Popped in for a burger and beer and was very happy w/ everything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had just opened, so the vibe inside was super mellow and the bartender and server were super attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] People were starting to filter in as I was leaving and every interaction I witnessed seemed genuine and warm. I would stop in again, for sure!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Tavern on Jane seems like quite a popular place with a friendly and fun ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really enjoyed chicken tacos. I like the fact that you assemble your own tacos. They bring the tortillas and the rest of the ingredients (beans, protein of choice, guacamole, etc) separately. Make it your own style. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have crayons on the table and the table cloth is paper, so you can draw and have fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Turkey burger is disgustingggg. The fries were solid and good service. My friends got a regular burger and thought it was pretty good.

    Fun at the table!

Tavern on Jane is an absolute gem! It is a charming, rustic spot tucked away in the West Village. It's warm and inviting with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The food is nothing short of exceptional! The menu has an array of mouthwatering dishes. We tried the Jane Street Burger and the Grilled Steak Sandwich- unbelievable!! Can't forget to mention the freshness of their ingredients brings a scrumptious aroma to the table as you're served. We were not disappointed! To add a little fun to your dining experience they also provide crayons and a paper sheet atop the table!

The food here was subpar at best. It was decently priced for New York tho. Our waiter did an amazing job with our party! We were a larger party and he was very attentive to us. We got seated in a secluded area away from the rest of the resturant which was nice.

Ideal tavern with a great atmosphere and solid food. For being in the West Village, also not terribly expensive. Always a crowd but with a short wait. Highly recommend.

You're not coming here for gourmet food. You're coming here for the cozy, friendly, gritty, laidback at atmosphere. It's an old school bar/pub, covered in brilliant wood. The bartender greeted me as soon as I walked in. My server was attentive and called me "love," and somehow it didn't bother me. The bartender checked on me a few times as well. I ordered the steak frites, but was actually served the steak sandwich (the price was the same, so I didn't complain). The bread was crispy and well toasted. It's wasn't the most luxurious cut of steak, but they cook it as ordered (I ordered medium). It came with sautéed shallots and was well seasoned. The fries were super hot, crispy, and battered, which tells me this place probably has fish and chips out of this world (it's on the menu). The lunch menu is mainly sandwiches and burgers. A few salads are there too. Dinner menu also has some sandwiches, but also things like pork chops, salmon, pasta, wings, and oysters. I had a mule, which was mediocre and alcohol heavy, but again, you're not coming here for a craft cocktail program.

Food was good. I ordered just chicken wings. Great customer service. This is a typical New York bar. Be quick with your order. Bartender was a little douche. Definitely will come again. Great place for date night or get together.

Came here after working up an appetite helping my friend move into the West Village. It was moderately full, and were given our option of tables. I liked the ambiance of candles and was a huge fan of the paper table clothes and crayons for writing on while waiting for the food. Honestly it made the time fly by, but I think the food actually came out quite fast. The burger was huge and honestly I wondered how to eat it, but decided I would just get my hands (and face) a bit messy. The fries were actually quite amazing with a great tasting batter and a perfect crisp . Sadly the taste of the burger was lacking and it was a bit too dry, otherwise this would've been a home run. A bit pricey so unless the burger was a bit better I probably wouldn't return.

    Kale salad.

I was a big fan of both, especially the ricotta, which was so incredibly creamy. For the mains, everyone's fresh-made pasta was excellent. I ordered the Mexican street corn, which was unique, flavorful, and delicious. I also tried some of the spicy rigatoni and loved it. We ended the night with the s'mores dessert, which was rich and chocolatey. Also, the fact that the restaurant is BYOB is a huge plus! The only downside was that I lost an item during our visit. I had a really hard time finding their contact information online, so I had to go back in person to ask about it, which was a bit annoying. Ultimately, they weren't able to recover it, but the food itself was still outstanding.

