Cute little Bubble Tea shop in Chinatown. I went on a Friday night so it was a little crowded. The menu is a expansive but a little hard to read. It can be a little overwhelming because there was a lot of people and a lot of choices. It would help if they had physical menus to look at instead of the digital board. We ordered and within 3 minutes our tea was ready. My husband and I opted for popping boba. I went with the pineapple bobbing boba. I thought it was perfectly sweet but I think I should have customized it to be a little less sweet. I would definitely recommend this place but i think there are less stressful/confusing tea shops in Chinatown. read more

I visited Philadelphia for a day trip and stopped in Chinatown for some bubble tea. The menu has a wide variety of options, and I went with the blueberry green tea. If I'm around Chinatown, I would usually drop by and get a cup of black milk tea. I thought the regular one is too sweet, so I usually get it with half sugar. During the summer, I would get the cold black milk tea with bubbles or pudding. During winter, I would get hot black milk tea with bubbles. Bubbles get pretty soft in the warm drink, and I'd get a spoon to eat those soft and chewy bubbles. Their bubbles are usually pretty chewy and slightly sweet. Not all bubble tea shops can make their bubbles as delicious. I would know because I used to work in a bubble tea shop in college! My friends have tried several of their other tea flavors and they usually like it. Unfortunately, I never tried other flavors because, well, I love my black milk tea with half sugar!! I wouldn't expect any service from this place. It can also get very crowded at times because it seems to be a hangout spot for high school and college kids. mmmmmmmm i love coming here for bubble tea whenever i'm in philly! Flavors i've tried and liked: taro (not too sweet, which i like), thai iced tea, regular milk tea, grasshopper, firedragon grasshopper was good but i think it would depend on my mood. it was not milky type but more fruity tea type. firedragon will fill you up! it has lots of things inside and tastes good. price is about average for philly/nyc bubble tea. maybe i'll try the foods next time i come. recommended! read more

YUM YUM YUMMMM!!! My favorite bubble tea place of all time (and I'm a huge boba fanatic, so that's saying something). Here are some of my favorite things... 1) Every drink on the menu is good. You can't really go wrong with anything that you get. The specialty drinks are so unique and all so delicious too. 2) They serve small food dishes as well... Including Takoyaki and Onigiri - my faves! And probably one of the only places you can find Takoyaki in Philly Chinatown. 3) They have such a wide assortment of toppings that even boba-lovers will venture out and try a new topping for their drink. I love the MANGO STAR JELLIES!!!!! A must try! 4) Free wifi and Jenga! Keeps the customers happy and entertained :) 5) You can pay with LevelUp. 6) Open late nights! 7) Clean bathrooms! I had a Jasmine Green Milk Tea with boba, and the tea had good flavor and so did the boba, but it was on the softer side.

I am on the fence between two or three stars. They seem to have a lot of cool stuff, but there are some concerns. The only drinks they make themselves is the smoothies (I asked). So I was about to get the red guava with strawberry popping bubbles because for reason I assumed they were blending guava fruit, but it's just manufactured juice with popping bubbles. Therefore, the three of us got smoothies - which was annoying in its own way. I got the papaya smoothie with lychee jelly. The smoothie itself was good, but the lychee jelly was way too much. I think it would be better if they mixed it a little better. What they did was put a dollop of jelly int the cup, and pour the smoothie (which is very thick and viscous) on top. So what ends up happening is you sip, the lychee is so overpowering it takes away from the papaya. But once I had enough, I was able to stir it up a bit and it was better. Perhaps using lychee-flavored bubbles would have been better instead of just jelly. My b/f got the coconut smoothie with coconut jelly. The coconut smoothie itself was very week. It just tasted like coconut water blended with ice. I'm not saying that's what they did, I'm only illustrating the (lack of) intensity of the flavor. To make his matters worse, the jelly was pineapple, not coconut. As with my situation, the pineapple was also overpowering so all you were able to taste from his was pineapple syrup with a tinge of coconut. Our friend got the green apple smoothie with lychee jelly. Like my case, the smoothie itself was a solid green apple flavor, but again, the lychee jelly took away from it. In terms of the drinks we had, I am not that thrilled and I don't think I would go back. The only thing I liked about this place was the popping bubbles - which they don't use in the smoothies, which is what I would be ordering in the first place. I really don't feel the need to pay $4 for canned guava juice with some popping jellies. Would I go back? Perhaps... I may just get a smoothie and ask for popping bubbles in place of the jellies, depending if the surcharge would burn a hole in my bank account. read more

