As good as it gets" My relatives brought me here for dinner when I visited Hong Kong from the US (haven't been back since 1997). This place is in a fishing village/area, we took the subway and got off at the Yau Tong station, after asking around we got to the seafood area...it was a lot of walking to get to this specific restaurant. This restaurant is at the END of all the other ones along the shore. As you twist and turn to get here, you will pass by a bunch of stores that sell fresh seafood and many will hassle you into eating at their adjacent restaurants. One thing I noticed about ALL the stores is that nothing smelled "fishy"! There was not a stench in the air! I've always heard that fresh seafood does not smell fishy. This is the first time I understood what they were talking about. When we finally got to the restaurant, my family decided on the dishes they wanted, I'm not sure if it was because they knew the owner or if this was something you can ask for because we were walked back out to their tanks to pick out the fish, lobster, clams, etc that we wanted. It was a totally awesome experience. The food was nothing short of AMAZING! I have never had seafood this great in my entire 35 years of life and I live 10 minutes from the ocean in California. Everything was cooked perfectly and dishes were not overly seasoned so the flavor of the seafood really comes out. The "peeing" shirmp was soooooooo good, it was better than any Maine lobster I've had. Yes I just compared a shrimp to a lobster, it was that good! If there's anything I would recommend, it would be that and the jack knife clams. Price is a little on the high end especially given the cheap food prices in Hong Kong, but I can't wait to visit again.

My good friends would know I like anything kind of live seafood, just pick whatever.... Poached shrimps - Caridean shrimps size are pretty small but it tasted so fresh and sweet. Stir fried razor clams with black bean sauce - **my favourite dish** It cooked perfectly and so delicious. Steamed scallops with garlic and cellophane noodles - Scallop so fresh and mixed with garlic so tasty. Stir fried Jumbo mantis shrimp with garlic and chili - Mantis shrimp just a bit overcooked coz was a little bit chewy. But, I liked the smell with garlic and chili. Steamed Grouper - I loved steamed fresh fish, it cooked perfectly and fantastic. Steamed fresh Abalones - It is finest seafood! Abalone texture was firmed and clean aftertaste tasted. Thumbs up!! Chinese Mitten crabs - The season just started and we're in right timing to have mitten crabs. It's not meaty like Dungeness crab. It's custardy in texture and like sea urchin.. I also felt guilty to eat whole mitten crab coz it's quite high cholesterol. Gai Lan - it's great coz we should have more veggies (rich in fiber) and help for digestion. Fruits platter - The mango was so tasty and juicy and grapes were sweet too. I don't mind to come back next time for such good quality of dishes.

I post a picture of its lobby as I would never be able to spot it without Google map. As we took the elevator up to the second floor, we could hear all the chatters before the door is opened. We were shocked once the door is opened. This place is vibing!! We didn't make a reservation at all. We got there around 8pm on a Thursday night. We were seated immediately. All the staff are super friendly and funny. We ordered a bunch of food and a few bottles of beers. What a fun night with great food! We will certainly come back when we are back to Hong Kong.

Super silky and smooth, without a chewy skin. The salted egg yolk shrimps are coated evenly and the shells are edible! The mantis prawns are very juicy and fresh. I also loved the clams soup and the pork chops! Must haves: salted egg yolk shrimps, deep fried tofu, and mantis prawns. Prices are also very fair. Probably even cheaper than many other places that aren't as good! I saw a few michelin signs on the walls, but I'm not sure if it's referring to them or the alcohol they're promoting. Also known as "Hing Gung" (慶功), it literally means to celebrate and to reward the hard work the crew put into the show. Much like sik siu, since the eaters are of high exertion, the food would most naturally be as trashy as can be~ Healthy eaters might want to hit the return button now as the foods may be despicably fattening. Deep fried is almost the golden rule for every trashy food, even in Hong Kong; the famous shrimp toast is actually minced shrimp smeared on a piece of bread and deep fried to crunchy perfection; and you got it, the piece of bread is soaked with grease. To make it even more damaging, mayonnaise is served on the side for you to dip the toast in. Damaging as it seems, but it is also very gratifying and is often the dish that is cleared the soonest. Hing Gung is often an event of the nights and there aren't a lot of joint cater to this batch of customers at this time of the day. I still remember walking into this shop with the waiter asking us to wait outside the shop at 11 in the evening, while they were trying hard to rearrange the tables to sit the 15 of us down. For a restaurant that is still crowded towards midnight, you know they must have done something right.

One of our friends had a soup of the day which was butter squash. It came with a piece of tomato-rubbed toast, Spanish style. He liked it. We also ordered a Caesar salad for two which was large enough for the four of us to sample. A solid salad but lacked a bit of dressing. When we mentioned it to the waiter, he brought out more dressing on the side. For our mains, my GF and one of our friends ordered ordered the Iberico pork chops grilled and served with roasted potatoes and half a head of roasted garlic. The two chops were juicy and tender with a hint of sweetness from the balsamic glaze. The chops were part of the daily special which I also ordered off. I had a pasta with prawns and scallops. The pasta was tasty with three large prawns. My only quibble would be that I wish there were more scallops as I only got two.
