Jasmine Milk Tea
Anna F.

I went inside this boba place originally to ask for directions. The employees were so nice and it was such a hot day that I had to get boba. Good boba for a local place. I had the jasmine milk tea. It wasn't too sweet and just right. I'm surprised there weren't many people inside just chilling out.

Peach tango with bubbles

I'm just going to say it... I've had better boba drinks for less money and though the store was cute as hell with their little bears it was not my jam. I wanted the bear valentine, there was no strawberry puree so I ended up ordering a peach tango with boba. It was really just a slushy. Tasty... But... Oh well.

Milk tea tasted okay. The boba was nice and chewy. Service was quick. The drink came with a cute bear lid!

Cookies and creme, with boba. Pretty standard!

Cool looking boba shop on the edge of Gayborhood. I came in at 8:30 and the workers were mopping the floor in preparation for a 9 pm closure. I didn't pay attention to see if the mopping worker washed her hands before preparing my drink. I didn't notice not happen, but I didn't notice it either. Just something to pay attention to! I ordered a cookies and cream with boba. Pretty standard. Cute presentation of the drink!

Lovely boba restaurant, I really like the booba flavor and the taro tea was phenomenal, refreshing, great flavor of the boba and the jelly was flavorful and soft. Super lovely decor. Great music & Ambience. Self ordering menu was a little complicated mostly because I don't consume milk so I couldn't find the milk substitute but after a couple of seconds I figured it out by myself. No help was offered or greeting, the customer service interacting was minimal but the tea was fantastic. I will definitely return to try more flavors. Highly recommend!

Finally this place is open. The store is clean and beautifully decorated with flowers on each table. I ordered mango tango with boba. I like the tapioca boba because it didn't have the distinctive smell. I could taste the mango. Very refreshing. Nutella banana honey bread. It took a while to prepare. For my to go order, it was presented in a nice sturdy box with 2 containers of ice cream on the side. The bread was humongous and covered with whipped cream. Underneath the whipped cream, the bread was enrobed with Nutella with slices of banana. It's very rich and delicious.

Friendly service and good place to hangout. wasn't sure how to use the lid when they sealed it

Yuzu Citron Fruit Green Tea with Aloe Jelly and Less Sugar: You should order this if you like citron tea

After several delays, I'm glad to see that this location finally opened! I think that this Center City location is a very prime location, especially because most of the bubble tea spots are concentrated in Chinatown and the other Boba King location is in the West Philly/Drexel University, which is a bit out of the way unless you work or go to school there. Compared to the West Philly location, there is less seating at this location. This feels like more of a grab and go place with limited seating along the window. When I went, I did see a few people doing work there. Let me preface by saying that when I rate bubble tea places, I usually compare them in relation to Kung Fu Tea because Kung Fu Tea's bubble tea isn't the best but it isn't the worst. It's not my go to spot but it's always a safe option when that boba craving hits. And they have a good variety when it comes to milky and fruiter options. For additional context, I usually prefer fruit teas and adjust the sugar level (typically one level below 100% sweetness.). I ordered the Yuzu Citron Fruit Green Tea with Aloe Jelly and Less Sugar. I usually like citron tea, which is a pulpy syrup made from yuzu (similar to a marmalade) and combined with cold or hot water. The addition of the green tea and aloe jelly made it different but a good different. I thought it was the perfect amount of sweetness and the drink was overall very refreshing. As a separate comment, I'm not sure if Boba King does this for all of their drinks but the drink had both a drink seal and a plastic lid on top. I liked the idea because it made the drink more secure before I put in the straw but I did have to remove the lid first and then reattach it once I put the straw in because it was a bit difficult to insert the straw. I didn't realize this at the time I ordered but I'm really happy to see that Boba King offers non dairy alternatives, which you don't usually see at most bubble tea shops. Based on the Yuzu Citron Green Tea and the Mango Tango, which I tried at the West Philly location, I would rank Boba King as being a little better than Kung Fu Tea, more accurately a 3.5. What I like about Boba King is that the drinks aren't overally sweet and there is more of a distinct tea taste. Also, they have some unique offerings and having non-dairy options is always a plus in my book. Some cons are that the flavors are a bit artificial and, while there are several different drink type categories, there aren't that many options per category, with several of the same flavors appearing across the categories. Would I go back? : Most likely! After discovering that they offer non-dairy options, I'm more inclined to try some of their milk tea options. I feel like my impression of Boba King is a bit limited due to how few of times I've tried their drinks so my rating of them may change as I try more drinks now that their Center City location is now open. I also think that their bear theme is very cute.

