We couldn't be happier with the complete renovation of our master bathroom. The contractor did an outstanding job from start to finish, completely transforming the space into a beautiful, modern, and functional bathroom. The attention to detail really stands out--from the custom shower with glass enclosure and pebble tile floor to the beautiful double vanity, lighting, fixtures, and built-in shower shelving. Everything was finished with a high level of care and craftsmanship. The finished bathroom looks even better than we had envisioned, and the quality of the work is evident throughout. We truly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship, and effort that went into making this project a success. read more

Let me just say this, JC Builders is hands down the best decision we made for our home. From the very first interaction, their team was professional, transparent, and truly cared about delivering high-quality work and they did not disappoint. This is actually the second time we hired them. Initially they remodeled the entire interior of the home (higher ceilings, chimney, kitchen, and bathrooms). With this crazy LA weather and rain, our roof couldn't take it anymore! We had 3 water leaks. To say the least, we called JC Builders, and had major work done. Our entire roof was replaced in just one weekend (yes, a WEEKEND), and they completely transformed the flooring throughout our entire house as well!!! . The results? STUNNING. They respected our time, our home, and our vision. What stood out the most was their efficiency, work ethic, and how easy they made the entire process. They showed up, got to work, and handled it all with the kind of precision and care you rarely see these days. It honestly felt like we had a team of experts and family working on our home at the same time. You know what's the best part? He immediately offered to repair the part of the ceiling that had the leaks !!! Noticed a crack in our tile and immediately told us his team was available to repair it as well, except at this point we opted for replacement . Merry Christmas to us. If you're looking for a contractor you can trust, that delivers impeccable results, meets deadlines, and communicates every step of the way, JC Builders is IT. Thank you, Joey for the hard work amd dedication. We are forever grateful! read more

JC Builders and Design did an amazing job transforming my 3 bed, 1 bath home into a 4 bed, 3 bath forever home. Not only did they add a 500 square foot addition, but also worked on the inside layout to make it our dream home. They were able to match our existing windows and our 5 year old Stucco as well. They also changed out our entire roof and the color they suggested we use looks great with the color of our house. The owner, Joey was always in contact with me regarding all inspections and what the next steps would be. Any concerns I had were quickly addressed by Joey and his team. One of my neighbors loved my roof so much that he hired JC Builders to do his as well. My friends and family have given us many compliments on how our house looks now. They even think that we paid much more than we actually did. They were able to beat out other estimates we had received. Thank you, Joey and your team at JC Builders and Desing. read more

JC Builders Design, built a 2 bedroom and 1 bath ADU in the city of Duarte, Ca. Although the ADU is about 800 sq ft it does feel to be much roomier home than its tiny footprint. The builder is composed of a father and son duo, although I wrote up the contract with Joe I meanly dealt with Joey the son. Joey was extremely attentive to all my wants an needs for the ADU. I was given a budget and I was allowed to freely shop for items such as the light fixtures, tile, sink, cabinets, faucets, tile roof and so forth. During the build if I had any questions or concerns I would give Joey a call and his response was pretty prompt. If I had to build again, Joey would get my call! read more

I was impressed by how well JC Builders did their work. The completed ADU is not only nice to look at, but it also works well and meets my specific wants. He went above and beyond to quickly deal with any problems or changes. This level of commitment to making sure clients are happy is truly admirable and sets JC Builders apart in the construction business. I recommend that you hire Joe and JC Builders for any building project, but especially if you want to turn your garage into an ADU. I saw this JC Builders and Design's van while driving and took a picture of their vehicle (has the phone number) just in case I might need them to work on my project. I'm so glad I did. Got me a tuff shed and needed some electrical work done. I pulled a permit with the city and they were the first one I called to get an estimate. We set up an appointment and Joe was on time. We talked about what I wanted done and we negotiated a little and we were both satisfied so I decided to use his service. Joe and his 2 kids came the very next day and completed the job in one day. It's so nice to see a father and son team. He explained the procedures though out the whole process. Brought in an awesome electrician which did an awesome work and now my shed has outlets, switches, smoke detector, and lights. They also took care of contacting the city inspector and told me the time and date the inspector would show up. The inspector came and the work passed with flying colors. I am truly satisfied and what a great team work Joe and his crew are. I saw the negative review after I called him and had a doubt, but his professionalism and work ethic put that doubt away for good. He deserves his 5 stars. Job well done! read more

