Beware! This place is a total con. They can not give a line item estimate.They wanted to charge me $1500 dollars for under $300 worth of MSRP parts and another $800 to install them. When I questioned the price they told me that the parts I looked up (OEM parts) were "do it yourself parts". I told them I would never be back. It turned out my problem was a ground wire which cost me nothing to fix. Parts are parts. They tried to con because I a woman and elderly. But I'm not stupid. Took my bronco to get the speedometer fixed. After weeks of being at Dubs Garage and paying almost $5000 ....there problem still going on. Yes they replaced headlights changed battery got an inspection and change some wires, but to me that doesn't justify $5000 and still have the issue that I took it in for. Not to mention they seem to act like nothing gave us the keys and made us think everything was fine until we got in to drive off. Went back in and they are like well we can't find the part that is needed blah blah blah. I then get online and find one for $175. This place is a joke and apparently robs people blind. I can't begin to tell you how Dubs Garage helped us! We called in the morning and said sometime late in the afternoon we would picking up a car and had to drive it back to Austin that same day. We didn't know the condition of the car and we needed them to do whatever was necessary to get it on the road. We didn't get the car until late in the day. We realized the transmission was slipping a bit, and the brakes weren't very tight, the tires needed air. We called at 4:30 and said we were 20 minutes out and they said "No problem!" Everyone was accommodating. The ladies in the front office were very professional and the nicest people in the world. The mechanic was fast, got the tires filled and didn't try to get any repairs out of us at all. He said the car was roadworthy and we made the trip home to Austin safely. We were far from home, and we had many choices of places to call for this service. We are so glad we picked a local, family owned business that's been around since the year I was born. I will start this review off with some positives. The front desk staff are very nice. They also sometimes offer rides home when your car is being worked on. You also receive pics of the issues found. Here is the bad: I had my car serviced there in November 2023. At that time my car had the works done. New brakes, rotors, brake system flushed, manual transmission serviced, oil change, blah blah blah. Almost 4k worth of work. Since that time, my car has been driven about 2900 miles. Yes, only 2900 miles. 1600 of those miles were out of state. My car does not get driven far or frequently, maybe once a week. I took my car back this week and the estimate was for 1500. Imagine my shock when they wanted to service my manual transmission. AGAIN. 2961 miles after IT WAS JUST SERVICED!!! Usually they're not serviced until about 30k miles. The lady at the desk said 'the tech just added that on based on mileage recommendation, they didn't look back at your service record'. Ok cool. So you want to charge me twice as much (last service 11/23 was 125, now want 325) for a service that was just done. What if I never looked back at my last service record or remembered that it was just done? Did they even check the transmission fluid? Obviously not, because if they did, they would have seen the fluid is basically brand new. I would have been ripped off! That's cool! When I called the lady out on it she didn't have much to say. They also had an inexperienced person 'new to driving manuals' drive my car. He apparently thought something was wrong with my clutch. And my brakes too apparently. You know, the brakes I just had fully serviced and replaced less than 3k miles ago. Why on earth are you having a new manual driver diagnose clutch problems?! They don't know what normal and abnormal feels like! For what it's worth. I don't have clutch problems. No grinding gears, no issues shifting, my clutch has had the same engagement point. I didn't even take it in for clutch problems! Oh, and my brand new brakes work JUST FINE, I might add. They wanted to charge me 75 for clutch diagnostic and 75 for brake diagnostic. No thanks. They wanted to charge me over 300 to replace two radiator hoses (each hose costs about 50 tops btw). I posted the estimate on Reddit and the mechanics there said the industry standard time to change those two parts are 0.8 of an hour, and even if California wages were being paid, over 300 for that service was highway robbery. So, if you take your vehicle here, they will treat you nicely. It is to get your money. And they may duplicate services that are completely unnecessary and overpriced. Be sure to look over your service records closely to see if you actually need what they recommend. I would approach this shop with extreme skepticism when they make their recommendations. I would also double check their work before leaving. Last time, my door panel fell off and another piece had not been put back on before I even left the parking lot. I now have zero faith and trust in this shop. I will be taking my business and two vehicles elsewhere. read more

I've had 2 things done to my SUV at Dubs. The first was the air pump on the anti-pollution system. Full price for the job at Autonation dealership was $4,200.00. Parts were $2,900.00. Dubs did it for a little less than $3,600.00 saving me $600.00. They forgot to put the last 4 screws in the fender well. The good thing about dubs is they are honest as the day is long. They need to have a second mechanic go over their work so they don't make silly little stupid mistakes at the end of their jobs like they did on my car. P.S. I'm an aircraft mechanic. read more

