    Chocolate sprinkle donut
    Izabella S.

I drive by here every day and finally decided to stop and let me tell you it's worth it! They have a variety of basic and fun donuts to choose from. I kept it simple this time and went with a plain donut with chocolate frosting and plenty of sprinkles and let me tell you, it's a great donut! I totally have to come back and try their specialty flavors! They also have matcha and coffees that looked really good. I came around 11:30 so it was dead inside and the staff was super sweet. The only downside would be where the parking is located along the street which can sometimes be a hassle to get out of.

Y'all these are the best donuts in Kansas. There I said it. I am currently on maternity leave and a good friend came by today to meet the baby and brought a box of these in tow. Everything from the hazelnut filled donut to the apple fritter were insanely good. All of the ones we tried were yeast donuts, light and airy, and chock full of flavor. KC has some great donuts too but this one might be my current fave for the expanded metro. I already can't wait for a reason to have these again, and it'll for sure be on my regular list for when we are in Lawrence.

I think I found the best donuts in Kansas! These were incredible! The rhubarb fritter melted in my mouth. The plain glazed was so soft! We also go the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich that they get from Barker Bakery and it was amazing too. I ordered a nitro cold brew but something happened to the machine while pouring mine and it broke. After a bit of a wait I got the iced latte that they comped me for because the wait which was so nice. We happily make the 1 hour 10 minute round trip drive for these donuts any day!

Chz breakfast sammie (contains gouda, egg and probably green chiles)

Stopped in for donuts on a Saturday morninf, and noticed the sign about breakfast sandwiches. Two prices: one for a particular style, and another for 'blue tape' labeled sandwiches. We bought two blue tape sandwiches, one labeled 'chorizo' and the other 'chz' (which we presumed was cheese). Both had sesame-topped buns, and fluffy scrambled egg layers. But this is where the descriptions broke down- my son's 'chorizo' contained what he described as corned beef (he has some pretty well-tuned taste buds so I was surprised), and my sandwich (gouda was the cheese) also contained a layer of what I could only describe as green chile. Good, but not as described. The donuts we bought were pretty standard, 3 glazed and one filled, and we've been there often enough I know what I enjoy (donuts are 5 of 5 stars, btw). The quality of the food was 5 star, but the labeling and food choice was unclear and could easily be off-putting for those who aren't adventuresome. The server behind the counter was prompt & polite, but seemed tired/distracted. The ambiance was pleasant & cheerful as ever, and the crowd gathered in the seating area seemed to also be enjoying their donuts. Moral of the story? No harm done for adventuresome eaters with zero allergies, but it would be well-advised for the owners/employees to more clearly represent their offerings & ingredients.

BEST NITRO COLD BREW IN LAWRENCE!! Baristas are super nice and the smells are great too. The Bavarian cream filled donut is my personal favorite. All donuts are fresh and they normally do deals towards the end of the day if that's your thing. ;) Also, loyalty program!

I mean fresh handmade doughnuts from the 1900 Barker team? Like come on, you know these are legit. They have brioche and cake donuts with a variety of different flavors from classic vanilla glazed to buttermilk lime. These are gourmet donuts and of course there's going to be a premium on these since they're not run of the mill ones. Out of the four flavors I got, my favorite was the maple white chocolate crumbs twist because I loved the contrast from the pillowy dough to the sweet crumby topping. I'd say the PBJ filled one could be improved upon actual peanut butter and not a powder. Overall, I'm just glad there's another doughnut shop and so I'll happily make the trek for these when I can. Taylor's is open on Saturday's only for the moment so go early if you want more choices of doughnuts because they do sell out. Follow their Instagram for schedule updates! Happy eating and remember: Don't deny, satisfy!

5 regular donuts, 1 blueberry fritter & 1 lemon cream filled donut!

Super quick service and amazingly delicious donuts. Pricier than the average donut shop, however the quality is in the ingredients!

Insanely good donuts with some originality in play. Count me as a big fan. Came on a Saturday with a friend and we both concur, a very, very positive addition to the Lawrence food scene. Was unaware they were tied to 1900 Barker so not surprised given the excellent work at that bakery. We only tried the buttermilk donut with lime--I confess I was dubious--and it's a real crowd please. All that good sugary hit you get and then throw in the tang of some lime zest and who knows what and you have a real taste sensation going on. Also tried the apple fritter which appears to use local apples, and another hit on their hands. Which now means I need to get back soon for their current, as I understand it, only open on Saturdays theme until they're ready to roll full-time. There was a very good crowd when we went around 9:00 a.m. and everyone appeared to enjoy it. Some seating indoors, but the best is a new patio built on the West side of the building. If their coffee is as good as 1900 Barker, I want to know, which means I'm headed there again this coming Saturday. If you come: limited parking in front of the store. Major credit cards accepted. Oh, and they left the old laundromat signed but updated it to include bakery goods. Kudos. I like what's going on here and wish them long-term success.

    Real apple in the fritter!

Had a couple of donuts/pastries and a sandwich. Everything was good and received some good help as well. The Apple Fritter was 'light' and yum and had actual apple slices! The drive from Topeka was worth it!

Full disclosure I came here with a lot of uncertainty. There's a TON of coffee shops in Lawrence…read moreand they all aren't created equal. I took a meeting here and the person I was meeting with gave me a few local options. This was the place I hadn't been yet so I thought I'd go a bit out of my comfort zone and try a new spot. Something I was nervous about from the photos on Yelp was if there would be enough inside seating when I arrived for a meeting. When I pulled up, I was still a bit anxious about this as the front lot was full and I had to pull to the back to park. Once I got out of my car and walked through the cafe to the front to order my anxieties about seating had diminished. It's much larger inside than the outside appears and the photos here on Yelp don't really do the indoors justice. Yes, the outdoor seating is really cute and well shaded so I get why folks focus on it, but if you're like me and wanting to get some work done you'll find a comfortable spot here. Now onto the coffee. As I made my way into the shop I noticed one of my art school professors (we both sort of looked at each other like "do I know you?") and I moved on, but that's a good sign. The art teachers usually know where to snag a decent cup of coffee. When I ordered I tried one of their special drinks and chatted with the baristas about it before I made my choice. Extra points here because not only was the drink really, really good, but the girls working were beyond friendly and answered all of my questions. I'm not lying when I say this was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in Lawrence in some time. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

When I got to the window it took a min or two for the girl to notice me. She was on her phone.. which is okay but she didn't wash her hands before starting to make my drink. Then I saw her pull down some cup out of the matcha bin and warm up with whisk with water (totally normal matcha stuff) but then she used the water to put into my matcha and I don't know why that kinda grossed me out. Maybe because it was from the matcha bin cup that's in that bin. Then the worst part was the oat milk I wanted had been sitting out and it wasn't warm but it wasn't frosty cold you know? Maybe I shouldn't watch how the sausage is made you know? But idk it just kinda gave me the yuckies and I didn't wanna drink it. Also just overall tip for Uplift, I think the matcha needs a littttke bit more matcha to milk ratio. It's a bit milk heavy. Also maybe a touch more syrup would be perfect! I'm still gonna go back because I believe in you guys. Beautiful drive thru (to get those ambiance points). But yeah I just would like a little more refined.