I came here with 4 hungry friends, and so we indulged by getting a lot of food and sharing everything family style. For starters we got the whipped ricotta and spicy-ish Caesar salad. They were both delicious but I'd go back just for the salad alone, had a nice kick and sooo much cheese on top, YUM! Main plates: we shared 4 diff pastas. The Mexican street corn, spicy rigatoni, cavatelli, and fettuccini. They were equally good but my favorite was hands down the fettuccini and rigatoni. Everything was so creamy and well seasoned. The ambiance: low moody lighting. Cool plates and attentive and kind service. I'd def recommend for date night with your lover our group of friends.

It was a light, summery appetizer in which the earthiness of the beets was offset beautifully by the bright citrus notes. For the entrees, we got the Truffle Carbonara, Pistachio-Crusted Branzino, and the Hanger Steak. All were exceptionally good! My steak was cooked perfectly to medium-rare, was well-seasoned, and was taken up an extra notch by the delicious peppercorn sauce. The branzino was also a big hit with both people who ordered it. They praised the dish at length, and one person kept going back for more bites even after announcing she was stuffed! Our server was vivacious and happily chatted with us about the many menu options, giving us tips about the most popular dishes not just among customers, but the staff as well. She was great! I definitely recommend having a reservation as they were pretty busy on a Sunday morning. The Cappuccino was well-made, soothing, and gave me a much-needed caffeine kick. We got one sweet & one savory dish because that's the best way to brunch! The Steak & Eggs was surprisingly good! The hanger steak was juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. I had asked for the eggs to be soft scrambled and I felt like they were a touch overcooked but still enjoyable and paired well with the steak. The brunch potatoes could've been way crispier but I did enjoy the peppers & onions mixed it. The French Toast was fantastic. The coconut butter was a nice addition and it was the right sweetness level overall. Good try for brunch!

The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We started with the French onion soup, although it arrived at the same time as our entrees instead of beforehand. Even so, it ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. Rich and flavorful. For my entree, I ordered the steak and eggs. It was decent, but the quality of the steak wasn't quite what I expected. My mom had the chicken salad, which she said was satisfying, and my husband ordered the eggs, ham, toast and French fries, a solid classic breakfast that he enjoyed. We also had a side of bacon that were tasty and crunchy just I liked them. Overall, Elysian Cafe had a cozy neighborhood atmosphere and good service that makes it a pleasant place to spend a.weekend brunch. That said, I found some of the food to be underwhelming. The menu we had was specific to the tasting even but all made by the same everyday chef. The first course was white asparagus with a hollandaise sauce and that was so tender and delicious but light enough that I wasn't full at all. The second course was halibut with risotto and crab and there was so much meatiness. It was my favorite place and the flavors went so well together. Next was grilled oysters and I've never liked oysters but these were amazing! The bacon and breadcrumbs that had a slight lemon flavor went so well with the oysters. Next was lamb loin with stewed white beans and carrots. The lamb was medium rare, I could have skipped the beans but that's me. Dessert was a strawberry Terrine which was full of fresh and authentic strawberry flavor. I would come back and try their normal menu and also do a tasting again as it was delicious and reasonably priced.

There was only one other family dining, and the space stayed empty the entire time. The service was genuinely great. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and a really cute, cozy space. I especially loved the Christmas décor and overall vibe--it felt warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. The house salad was $13 and honestly one of the most basic, smallest, and most boring salads I've ever had--very underwhelming for the cost. We also ordered quesadillas, a cheeseburger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. My son enjoyed the burger and fries, and the quesadillas were flavorful, generously filled with chicken and veggies, and came with sour cream, pico, and guac. The tomato soup was tasty, while the grilled cheese was just okay. One small but appreciated detail: canned soda. Cold, crisp, and not flat which is always a win. Lunch for 3 came in just under $100, which felt high given what we received. One frustration was being seated in a tight corner right next to the kitchen even though the dining room was completely empty. We were so close I could literally see into the kitchen and count items on the shelves. On top of that, the hostess repeatedly walked by calling out "corner," which became distracting and honestly a bit irritating. Overall, I liked the vibe, but the food-to-price ratio missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad--just alright.