Most renovations are pretty hectic and stressful. My experience is no exception. In the end, I was satisfied overall with the work and how it turned out. Didn't go too much over budget, but it was tough. However, one genuinely dishonest and unprofessional act by Joe Cortez pretty much ruined the entire experience for me. I'm not sure if his son, Joey, has taken over the business or not, but this is specifically for Joe (the father). A couple of weeks after moving in, I found my 2nd floor master shower leaking into my kitchen. The plumbers said the waterproofing on the shower tub my contractor installed failed. I called Joe and told him about the leak and he said he didn't have the funds to fix it. I called another contractor and got an estimate for redoing the floor of the shower, about $1000. Joe said he'd reimburse me the cost of the repairs. Fast forward a few weeks, months, and even years now. He has every excuse in the book for not having the funds for reimbursement. Joe is a master at coming up with excuses. After he's run out of excuses, he will stop taking your calls. There's another reviewer, Al, who sounds like he's had similar issues with Joe as I have. I should have seen this coming though, he had creditors call him left and right while he was on the job. This should have been a red flag. It's sad though, as I thought Joe's work was overall satisfactory. Even the shower leak, I understands things can go wrong. Would not have faulted him if he either fixed it or reimbursed me the cost to fix it. If he had not skipped out on his reimbursement promise for his failed work, I could have sent him plenty of more clients and left a favorable review. But if anything, your contractor should be trustworthy, and Joe has proven he is not. read more

This man is a CON down to his very core. A CONtractor... It took a year for me to recover the monies lost and to repair the damage this man did to my home. Thank goodness he had a bond and thank goodness for the Contractors State license board who almost took his license for what he did. He took shortcuts and always asked for an advance on the project. Do your research before you hire him! It was a bad experience to say the least. Do not fall victim to this man's unethical business practices!!! read more

Joe and his team did an excellent job on my house in Anaheim, CA. Here is what we had done: 1) Knock down of unpermitted enclosed and cemented patio. 2) Addition of a master suite with bathroom and laundry room that totaled 386 square feet. 3) Complete re-pipe with PEX including new sewer lines. 4) Completely tiled the house. 5) Add A/C 6) New heating unit moved from hallway to attic and add shower to existing master bedroom. 7) Add 200amp electrical panel with 100amp sub panel. 8) Added door from house to the garage. 9) Moved the laundry inside into the newly added laundry room. 10) Repainted entire house. 11) Added recessed lighting in kitchen. It went as smoothly as a project of this scope can go. There were some hiccups along they way which will ALWAYS happen during construction but they were handled professionally. The inspector for our area was very difficult to work with and wanted us to do things that were above and beyond what the building code asked for so Joe was able to get is an inspector that went by code and was much easier to work with to be able to get the job done. Also, when I noticed mistakes arise Joe and his team corrected them without any complaint and made it right - as it should be. After the project was done, there were a few issues with the heating unit but he had his heating guy on it right away. He even called to follow up a few times to make sure it was taken care of to my satisfaction. I would definitely hire him for my next project! I have a hard time believing the one star reviews but if they are true, he has definitely changed the way he operates. Thanks Joe! read more

My rate for JC Builders Design is a ZERO! My repairs started on February 2018. My life and home has been a circus for the last 6 months and still is. Jose Cortez is a con artist, he took our deposit and was also paid in full for various work he started and will not finish repairs. Jose Cortez refuses to be responsible for all errors and all unfinished projects in my home. I have heard him tell his workers "just leave it like that, it's okay" when in reality the work is a mess. Jose would get defensive when approached with mistakes and asked to redo all errors and refuses or answers "we didn't do that". We have put all our trust in this company and paid for 90% of all work and now it is at a stop. This disaster has lead us to report Jose Cortez to the contractors State License Board & waiting for the process of the board. Now I know why he continued to ask us to give him a good rate before any work was started, because he knows how bad it usually gets with the clients, which I refused to give him a good review. People..... don't hire this individual he will take you for a ride, take your money and not complete your job. He will make you believe he has pulled permits and he will not do so. He lies about everything and will not show to your work area for weeks and has every excuse for everything on his behalf. He cheats and steals from clients (over buys material with clients money and sells to future clients vs returning ) and his own workers. Stay away from JC Builders! read more
