I topped off my meal with a coffee. To be brutally honest, it's definitely best served cold. I ordered a hot coffee and their supplier could have done a better job of roasting the beans- the coffee tasted burnt. Overall, I think this place is worth a visit. He spent some time in New York, that's why he named this restaurant New York Cafe. They just recently expanded into 2 units and added Seaport Bar n Grill. This place is not like any steak house in New Territories. It's own by a humble man who cares about his customers and gives you the food quality without charging you a fortune. That's really rare in Hong Kong. Furthermore, you really don't get a lot of good western food in New Territories, even harder in Yuen Long. Both steak and seafood here are imported. Amazing Australian Prime Rib, Boston Lobster, and huge Mussels. For dinner sets, 8 oz Beef Tenderloin, Cajun Chicken Pizza, Fish & Chips are just mouth watering good. You just can't get this kind of food quality from local chain like King of Steaks. They also have a great wine selection. The owner Randy is a big wine drinker and cigar smoker. You would see him hanging out with a few friends smoking cigar here around 9pm every night. The wine priced fairly and I am sure the owner hand picked them individually. This is a 5 star restaurant for the quality of food, service, and particular for this location (Yuen Long). You can of course find better steak and seafood restaurant in TST and Central that charge you $1000+ a person. For $150-300 a person, the food and service is way beyond its value. Whilst browsing that menu, I found myself yearning for the good / cheap Tex-Mex restaurants that are popular across the United States. It's the food that most American's think of when they think of Mexican (even though it's not even close to the real thing). At Mamacita's (TX), tacos come three to an order and are served with refried beans and rice and costs $9.99 USD (roughly 77 HKD) At Mamasita's (HK), a single beef cheek taco costs $68 HKD. It's piteously small and outrageously expensive for such a dear portion of food. But then again this is the restaurant that charges $78 for chips and salsa whereas most restaurants would provide this free of charge. Beyond the taco, the food is uninspiring and at times, flat out terrible. Mushroom quesadillas ($108), while mushy and bland, were inoffensive and unmemorably ho-hum. The same went for a medley of corn, bell pepper and zucchini which is listed as a side ($38), served from a kitchen that is obviously apathetic at veg cookery. However the food went from uninspiring to flat out terrible with the Birria ($238), which is typically a rich dish of lovingly braised goat in a fiery and complex mole-like gravy. At Mamasita's (HK), 5 graying tough-as-bullets hunks of lamb sit in a thin soup redolent of Campbell's tomato soup. In fact I could probably do just as well to buy some discounted lamb meat and boil it up with a can of Campbell's and call it at a day for less than 25 HKD. The service is clumsy and the food comes out in a puzzling progression... the veg side comes out first (probably because it's sat wilting in a warming bin), then a taco, then the birria, then another taco, and finally the quesadilla (perhaps because its the only thing cooked to order?). A single star has been added because the hot sauce is one of the best restaurant hot sauces I have tasted in Hong Kong. In concept, execution, and value, Mamacita's fails in every way. I would take a cheap Tex-Mex chain over this shite any day of the week.

Anyway, the food was not as expensive as I was expecting it to be for being at probably THE tourist spot in Hong Kong. And, the food was also pretty good. Their burgers are really one of the best in Hong Kong and while is on the pricier side, is most definitely worth it. The ingredients making up the burger are especially fresh, from the beef patty, to the lettuce and onions. The cheese sauce on the fries was well seasoned (it wasn't just melted cheese) and the Apple pie iced tea was surprisingly refreshing and definitely suitable for the autumn season. The price of a standard burger on average will set you at least HK$100 alone, add some fries to share and a drink, and you're looking at a HK$200 meal easily. Not quite what some people might have in mind for "fast food". But a treat once in a while is well deserved. I can't wait to try the chili fries next time!

There is more contact with the grill which leads to more browning and deliciousness. The Apple pie ice tea here is really great. They add an Apple slice that is browned w/ cinnamon. It really does give the tea an apple pie tint and is also not too sweet. If you are looking for a good burger I would come here. The food doesn't win here, but it is one of the only places in Hong Kong that showcases excellent Spanish live music. Seedier than its LKF location, it is perched above ground with an open patio to people watch while sipping a drink. When it comes to the food, my inner Mexican self is not terribly impressed with the greasy execution and inflated pricetag. Much of the food is either over salted or over cheesed. The menu is comprised of mainly quesadillas, nachos, ensaladas, enchiladas, antojito appetizers, burritos, tacos and fajitas. There are also some classic items like cochinita pibil ($158HKD), chilaquiles de res ($118HKD). And there's even a few options for molcajetes (think Mexican bibimbap wtih stone bowls), which range from $150-220HKD. My sad enchiladas rojas ($164HKD) was drowned in sauce and caked in ranchero cheese. There wasn't much meat inside the tortillas, and even the accompanying rice and beans were skimpy portion wise. Even the tacos ($138-168 for 4) were teeny tiny, but loaded with salsa and fixins. At about $4-5 USD each, I was more disappointed at how bland my pork and chicken tacos were. Even the ground chorizo quesadilla ($128) was a blanket of wet cheese and grease. The bar is prominent and loaded with various tequilas and mezcals. Shots anyone? (The answer is always "Si.") The selection is pretty impressive, with slightly more obscure brands like El Tesoro ($98HKD) and Correlejo ($98HKD). All shots range from $68-428HKD, which is no joke price wise. Drastically cheaper are their other spirits in the house, which get even cheaper during their happy hour. One of their major highlights is Chris Polanco, their main squeeze for the live music. They have good margaritas and the decor takes you back home even if it's just for a couple hours.
