An Architect's Review…read more As an architect, I work with contractors on a regular basis and needless to say, I was probably more particular than most when it came to choosing someone to work on my own home. Word of mouth and research led me to ARC / Armando... and I'm glad I went with him! From the beginning, communication was clear and straightforward. We went through the scope of work, my requirements and budget. I had some very basic drawings prepared to communicate my ideas. Along the way, Armando made suggestions to work with my requirements and budget. His pricing was reasonable and, most importantly, he completed the work within the budget we originally agreed upon. Anyone who has done a renovation before knows how easily costs can start creeping up once work begins. That was not my experience here. The scope and budget were established upfront and Armando stuck to them. And this was very important to me as I had no way of accommodating an increase in cost. The work was for a garage renovation, it included interior demo, replacement of an exterior window, addition of a new exterior door, vinyl wood flooring, drywall and installation of a new gypsum ceiling. Work progressed efficiently and to my expectations with no unnecessary delays. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and mostly Armando initiating the conversations to keep me updated. He was also very easy to work with on finishes and hardware. Some items I provided myself while others were sourced by him. Again, he made recommendations to work with my budget while not compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the quality of the work was exceptional. It has now been over a year since the renovation was completed and everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. Absolutely zero complaints! His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He constantly made suggestions when he felt something could be improved. For example, he suggested a more random tile pattern for the vinyl floor instead of the more regular stagger I had proposed. We went with his suggestion and I am very pleased with it. Armando is knowledgeable, reliable and a pleasure to work with. Coming from someone who deals with contractors professionally all the time, I don't make that recommendation lightly. Definitely highly recommended and he will be my first call for future projects!

Armando quickly put my mind at ease and earned my trust throughout the entire process. He delivered within the timeframe he promised and was very accommodating, even with my last-minute requests. He was always easy to reach whenever I had questions or wanted to check on progress. There were a few minor finishing details that could be improved, but they were far too small to take away from the overall experience. I'm very happy with how everything turned out and would definitely recommend Armando to friends and family!

The water was seeping/bubbling up through the concrete floor. Unfortunately,I spent a total of 20K on two other contractors before hiring Alpha. The work done by the first two contractors failed completely. When Damien from Alpha Structural initially came over, I knew I was in good hands right away. He is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. I would say the same about Brian and Nadir, who were the leads on my job. Brian especially, went above and beyond. Anytime I reached out to him he responded immediately, and was on site whenever I needed him. My garage was a nightmare scenario. I contacted just about every contractor who works on this kind of thing, from LA to San Diego. Not one of them could figure it out. Not one. This went on for 2 years. Alpha Structural took on a very tough job, and did what no other company could. They completely solved my garage flooding problem with a very strategic and comprehensive plan. Do yourself a favor and use this company! Don't waste time with others. Alpha Structural won't let you down.

I knew enough about construction and engineering to seek professional input and reached out to Alpha Structural. They were pretty booked out, however when I explained the gravity of the problem (people in a home office below the tub area), Franchesca worked her magic and got me an appointment in 2 days. Damien showed up promptly at the 9 Am start time. We walked around the property while I explained my concern, and noted several other possible issues. Damien was extremely through, asking numerious questions and providing input and advice along the way. He took the time to explain causes for the different issues and was personable, professional and extremely helpful. Luckly for me, my problems traced back to normal settling, a recent solar panel and roofing job and normal aging. It's no wonder why Alpha has so many 5 star reviews- They absolutitly deserve every one of those. I only wish other businesses were as well run, and with such amazing people like Damien and Franchesca.

I met Nelson through Yelp years ago when I needed one of my properties completely remodeled. Three short months later, and I have two lovely remodeled bathrooms and the amazing completely redesigned kitchen of my dreams. Yes, I am happy and I am truly enjoying my home. It still doesn't seem real, and I've joked all along to Tim that it seemed to belong to someone else and I might wake up and find it all gone. But, it's complete, and it's still here, and it's mine! I could not be happier. Choosing a contractor for a major remodel/renovation is not an easy task. I can attest to this fact by the sheer numbers of people who have asked me how I found my contractor when they learned I was in a remodeling process. I had to ask Tim for business cards because people were asking me to please share the name of my contractor. It's difficult to know who to trust, and I did interview several contractors. They were in and out within 10 minutes and then emailed a proposal. When Tim came to the house, he was here for over an hour, going over every detail, looking closely at the rooms, asking my preferences, answering my endless questions, filling me in on what would be necessary, and also what building codes required. I had no doubts after meeting Tim that I wanted him to tackle my ancient and damaged rooms. He skillfully brought my old house into the current century, and helped to create a warm, attractive, and happy atmosphere that I really appreciate. I often just stand and look at the new rooms, making myself believe they're real, and they're mine. I recommend Nowak and Sons without reservation, and with the highest praise. Sam Nowak, who I had the pleasure of meeting on two occasions, is a warm and friendly man with tons of knowledge that he has obviously passed on to his son, Tim. He has every right to be proud. Tim is very much a perfectionist, and will spot the tiniest problem before anyone else even knows it exists. He makes sure all work is done to his high standards, and does not accept anything less. I admire his tenacity and amazing eye for detail. He also has a great eye for design, color, texture, and layout. He told me he wouldn't let me make mistakes, and he didn't. He was also my mentor as I chose tile, paint, fixtures, and the other necessities. Tim is approachable, invites questions, has the answers, and makes sure all is well. My thanks to Tim and his crew for an enjoyable experience, and for bathrooms and a kitchen I will love and enjoy for many years to come. In addition to the things mentioned about his expertise in other reviews, Tim figured me out really quickly (and I appreciate that a lot). I am a very visual person and I change my mind if given the time/opportunity to do so. With the kitchen/patio project, Tim gave me plenty of time to carefully examine all options & give 2-3 "final answers" before actually ordering materials. With the bathroom, he wired my lighting so I could change my mind easily (and I did lol). Tim's patience and thoughtfulness is almost certainly why I am so thrilled with the end result each time. Every sub that he's brought into our home is equally fantastic. Our cabinetry vendor, the plumber, the tile guys - all friendly, clean, and great at what they do. Remodeling is SO stressful but Tim definitely makes it less so. He's available 24/7/365!

Project manager Josef was excellent in bringing in his partners (designers, foreman, etc.) to ensure from the design to finish we were collaborating and satisfied with the end result. For the garage, we had it drywalled (no insulation), installation of a attic ladder (bought from Home Depot) to make use of a pre-built storage area, updated garage door and exterior lighting. Front yard included adding extra pavement to be able to park two cars on the driveway (we have the pre WW II one car driveway) but looks like a part of the front yard design, installation of artificial grass (YAY), redo of the front porch to include redoing the porch ceiling with a bare wood look, and installation of a pathway to the front steps. We had 3 home improvement projects in the last couple of years (including this project) and WTG Builders was the best in terms of responsiveness, communication, and setting expectations. Perhaps I'm more wiser too about projects but I appreciated Project Manager Josef's communication and updates and the various trade teams were fantastic. I also took into consideration their work in the local Long Beach/Lakewood area which I think is important. I would use them again and recommend them for similar projects!