I tried Tea Do for the first time almost two years ago, and I thought it was better back then... Pretty disappointed. My friend moved to Philadelphia and we wanted boba in Chinatown. She recommended Kung Fu but they recently opened up one in Northern VA where I'm from, so I chose Tea Do since I don't have it back home. The girl at the front wasn't very happy or friendly, so that was a bummer. The drink I got was the green tea milk tea, in medium which was $3, and my bf got the "Vietnamese Iced coffee" with boba. My drink seemed very powdery, which was evident in the strange aftertaste. It left my mouth feeling dry for some reason. Not very pleasant. My bf's drink was sort of offensive since I am Vietnamese, and it DEFINITELY was not how we make iced coffee. It was very bitter, and parts of it still lukewarm... Pretty much tasted like watered-down coffee that someone made at home in a hurry in the morning. Bleh. (-) drinks weren't great (+) prices cheap, but not worth it read more

I gave this place a try after having not been here for almost a year. I have mainly been going to Kungfu Tea ever since it opened. However, Kungfu tea does not have the extensive selection so I decided come here after a while to see if anything has changed. What a big mistake! It seems like nothing has changed since my last review. The wait time to place and receive my order was long because despite there being 20 people in the establishment, only 2 people were manning the counter. I even saw the girl making the drinks mess up an order and had to remake the drink for someone else. And worst of all, I FOUND METAL IN MY DRINK!! It looked like a piece fallen off of those stainless steel scrubbers used to clean pots and pans. I promptly got a refund. They didn't even offer to comp the drink for such a mistake like that. It could have cut my throat open. Needless to say, I am not coming back to this establishment EVER again. Tea Do really needs to stop hiring careless teenagers. There are other bubble tea places in town that have much better quality and less wait time: Kungfu tea, Tea Chat, and Rising Tide. read more

