I was going to order with less sugar, but I thought I'd try it without any adjustments first and it was great to me! The boba was soft so you can tell it was fresh. I also ordered the spam onigiri and the curry fish balls. The fish balls were really tasty and came with a mild spicy sauce (pretty sure it was spicy mayo). The onigiri I could do without .. wasn't anything special. I did get a couple of macarons here and they are DELICIOUS! Unique flavors too! This place is small to consider it a lounge .. and there are a lot of young teens that hang out here. This is one of those famous places that people recommend to you when you're in Philly. I enjoyed the bubble tea here. I got mango with mango jelly. It was pretty sweet, so I probably could have asked for reduced sweetness (and would do so next time).
