More than a little disappointed this time - my boyfriend's burger came out raw in the middle. The food here used to be so good, but something has changed. We were served on tiny paper plates just big enough to hold our sandwich. Oh well, at least the beer and the Saratoga chips are still good enough to go there and watch the game. read more

We come here occasionally but haven't been in about 6 months. Came in tonight for dinner and drinks. Not crowded. Ordered a chicken sandwich. Tasted like old grease. Brown grease dripping on my paper plate and very dry. Had to sent it back 2 times. Ordered without cheese .. came with cheese and no tomato, pickle or lettuce. Sent it back again came out with no pickle. Literally the worst chicken sandwich I've ever had. People really want good food when they come out with prices how they are. We have tried to like the Tavern. It's so close to home. We won't be back . Whoever the owner is needs to tell the employees to be nice and at least look like they care that you don't like your food. Slow service even though it was half empty. Super greasy nacho chips (to the point that they were actually limp and soggy). Good burger, good hot dog. I got a double buffalo trace on the rocks. Go a glass packed with ice and half filled with bourbon. I would guess it to be 3/4 oz and got charged $14.90 for it. Our waitress / bar person never came back around so no ability to complain. Very friendly and attentive staff. They were able to prepare the mahi mahi and salmon gluten free alongside their house salad. Food was delicious. Others in our party enjoyed various versions of Mac & cheese which they are known for. Enjoyed the music which started earlier than planned! Decided to give the restaurant a shot. It's a seat your self type of bar . We sat down and the server came as soon we sat down. Took our drink order and came back promptly. We decided to order some pretzel sticks with cheese for a appetizer. The pretzel was soft and warm and didn't have alot of salt on it. Our main dish was I ordered a Westside dawg which comes with quarter pound hotdog with bbq sauce and fried onion straws and cheddar cheese and bacon. My wife ordered the goetta mac and chesse. The goetta wasn't over powering. It had good flavor. Overall the total price was 50.00 with tip. Our server was quick to refill our drinks . read more

Haven't been here for awhile. Stopped in for burger week. Their 007 burger was the special. It's a basic burger with their special sauce. The burger had a good taste but was very greasy where my bun was soggy. We had the hanky panky's which were good but the only issue we had with them was that the meat was a ball and when you bit into them they fell off and landed on the table. They do have a big beer selection which was good, but everything was plastic or styrofoam which they throw everything out. Overall it was the same as several years ago and it's not going to be the first choice to eat. read more

What a freakin gem of a find! My friend that lives on this side of town and I were trying to find a place to eat that was chill enough for us to dinner at after work. She mentioned she had a few good things from some colleagues about TotB, so off we went! The tavern is located in an unassuming strip mall at a - shocker - bend in the road. The parking is plentiful but awkward; the spaces are small if you drive a larger vehicle. The inside of the restaurant has the feel of a neighborhood sports bar. I thought I was in for some frozen wings and Bud Lite, but man was I wrong! First thing I noticed was that they have an excellent tap selection. The first time I was here, I had a pumpkin beer (yes, I'm a little behind on reviewing!), and the kind server had the brilliant idea of giving it a honey brown sugar top. GAMECHANGER! It wasn't heavy enough that it gave dessert vibes so it was easy to drink a couple of them. Their menu is heavy on the midwestern, specifically Cincinnati-special, cuisine. They have hanky pankys, y'all!! In true Ohio fashion, I asked my friend from San Diego how she likes her hanky pankys. She responded with concern for my out of place sexual innuendo, to which I had to explain that hanky pankys are an iconic, PG-rated appetizer. Tavern does them the right way on pumpernickel rye. I unfortunately had to share my order, but I'd down a whole plate by myself, easy. TotB is known for their Mac and cheese. As your resident Goetta aficionado, of course I had to order their Goetta Mac. My friend steered toward the lobster Mac. I was surprised that my friends pasta had more lobster than mine did Goetta. I also thought the noodles themselves could have had more cheese sauce. Nonetheless, it was still tasty and I finished what I could before becoming full. Unfortunately, I do not have the privilege of living close enough to this establishment to visit more frequently, nor do I have the funds to move closer. No sir, not in this economy! I've ordered the Halle Berry before and have really enjoyed it. The turkey was thick, the chips that came with it were delicious. I'm pregnant and was craving that with the cranberry mayo.. to say I was disappointed was an absolute understatement. I was totally shocked to find that there were no chips in my box when I opened it. I called the restaurant thinking there was just a mistake. Nope, chips no longer come with meals. My sandwich was also missing lettuce, which is something minor but just made the whole experience worse. I ordered a burger (no bun) for my mom which was equally disappointing. I feel like the menu should be very open about not coming with sides, especially because they have in the past. I paid 23.48 for a hamburger patty and a turkey sandwich. It wasn't too busy when we visited. Our waitress was fast and attentive. We got the pretzels with cheese and chips and cheese to start, and they were good with plenty of cheese for dipping. I got the breakfast burger, which was tasty, but the egg was a little overdone. The fries were killer. My girlfriend got a burger and the Mac and cheese. Like others have said, I'm not sure why they have a whole menu devoted to Mac and cheese, because it was pretty bad. The noodles on top are all dried out from the broiler, and it's pretty tasteless. This was a simple restaurant barely 10 minutes down the road from us. I actually enjoyed their black bean burger much more than Bru's - it was sturdier and held its shape better. The Tavern Mac ($5.99) and the Corn Bites ($7.99) were both tasty as well. Went to a late lunch on a Saturday - there was no wait, which was great for me. Chuck Norris burger and fries: not the prettiest thing I've ever seen but the taste was on point! Jalapeño bacon, pepper Jack cheese and Tavern sauce - all great. The bun was so soft. Cant believe I'm saying this but I could have used a less soft bun? The fries were salty, crispy, and delicious. I want more right now! Corn bites: corn, cheese, diced peppers, breaded and fried. Served with chipotle ranch. DELICIOUS. Mac n cheese: ordered this plain (toddlers ) but it was still delicious! Everything is served on paper and plastic, maybe due to Covid, maybe not? Either way, the food didn't photograph well but we were happy with the flavor, service, and environment. We had a group of 10 and we were seated quickly and we our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Most of our group got mac n' cheese of some type, but one person got a burger and another got loaded fries of some sort. Everyone was pleased, though some people said the mac and cheese was just "okay" - I thought the Voodoo with ghost pepper cheese was great. My only complaint would be that it was lacking much meat. They seemed to have a pretty good selection of beers; everyone at my table got something different and they seemed to have something everyone liked, which is sometimes hard in our group. read more

