I had a half slab of pork ribs and these were by far the best tasting ribs I have had in a very long time. They were cooked just how I like them. Smoked to perfection. OMG! What great BBQ. I ride the Silver Comet Trail every day (almost) and have always got up to mile 5 to smell the sweet smoker cooking away. I've been training hard core for the past 2 years so I never let myself stop - let alone eat any BBQ. But that all changed yesterday. I walked 5.5 miles from my house for one reason. Good lawd this is the best bbq in Atlanta. I work right around the corner from Heirloom and Fox Brothers so I eat Yelp's top-rated Atlanta bbq all the time. TDT IS WAY BETTER than those guys. The flavors and seasonings they use are above and beyond. I'm about to break down the food we've had from TDT before, but they have my complete trust that EVERYTHING is good. If you see something on the menu that you think you'd like, you will. Their bbq sauce is a perfect combo of sweet and smokey. Meats Chicken breast is moist and seems like it's injected with flavor. Pulled pork has some crisp smoked pieces and some moist flakey pieces. Really good. Sausage is fantastic and has a smokey flavor. It's spicey after a few bites, it'll sneak up on you. Sides THE CORNBREAD!! It's almost like cornbread reimagined as a dessert. Moist almost like cake, sweet like corn souffle. The green beans taste like they've been soaked and simmered for hours in something delicious. The beans with meat have plenty of something sweet and smokey in them. The Mac n cheese isn't my style, I like it thick and creamy with cheese. This is a drier style with a browned cheese on top. My husband loves it. The black eyed peas and collards were seasoned perfectly. The dressing has turkey in it and it's pretty wet. Never had dressing like that before. I'd love to mix some cranberry sauce in it. The yams should probably be considered a dessert because of all the sweetness added. I LOVE sweet things and the yams were a little too sweet for me! Can't complain though, I ate it as dessert. Desserts We've had the peach cobbler and the sweet potato pie. Both to die for. We always get soooo full from eating the large food portions and then we'll say we'll just have a bite of dessert and save the rest for later... Nope. The chef had recommended the pulled pork before ordering and he was correct, very good. I like my pulled pork (chopped) with bits of bark and fat mixed in. This is true Georgia BBQ pork. Excellent on a sandwhich, and is and is exactly what I will order next visit. Sides we good but uneventful. Mac and cheese was homemade and many will like it. I prefer my Mac n cheese to be creamier. She took my order and even recommended an awesome choice. Also, The one guy outside on the grill is very pleasant to talk to. After conversing with him for approximately 10 minutes, I could tell that he was very passionate about his craft. He was Extremely well mannered and literally the most positive and polite person on site. I even challenged his knowledge on cooking, asking for advice on what to do with a very rare dish. Surprisingly he knows his foods!! I was shocked! My brother is a very big food critic and does a lot of promo/marketing for the food network. I told him he needed his own restaurant or show because his level of knowledge about food took me more than 7 years of culinary experience to achieve. The grill chef outside working his spell on the meats was very friendly and gave direction on where to order these smokey delights. I entered the store and was greeted with friendly faces of the patrons waiting for their orders, the clanging of utensils in a busy kitchen, and the sweet smokey aroma that drew me in. So I go back as i said i would and i am very disappointed today i will be calling a manager and asking for my funds back . Ok, so as soon as I saw this place was in a gas station, I knew I was going to be happy. You order in the back and pay in the front at the regular gas station register. The smoker is outside near the parking lot, and you can smell it as soon as the car door opens. I don't mean a human is smoking a cigarette in the parking lot, I mean a meat smoker. Just wanted to clear that up. However, I'm sure there is an occasional person smoking outside in the parking lot and I'm sure you can smell it when you open your car door. I feel like I'm getting off topic. Very friendly fast service. I got the pork plate with collards and Mac and cheese. Very good mac. The meat was a tad bit dry but it had an incredible smoke flavor. They gave me the meat on a bun accidentally but who am I to complain about extra bread. I also got corn bread. How on earth something so dang tasty came from inside of a Shell gas station, I do not know. But these folks know how to deliver on some quality BBQ! My husband and I ordered the beef brisket to share, with potato salad and Mac & cheese. The folks at the counter were so welcoming and nice. They even gave us some desserts to try out since it was our first time (Banana pudding and peach cobbler). They packed it up for us and we brought the food home. The portions were very generous and it came with a little loaf of corn bread. It was almost pound-cake like and it was a nice sweet contrast to our savory foods. My husband said the potato salad was one of the best he's ever had. I'm a huge potato salad fan and I gotta say, it really is a top contender. The Mac & cheese was soft, cheesy and delicious. The main event: the brisket. Wow. It had a savory spicy kick on the outside, tender on the inside. It was terrific. You could tell the guy spent some time smoking the meat and really takes pride in his product. This may be the best food in Mableton.