The new waiting area is awesome. I do like the comfortable atmosphere and coffee. The shuttle service is also an added bonus. I have never been pressured to have more done than what is needed, and they are considerate to my budget and assist with scheduling things out over time when needed. I have had to wait there for service and it has never been a long wait..but of course they have a courtesy vehicle for you. You receive a very detailed and comprehensive report of the work received. I have been going to Dub's for 33 years and always get great service. I appreciate friendly customer service and the ride to work. I have had 4 cars in the past 33 years and I've taken all of them to Dub's for everything from routine maintenance to "oh hell why is that light blinking" issues. It's a pretty worrisome experience trying to find good mechanics that stand behind their work, and the two year warranty on their work is a very welcomed bonus. Had an alternator issue with my 2004 Jeep LJ. They took care of the issue quickly and at a fair price. Recommend I have a few other things done at the same time but I didn't feel pressured about it. Prices were fair for all work done and the Jeep is running great. Nice to know they will do the work in an older model car as the dealer in Aransas Pass won't work on cars over 10 years old. I took my truck in for one thing and they just insisted there were other things wrong with my truck. I was definitely ripped off. My battery and alternator were fine when I took it in. All of an sudden it goes out while it's there? I don't think so. My cruise control wasn't working and I asked them to fix it. They sort of did but a week later it was not working again and when I called they told me they just got lucky with the fix and I needed to bring it back in and get charged more diagnostic costs. Being in the military, it is a pain always having to find a trustworthy mechanic. If you want my money, treat me right...otherwise I'll take my business elsewhere. Luckily, I found Dub's. They were honest and quickly diagnosed the problem to my 2008 Nissan Xterra. I dropped my vehicle off and got it the very next day. It was cheaper than I had expected. They charge a $57 diagnostic fee up front for EACH INDIVIDUAL thing you ask them to look at. So if you have 4 things wrong, it will cost $230 just for them to look at it and not do anything. I took my car in for a couple minor issues and was quoted multiple thousands of dollars to fix, and they tried to make it seem like it all needed to be fixed right then or I may "want to consider getting a different car all together". After paying the diagnostic fee, I got FREE estimates from several other mechanics and got my car fixed for one-third the cost at a different, highly rated shop. read more

I used to drive out of town to a Lexus dealership to get my car serviced. I was nervous about coming to non-Lexus auto repair shop. But after doing my research by reading up on their reviews and even asking my patients who they trust with their cars, I soon decided to take my car to Dubs Garage. This was about a year ago now, and now I go to them for everything. They have an excellent staff and provide superb service. I was blown away by how honest they are. Greg is phenomenal, the guy can usually figure out what's going on and tell you what needs to be fixed and what can wait. I had gotten, unbeknownst to me, contaminated gas from Snappy's (on Yorktown/Cimarron) and my car quickly stalled a couple of blocks away. This happened in the evening when everything was closed. So I had the tow truck take the car and drop it off in the parking lot of Dub's garage. They already had a full day, but nevertheless, they looked into my car. They soon diagnosed the problem after replacing the fuel injector. They drained out my "gasoline" and flushed the lines with real gas. They showed me a sample of the gasoline and more than 85% of it was water!! The new injector had been contaminated by the water and so it had to be replaced again with a second injector. To my surprise, they were able to replace it at no extra cost. The whole ordeal was stressful but Greg and the gang made it all pleasant and all for more than a reasonable price. I know that women are often taken advantage at car shops, and are falsely told they have many problems with their cars and then end up paying much more. My wife, who has a different last name, came alone to get an oil change here but didn't tell them I had recommended them or that they had been servicing my car. She was blown away from her overall experience. She got her oil changed at a fair price without any hassle or suggestions to get "other problems" to the car fixed. She also said there's a lovely woman there that provided her complimentary drop-off and pick-up so that she didn't have to wait for the car at the shop. Because of prior experiences from other shops, she absolutely hates going to auto repair shops. So this was a big thumbs up from her. Bill, the owner, is fantastic as well. He will often inform us on discounts, reminders, and other useful emails. Professional, honest, knowledgeable, excellent service and pricing, and courteous. A quick and handy location to get your state inspection done. Not super easy to get in and out of if they are busy due to the small parking lot, but the service was friendly. I love cats, but if you are allergic then the waiting area might be a danger zone for you since there is cat hair on some of the furniture from their furry mascot. They saved us completely! We are from out of town, getting my little sister settled in for college when we were doing some dorm shopping at Walmart... All of a sudden we hear a strange noise coming from my mom's hummer. I called 20min before Dub's closed and they said to come in and they'll check it out. Very impressed with Dub's Garage. I am in the military, and have three vehicles that I need to keep up. This has often proved to be challenging because it's hard to find reliable mechanics when I continue moving. I found Dub's though google reviews & the prior review here on Yelp. I promise you these guys won't disappoint. I have taken in my 2012 Mazda3 and 1995 Ram 2500 and both vehicles have gotten serviced right away and have been checked out, without me having to request a thing.