Stumbled into this place without even yelping (gasp!) merely because I was wandering around in Chinatown, subconsciously looking for a place worth checking out since it was my first time there. The sign caught my attention and there was a long line as I peeked in, so I made a mental note to self to come back later. A few cultural shock points (compared to NYC bubble tea shops): - I ordered in Mandarin and was met with a confused slash apologetic look, so I made an awkward switch to English - awkward because I've never had to order bubble tea in English, not because I'm not fluent. So yeah, it was my first time ever ordering bubble tea in English lol. Not a bad thing at all, just different. - Prices were relatively cheap across the board. $3 for a medium is a pretty good deal to me as I'm used to paying at least a buck more. - They accept credit card!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also liked the layout - it's got sort of an industrial decor with its hardwood flooring, but also a laid-back lounge feel with the high tables and, check this out - JENGA. I was there by myself (touring Philly alone) but the thought of playing Jenga while sipping on a passion fruit bubble tea sounds so quirky and fun. Like an avant-garde way of bubble tea tasting. Also offers a variety of snacks, including onigiri rice balls(?!!). This place overall offers a refreshing, creative and fun ambience as well as decent drinks. New tea/boba/coffee shop in chinatown! definitely cleaner with a much better ambiance than the rest around the area, but the taste of the drinks does not match the visuals of the place. I got the green milk tea, which literally tasted like water and powder. The iced-tea drinks and fruit blended drinks are decent, though you can still taste the powder in the blended drinks as well. not a good place if you want to sit and do work because seating is uncomfortable - high booths with short chairs. This place seem to be the hot spot for BB Tea because as we were walking do Race St. in the afternoon it seem many of the young adults are carrying BB Tea with the Tea Do logo. This must be a good place we said. So we headed to Tea Do at the corner of N10th St. and Cherry St. The place is large with many seating options. There were junga, playing cards and other types of table games too. We got lucky and sat on a comfortable coach to relax our tired feet. The tea and food options are extensive. My friend had a clear mindset of ordering classic bubble (boba?) tea so his order was easy. However I'm not a big bubble aka boba fan, so I was struggling to figure out what my order would be. The teas with aloe took my attention. I eventually decided on the Honey Jasmine tea with aloe. The place was packed however they were churning out drinks at a relatively fast rate. Major Kudos. When tasting my drink, I could definitely taste the green jasmine tea, but I could also taste the 5 pounds of sugar they put in as well. My buddy wasn't too fond of his bubble/boba tea as well. He said it was too sweet as well. I couldn't finish but half of my large drink and my buddy finished half of his before throwing it out. I've had a problem with consistency here: sometimes the drink is too sweet, and sometimes it's not sweet enough. The other day, the bubbles were overdone and tasteless. What makes tea do amazing is that the tea comes perfectly paired with a great ambience! Whenever you enter Tea Do, its filled with high energy from the guests to the workers! The staff is always kind and get the drinks out v fast! Big fan of the black teas especially mango and passionfruit with mango jelly! Also love the almond milk tea! Honestly don't think they can get any flavor wrong but i just love these flavors! They also have mini snacks so if you're hungry, they have a solution to that too! So when I went to Philly on a road trip and spotted Tea-Do while walking around Chinatown, I had to go in and try it out. Walking in, I noticed board games lying around which immediately made me start to like it. I think it's so great to have games lying around for people to play. Makes it so much more homey and cozy. We love love love this place. Boyfriend and I lived in Philly for two months and we were at teado every other day (literally, not exaggerating). We spent upwards to 600 dollars in two months on just boba tea... call that extremely excessive or this place is just delish. We usually get the same things although we have ventured to different ones only to return to the original ones. ABSOLUTE FAVORITE IS... dum dum dum... I believe this was the first of the tea places in that area, so I've gotta go to the original one right? Every time I come here, this place is PACKED... like super packed. The line is long, but moves quickly because the staff is making teas like crazy. Most of the time, you should expect a wait. You can make your tea however you want [boba, jelly, sugar..] so it makes for alot of variety. They tend to fill half the cup with boba.. so with ice, that makes for very little tea. So ask for light boba [unless you love that stuff]. Black Milk tea My go-to tea, classic, but get it with less sugar. Jasmine Milk Tea One of the best Jasmine teas I've had. Taro Milk Tea Its normally super sweet, so I get it with less sugar. It almost tastes like Captain Crunch/Cookies n Cream. Weird (I know) but cool at the same time. MILK TEA REVIEW ONLY: FOUR STARS I think I might have found my substitute for Zhong Gang after hours. Mong Kok's and Tea Talk used to be bearable, but lately it has been too creamy and left me with a bad aftertaste. I've had the milk tea hot and cold here already, and both times were great because they were refreshing and smooth. However, the milk tea here is $2-$3 each and is definitely more expensive than Zhong Gang's, but you gotta do what you gotta do when you can't get your Zhong Gang fix, you know? Definitely my favorite tea spot in China Town! Pros: Big list of options from smoothies to milk bubble tea to lots of special drinks that they have. Food is also surprisingly good. Guy at the counter was super helpful and nice to us since the person I was with was wondering which drinks didn't have caffeine. I've been going to this tea do since I was 14 probably? (I'm 21 now) and it's still my favorite place to go. They have a wide selection of different fruit and milk teas to cater to everyones needs. Watch out for their seasonal drinks too! The only thing I will say, is that their drinks are more on the sweet side, so if that's not your cup of tea (haha get it??) then I would try playing around with the sugar levels. Usually I love tea do, it's my go-to but they really slipped lately. My sesame hot milk tea was just filled with sesame fragments. Everytime I drank with the straw, I had to chew all the tiny bits of sesame that came up with the tea and bubbles. And I know this is not how that is supposed to look. And the fire dragon was so watered down, you could barely taste any flavor. So disappointed. read more

I was really intrigued by the popping bubbles and decided to try the Lychee variety with popping bubbles. I could definitely taste the tea, and though the lychee flavor was quite a bit more syrupy than fruity, the drink was quite refreshing at first. However, the more I drank of it, the more artificial the bubbles tasted. They are basically drops of syrup (or syrupy chemicals?) enclosed by some kind of smooth skin that pops when you bite into it. Next time, I'll just stick to regular bubbles. They have some interesting flavors under their "Specialties" section that I'd love to try. I also had a serving of takoyaki, which was just OK. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place if your body can't tolerate too much artificial intake, but if you are looking for a refreshing drink and want to try some interesting flavors, this is the perfect place! read more
