Tropical- Acai Bowl TPD

I alternate between here and SoBol, but honestly I prefer here (Playa) so much more. The menu is longer with more options to mix and match and I like their default options more. SoBol has a better granola mix (granola, nuts, pumpkin seeds), but Playa has more fruit options. Playa also pours less honey than SoBol does which is always a plus for me because it's easier to ask for extra honey rather than remove it once it's poured. I usually stick with the Tropical bowl; occasionally you can tell they removed the pineapple recently from the freezer, but it's appreciated on hot days. Worth stopping by to try different combinations. Service is always fast and it's never crowded.

If you haven't tried it yet, definitely go get one. I love these bowls, and I appreciate the consistency with ingredients and taste across locations. I got the Nutaya flavor Pitaya Bowl this time. Fresh, creamy, crunchy, full of flavor. And it's filling. Great alternative to fried or greasy food, or anything heavy that leaves you sluggish, particularly at lunchtime.

My favorite beach spot close to home!

Super fast service, and I love the extensive menu. I really appreciate all the options, as well as the mango based summer menu. I got great customer service- and like I said, I got my order quickly. Some of my favorite recent rap songs were on the speaker, which made my short wait more enjoyable. I like the lay out of the store, and appreciate the fact that you cannot sit and eat- just like the spot at Belmar beach. I will be frequenting this place often, just like all my other local faves.

Playa bowls is my go to takeout place for smoothies and açaí bowls. Although they are on the pricey side, I enjoy treating myself every once and a while. It's a great healthy, guilt free meal that tastes delicious! I find them really filling too--not quite two meals worth, but definitely more than one meal. Great for after a workout too! They're all really refreshing. Each bowl or smoothie is made custom to order, and the staff can help you pick and choose what you want, because the options are a little overwhelming, especially if you, like me, aren't up to date with all the trendy ingredients and such. It's usually not very busy in here, easy to be in and out in 5 min. They have a few tables, but I like to go and eat in the nearby park after getting my food. Great for a refreshing meal on a hot summer day!

Fast and friendly service. Lots of different bases for bowls: dragon fruit, coconut, acai. Also smoothies, juices and coffees. Truly a taste of summer and good vibes on a cloudy day.

Playa bowl is delicious and I order almost everyday. My only complaint is, I wish they would cut their fruit into smaller pieces.

Love playa bowl. Just wish they would cut their strawberries into smaller pieces. Its very over powering

Coco Craze- Coconut Bowl TPD

I discovered Playa Bowls on a trip to the shore at Manasquan, NJ and I was immediately hooked. I am personally a huge fan of coconut so finding a bowl place that doesn't only offer açaí is great. I love that you can customize any standard bowl or create your own. I love the coco craze bowl but I prefer it without the pineapple so I will order it without OR I can order a coco bowl and add mango. The possibilities are endless and the fruit is always pretty fresh in my opinion. I've probably had it at least 5 times since coming back from the shore in July!

First time at Playa Bowls! This is a great place to grab something refreshing on a hot day. The people working there are kind and service is fast. The inside is very cute and tropical and has outlets available if you're looking for a different study spot. The Orange power smoothie was everything I needed, something light, cold, and even protein packed! The price is somewhat expensive but reasonable given the fresh ingredients in the smoothies/bowls.

I tried this place out while visiting my brother in Philly. The interior of this place was very colorful and welcoming, though a bit cramped. We took our bowls to go as there is limited seating. I ordered a Lola bowl and added "Bee pollen" which I had never tried before or even seen this as an option to add to my bowl anywhere before. The Bee pollen was pretty interesting, the texture was kinda crunchy and the flavor pops into your mouth. Basics it tastes like honey just in crunchy form which I actually enjoyed. They also gave us these adorable stickers which I have yet to find a place for. Overall, I recommend trying out this unique topping of bee pollen at this place!

GET THE DOOR FIXED and it would be a 5 Bowls are great --expensive but delicious and generously portioned . Employees are nice . Did I mention get the flippin door fixed so it closes and doesn't get stuck open and let all the cold air in every time a customer comes in and doesn't close it --

Pura Vida- Acai Bowl TPD and Dragonberry- Pitaya Bowl TPD

Quick stop here instead of getting lunch and we weren't disappointed. They have plant options to choose from. Service was quick. There is seating indoor. We got the Pura Vida- Acai Bowl the Dragonberry- Pitaya Bowl. It was very refreshing and delicious. We got the Goji- Pitaya Bowl to go and that was lovely too. Do stop by if in the vicinity to enjoy some refreshing açaí bowls.

I've tried the orange power smoothie and the green smoothie, both of which were flavorful and had a good consistency.

The poke itself was very fine. Not a lot of options in either the fish department or the toppings department. And there are up charges for a lot of ingredients I feel are typically standard, like seaweed salad. I also got a creme brûlée drink which was definitely not worth the money. It feels mom and pop which I appreciate and do feel like with some small additions to their poke options this could be a nice spot if you're in the area.

The…read morefolks who run the place are super nice and attentive, definitely family-run, and because of that I am going to do what I can to support this local business because we don't need another chain joint in our area. And good on them for taking a risk on Bala village where few retail businesses have been willing to invest. Similar vibe inside to when it was Trails End but they have opened up all of the internal space for dining so plenty of options to sit inside on a cold day. Lots of take-out snacks and drinks are available for trail users, including a nice selection of iced cream bars, coffee, bars, etc. On to the food. I absolutely love ramen, so honestly, I'm happy to have someplace in our neighborhood where I can get a decent bowl. Overall everything was good. Solid bowl of homemade ramen. Not at the level of places like Hiro or Terakawa, but not at all flat and the noodles were well cooked. I got it with shrimp tempura which came with 2 small but super crunchy shrimp that went well with the soup. Also, I got an order of takoyaki which actually was surprisingly yummy. Good texture and flavor came on a nice little bed of lettuce. Again, not the best takoyaki ever, but still pretty yummy. Was happy with the milk tea I got, tasted home-brewed and they got my sugar level just right. The tapioca was just ok. My spouse got a creme brulé bubble tea which was similar to mine but with a custardyness to it that I was jealous of. For a small shop run by 2 people that sells a lot of different things in a super odd location in Bala, this place surprised me with how good it was. I'm giving it 5 stars because they are new and are still building the business and getting the kinks out. I really do think this place can become awesome if people keep going and give them feedback to allow them to make it even better. I wonder if having so many options (poke, ramen, etc) is hurting them as people are used to either going to a poke place or a ramen place. Is it possible to do both types of food really well, maybe. But honestly, I think if they chose one and really nailed it, this place would take off. My vote is for ramen, but that's just because I'm not big on poke and there are already a number of sushi spots in our area. Overall, if you live in the area, and have a craving for some poke, ramen, or bubble tea. Please, support them, and help them get even better! I'm rooting for Platform Z!

However, the food left a lot to be desired. I got the Maui bowl with salmon and tuna. As I watched the older gentleman assemble the food I noticed that the size of the fish was tiny, like very tiny cubes and I've never encountered that at any other poke establishments. I thought maybe he was going to do two scoops of each fish to make up for the size but I was wrong. He did one small scoop of the tuna and then the salmon, but I saw that the scoop wasn't fully emptied before he put it back, so I got half of a scoop basically. Then they proceeded to drown the bowl in a spicy mayo sauce. I honestly can't even tell you if the food tasted fresh or what the marinate in the marinated tuna tasted like and nor can I tell you the texture of the fish because the cubes are that small, and on top of that, you can't taste anything through the thick sauce. For $16 something dollars it is almost criminal for a small lettuce bowl with a few scrap pieces of fish. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place.