Honey Caramel Bread and Taro Croissant
Amy P.

Honey bread and croissant were both solid. Cream toppings were not overly sweet, like how most Asian desserts are. Toast was soft and buttery in the middle with a crunchy toasty crust. Good cream to bread ratio. I would prefer a stronger taro flavor from the taro cream in the croissant but that's a personal preference. Definitely open to coming again and trying other flavors. Got a fruit tea and it was a good mix of fruit and tea. I forgot what drink I specifically got though, sorry. I have been to the other location so speaking on Boba King in general, solid drinks with some flavors not common in other boba shops. This location is a lot smaller than the university city one (Ucity is huge so a lot of places are smaller than it, to be fair). Maybe 6 seats along the window, 2 tables and a bench type seat. Workers were really nice. We came in the early days of opening so I guess they were still setting up. There was a banner on the only available seats but they kindly cleared it for us to sit and offered to dust off the area.

Boba King, you make my heart sing. I got hooked on you the second I took a long hard thirsty sip, can I be your plaything? I'm talking about their Strawberry Milk with your choice of milk and freshly made strawberry puree. This drink only comes in LARGE. Ohhhh yeahhh...nothing like holding a good size drink in your hands and being satisfied. After having it Large, how can you expect Ms. Bobalicious to go back to small? It is pricey at $7.45 but when something is worth it, the cost does not matter. Boba King has got Ms. Bobalicious wanting to try the other yummlicious flavors. I'll be coming back for you. Maybe I can be your Boba Queen and together we can conquer the Boba World. Don't forget to snap a pic at the floral selfie wall. Service was super friendly & helpful.

Fast service easy to order and good! Had the fruit tea with boba. Large sets you back $8. Worth it. They habe some pastries and desserts too but didn't try. Lots of tea options and the boba is an additional charge but it won't break the bank. Easy to find. Order at the kiosk or at the register!

Mango Tango
Jeffrey M.

After a long day of walking and touring the city, we stopped here for nice and cool refreshments. I opted for the Mango Tango and added boba, and it absolutely hit the spot for me. Mango Tango is a special drink inspired by cocktails. It is a mix of mango and grapefruit that is pleasing to the mouth. Mango tango is very refreshing, and the natural sweetness of mango and the bittersweet taste of grapefruit is a perfect match! This was my first time trying the Mango Tango, and I will recommend the drink. It was simply fantastic! Super fast service, friendly service behind the counter, great ambiance, and highly recommend Boba King!

Beautiful decor inside, but the drinks aren't very good sadly. The jasmine milk tea was super light and you'd assume that with 25% sugar, you would taste more of the tea but you don't. When entering, the employee saw me, but she did not greet or acknowledge me.

Good bubble tea, pretty quick service. There are seats to hang out, but we usually just take it to go.

The drink was refreshing and fruity with a natural tartness from the dragon fruit. Not overly sweet even though I forgot to ask for less sugar. Their 100 percent sugar tastes more like 75 percent, which I actually liked since I usually go for 50. The boba had a nice chew and was not overly sweet either. The banh mi was really solid. Crispy toasted bread on the outside, soft inside, with a good balance of savory meat, pickled veggies, and fresh herbs. Bright, tangy, and satisfying without feeling heavy. Went around 1:30 so technically past lunch, but it was still busy. There was a bit of a line and people kept crowding or cutting, but the staff were working fast and getting orders out efficiently. They also have a small front area with grab and go items like bottled drinks, spring rolls, and other snacks. There is even a heated case with fried items by the register. Did not try those this time but definitely will next visit. Seating is limited, more of a quick stop spot, but perfect for a casual bite. Overall really good.
