Paying $172 for a diagnostics test lol

Was a day late in giving me the diagnostics. Then proceeded to send me the affordable price of $993 to install a $80 starter. Ontop of the $172 fee for them to LOOK at my vehicle

    Loose hoses

TC Auto review Avoid this place like the plague. Perhaps Dubs right down the road, not the cheapest but they always do good work. I did not think it was possible to have a worse experience, and then I came here. I really wanted to like this place, as they are extremely close to my house. Last year I had a bad experience but the manager rectified the situation so I decided to give them another chance. That was a huge mistake. My car was overheating due to a coolant leak. After dropping about $1000 on a new radiator, I would reasonably expect a functional cooling system, but a few weeks later, the car is overheating again and the radiator is running dry. I brought it back since they said I had a 3-year warranty. That warranty is worthless. They said I needed to pay another $580 for some plastic heater hose connections that broke. I told them I'd just come get the car and figure it out myself. When I got there, they charged me $170 even though they did nothing because they had to do a pressure test to figure out the problem. They did not disclose this fee beforehand. It gets worse. Luckily, I had brought coolant to fill the radiator so it wouldn't overheat on the 5-minute drive home. When I popped the hood to do this, it was all disassembled, missing cover, loose hoses laying around, etc. Who knows what kind of damage I might have done if I had tried to drive it home like that, assuming it would have even turned on at all, but I'm glad I didn't try. They better not charge me for at least putting the car back together, but I wouldn't be surprised with their history of figuring out ways to rip you off. By the way, if you choose not to do yourself a favor and ignore my advice, be prepared to pay $150 diagnostics fee before they even touch your car. Other places do this, but they at least credit that for any repairs they end up doing. Not so at TC. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews. Must have been some better glory days in their past. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this money pit. Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me... but NEVER AGAIN. New update: it gets even worse. After getting my car back the second time, they had put the air hose and beauty cover back on so it looked reassembled, but I took it home and took those back off so I could figure it out and there are at least three completely loose hoses back there. At this point this is looking like willful sabotage... if it's not, then it's gross negligence... either way not a shop you should entrust your vehicle.

I have an Endurance extended warranty, and at other repair facilities I have paid the $100 deductible and left with a properly functioning vehicle. In this case, I brought my car in for a window regulator (the part that raises and lowers the window; approximately $59 shop cost) and a radio that was not working (approximately $225 shop cost for a replacement). I later received a call stating that the vehicle was ready, but I was quoted $1,400. When I contacted Endurance, I was told they had authorized $99 for the regulator and $226 for the radio, plus labor based on the national repair manual (the standard time a qualified mechanic should need to replace and test the items). However, Christian Brothers charged me $256 for the regulator alone, despite the part reportedly costing the shop about $59 (or less). Additionally, I did not receive what I believe I was charged for regarding the radio. Endurance authorized $667.98 for the repairs, which I consider a fair and honest price for the work. The shop also charged me two separate full diagnostic fees--one for the regulator and another for the radio--despite both issues being readily apparent. I do not believe a complete diagnostic was performed in either instance. I was not given a choice or an opportunity to authorize the work and pricing in advance. I informed them I would not pay the $1,400 bill and that I would pick up the vehicle to take it to an honest shop. Ultimately, I was required to pay $420 for two diagnostic charges to retrieve my car. I am a 100% disabled veteran with a service connection, and I do not drive often. My options were $420 or $1,400. When my wife went to pick up the vehicle, she waited approximately one hour while the shop removed the newly installed parts and reinstalled the damaged parts. This suggests the actual repair time was less than an hour. I am 70 years old, and shops that operate this way are often described as dishonest. I encourage others--especially veterans--to avoid this business. I am connected with many veteran groups, and I will be warning fellow veterans not to use Christian Brothers Automotive.

I wasn't going to leave a review because frankly I couldn't be bothered to waste any more time…read morethinking about this place but my most recent car issue that was a direct result of their incompetence has prompted me otherwise. Here are 5 reasons why I will never bring my vehicles here and why you shouldn't either, or at the very least you should question everything. Which is unfortunate because you should be able to trust that you are getting good work done (which does not happen here, please read all the bad reviews and listen to them) 1. we brought our mini van here for alternator issues and because we have insurance this was one of the approved places. When given a quote for the repairs we questioned why the bill was so high when we had insurance to cover the issues. We were told it's because the insurance was only covering a portion of the cost and we had to foot the rest. Well we called the insurance ourselves and told them what was going on and they said that we should not have to pay that much and that they approved everything. We then went over the estimate with the insurance company and found out that Christian Brothers had given the insurance a much lower estimate than they gave us and were trying to charge us for that difference. When we confronted Christian Brothers about the discrepancy in prices they told us that it was a mistake on their end and the lady who had done the estimate had not dealt with insurances before. Basically their mistake would have cost us an extra thousand dollars had we not questioned them and talked to the insurance ourselves 2. When going over the final price for the repairs they assured us that the price included everything and would not change anymore. When we went to pick up the car they tried to say that the price was an additional hundred dollars more because of diagnostic fees. Well we argued that with them and they eventually dropped the price back down to what was originally quoted. 3. They approved repairs without calling and discussing it with us even though I explicitly asked to be informed of any repairs before they completed them. 4. They completed repairs August 18th and today (September 8th) I took my car to Jiffy Lube on Saratoga and Weber (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE) for an oil change, while there they informed me that my coolant was low and topped it off. I left there and drove to HEB where I noticed that my car was leaking orange fluid. Immediately called Jiffy Lube and they came out to HEB and inspected my car for me and informed me that the hose for the coolant was not properly attached and had come off resulting in the coolant spilling out. They then reattached the hose correctly and refilled my coolant in the HEB parking lot for free. They reviewed the footage in their garage showing they had not touched the hose and were not responsible for the leak. With that information I went back to Christian Brothers to bring the issue to their attention and the manager admitted that their technicians did not replace the hose correctly resulting in the coolant leak (which could have been disastrous had it not happened when it did because we are road-tripping with the car tomorrow) For this very stressful situation that was a direct result of their incompetence they gave me a coupon for a free oil change with them, which is worthless to me because I will never go there again.

After getting my oil changed at a Take 5 in Sugar Land, I made the hyperspace jump down to Corpus Christi to visit family. Once I landed at my sister's house, there it was, a loud clack! Turns out, my skid plate had fallen and was hanging on by two brave little screws, holding on for dear life. Unsure of what to do, I rolled into the Take 5 on Saratoga; enter the heroes of this saga. These guys didn't just help; they went full Jedi Council on it. They diagnosed the problem faster than R2-D2 slicing into a Death Star terminal, realized they didn't have the screws, and sent me just down the street to O'Reilly's. Once I returned, they reinstalled the skid plate without hesitation, no charge, no hassle; just honor, skill, and kindness worthy of a Yoda nod. They didn't ask for credits, only to do what's right for the company and the customer. I was so blown away by their integrity and good spirit that I brought back drinks and snacks as a small token of appreciation. If there were a Rebel Alliance of honest mechanics, the Saratoga Take 5 crew would be leading it. Too bad I can't bring my ship here for every oil change, they've definitely earned my lifelong loyalty. 10 out of 10 stars! This is the Take 5 you're looking for.