This is one of theose restaurant where we had one perfect meal, have told lots of people how great the food is, and have yet to have another one since. Not bad, just more on the side of okay to decent. The perfect medium rare burger of our first visit is only a memory. Burgers I order seem to come out well done. Fries seem to not be as crisp with each visit. I would definitely not recommend ordering to-go. I did that on my last visit. Food did not travel well. Either way a Veggie Burger shouldn't have meat on it. Four of us went there to try it. Two got two diff Veggie Burgers that had real bacon on them. Everyone thought it was plant based Bacon, nope the real deal. One got a Mac and Cheese that was bad and one got a salad. None of use liked our food. The pretzel sticks were good though. We love this spot on the West Side of Cincinnati. They have a great selection of rotating taps, but keep Kentucky Bourbon Barrel always on tap (one of my favorite beers of all time). The food is consistent and quality. I tend to order a salad with my meals and the side salad is huge - a meal in and of itself. The burgers are creative and generous in portion size, so if you're not a big eater, they are great for sharing. One of my favorite appetizers is the Hanky Pankys. They're so good and pair well with craft beer. On most any night of the week, you can grab a spot at the bar for two without a problem. Weekends tend to be a bit busy, but they can accommodate a group of 4 pretty quickly. If you have a larger group, know ahead of time that there are limited tables for large groups, so you might want to have a plan B before getting a large group together here - or split across a couple tables. read more

I saw the Chuck Norris burger that would have been right up my ally by it was lacking the heat I was hoping for and the burger itself was just ok. I went back another time because I saw a ham sandwich that I assumed was like a deli sandwich and it was cooked sliced hot ham that I was so not ready for especially with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. Had I known that, I would have not ordered it. The food in my mind was ok. I've been to this location a few times - back when local theatre groups were still in person. My most recent visit was last weekend with my dad (his first time!). I was craving mac & cheese and we were in the area so I talked my dad into giving this place a try. We stopped by here for a late lunch and I was worried they might not have been opened as the hours on the door were not accurate. We saw people inside so we tried the door and it was open! We were seated at a booth by the bar nearest the TVs and ordered drinks right away. I docked a star because it did take a while for us to get our food ordered. Several groups of people came in after us and they had ordered before we did. We were not in a hurry, but we were hungry! As I said above, I had been here before so I knew I was getting the Mac & Cheese - I ended up ordering the West Side Mac (BBQ sauce, chicken, and bacon!). My dad being a first-timer was just chuckling at the naming conventions for all the food items! He took forever to pick something. He kept tossing between a burger and the Philly Cheese Steak Mac. I ended up talking him into getting the Mac because you can get a burger anywhere! Once we ordered and our food arrived, everything was in disposable dishes for safety and easy cleanup. We dived right into the Mac. My West Side Mac had a sweet flavor to it and was so delicious! My only complaint was that the bacon pieces were really hard and I hurt my tooth when I bit into one. My dad absolutely loved his Philly Mac! Perfect portion sizes for a great price! I definitely recommend stopping by here and getting some Mac & Cheese! read more

Not that this matters but I came in with some friends to enjoy and have a good time. Yet I did enjoy the company but the service was subpar and the menu prices are not as advertised. I asked what came on the Philly fries and was told the said items but when I get my check there was pretty much a charge for 4.00 extra dollars for onions and mushrooms. I was told it was extra for those items. So what did the philly fries come with??? So over all very highly disappointed that I was not told about the upcharge and there was no manager on site so everything was left up to a new 22 year old new bartender Emily to say pretty much nothing and just shrugged her shoulders and that was it.
