They have really cool clothes, but everything is still very expensive for a thrift store. I found a purple champion crewneck and it was still 42$. I go to thrift stores to get a discount because I can't afford everything at retail price, but I don't feel there is much of a discount. read more

I love coming here when I'm in Cali on vacation. The prices are a bit higher than my fav resale store in Michigan, but that's to be expected. I always leave with something cute. read more

LOVE! Always got to sell and make money and come away with so much great additions to my closet. I love talking labels with them, the raddest staff ever! I adore the owner, Claire, and there's a blonde dude that's always so nice to me as well as a tall blonde girl (hate I can't think of their names) that remember me and make me feel welcome and so warm. No pretension and great merch. Thank you guys!!!!! read more

Very picky on clothes to buy. Even though clothes on rack look outdated . Long wait line to sell.

I went in the other day for the first time and thought it was cool, bought a beanie and a t-shirt. The owner told me to go through my clothes and bring stuff in, I was already going to be going through my clothes so I thought hey why not bring it in, I have a lot of nice things. Brought probably 50 or so pieces (shirts, sweaters, jackets, pants and shoes) consisting of gap, vans, billiabong and volcom to name a few, which those are three brands they have listed on their yelp page "Some of the Labels We Looking for: Free People, OBEY, JCREW, Gap, American Eagle, Coach, Anthropologie, Aldo, Billabong, Vans, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Volcom, Hudson, Seven for all mankind, Steve Madden, Matix, John Varvatos, All Saints, and Levi's". So what does she pick? A 6 year old sweater from delias, 7 year old top siders and an old jacket I got at a thrift store a couple months ago. Grand total 13 bucks. As she quickly looked through my stuff she said "good brands, just old" well most of the stuff was bought last year and anyway everything looks current. I understand they want certain things cos it needs to sell but if they're going to be super picky then the business is going to fail. They obviously don't know a lot of name brands either like super dry, Chinese laundry, and sanuk. She told me to bring back a pair of havaianas sandals in summer.... Yeah I'm going to keep these so I can come back and make a dollar off of them. My mom had a similar experience lots of good name brands too, luckily there was another girl helping the owner and had to keep talking her into to buying stuff. I really wanted to get my clothes back but oh well hopefully it will make someone else happy. Either way I was going to be giving this stuff away, not like I need the money. She just made me feel stupid and uncomfortable during the process. It was a complete waste of time. Bottom line I will never go back nor will I tell people about this glorified thrift store. I dont quit understand the concept of the store, you're either a vintage store selling unique stuff from someones closet or you can just go to tj maxx across the street to get the same prices for the brands shes looking for. Just go help out the goodwill and buy something better there. read more

Had the best experience the past two days selling clothes to these lovely people. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. This place is far better than buffalo exchange and I highly recommend coming here instead. If I wasn't moving, I would have bought lots of things here because their selection is very on trend and in wonderful condition. Check them out and support their local business :) read more

While seemingly helpful, don't try to bring anything back to this store. The workers were very unreceptive and if I could give it a 0, I would. I will never be shopping here again, EVER. read more

Don't waste your time attempting to sell your used clothes here. Chances are, you will walk out without even enough money to buy lunch. You're better off tossing them in a trash bag and setting them on your porch. Give them to someone in need, rather. read more

Going to keep this short! This is a review for selling. Had a pleasant experience for my first visit here. They are very helpful here and I prefer this store more than Buffalo Exchange on 2nd street. My boyfriend and I went to Buffalo Exchange to sell clothes, but I wish we had went here first! At Buffalo they only took one item for about $3. At Tattered they took three items and we walked out with about $20. Way more helpful, pleasant, and not stuck up here! I will definitely be coming back. read more

I'm giving this shop 3-stars, because you can find a couple of nice items per visit..... Their clothing selection-process seems quite random, however---and I think the store could do a much better job curating their racks (there were lots of old F-21, H&M, Target brands that really were not attractive)......... I was confused, because the buyers turned down some great-quality, stylish stuff I brought in (Lacoste, Pour la Victoire, Enzo Anglioni, Boss, Hilfiger, Ischiko......)........ I took my items to Fillmore & 5th on 2nd Street, and they sold right away....... I think the girls who are the buyers may gravitate more towards purchasing clothes that are their own personal aesthetic (hipster, edgy)---I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in a lot of their own items & their friends items in a disproportionate-amount....... It is fine to go for an overall-vibe, I just wish the store did a better job at curating classic pieces & did a better job at recognizing quality items that are from mid-level or more obscure high-end designers (not all quality, expensive pieces are Gucci, Burberry, DVF---there's a whole world out there beyond the big-name labels!!) If you have quality mid-level pieces or more obscure high-end pieces, I definitely suggest taking them to Fillmore & 5th...... I also suggest shopping at Fillmore & 5th if you are looking for great pieces or specific labels, as they have a much better selection!! read more

Only want high end labels very snobby and not friendly unless your a size 2 and a really lame hipster!! Sorry won't be shopping there or selling there anytime soon, partly because I don't have prada d&g or banana or black White House or vintage which they won't take anyways because I had vintage addiads sneakers from Spain no good! And shopping yeah not my speed I will up my lame clothes some where else! I know they will do ok for a while! Because that area is known for a little bit of money and people love to think they have found a hidden gem good luck ! But they might not take that because it is not high end label enough for them! please don't say your looking for spring clothes, just say your looking to be a repeat boutique for the snobby for not thrift store peeps that don't care about labels! read more

This is much better than Buffalo Exchange, which we still have credit with. For example, I bought a pair of $295 designer jeans possibly unworn, for $38, a pair of like-new Banana Republic slacks (not outlet ones) which are probably $95 retail for $15, and a new designer t-shirt for $7.50. So you have higher brand stuff than Buffalo at very reasonable prices. There isn't a huge wait to trade in stuff either and the clerks act professionally rather than singly or laughing loudly. Hopefully this place can succeed. read more

I have found a few nice items.....but they were pricy. One pair of boots i bought - the first time i wore them they fell apart...im going to try to get them fixed at a shoe place. i went thru some of my stuff that i was sure would sell. This was work dragging a bunch of purses and stuff around is not fun. I was shopping while i waited to see what they wanted to buy and for how much. She came over to me and said."we won't be needing any of it". I was shocked. Compared to the stuff she had for sale ..the things i brought were comparable or better. I don't even think she looked. Guess she was mad I didn't read the list they have outside for specific items. Really......not sure what this girl is thinking. To be honest most of the stuff in the store is.....nothing special. I had to look really hard for the FEW items I purchased and they were over priced. read more

I have sold at pretty much all of the recycled clothing stores in long beach and Costa Mesa and Tattered is by far the best. They give 55% in credit & 40% in cash which is way higher compared to buffalo and crossroads. No matter what I always seem to walk out with cash in my pocket and a new piece to wear. Yes, their staff can seem a bit alternative compared to a consignment store, but that's what makes the store unique. Definitely worth the drive from Orange County to sell. read more

Pros: ..great location--convenient to other shops so it's easy to pop in on while doing other errands ..pretty wide selection of merchandise..many mens' things in comparison to any other shop I've been to in the area ..decent/fair prices Cons: ..little to no customer service. Every time I've been in, nobody offers to help get me a fitting room..or assist with anything really. I've been juggling items to try on and been passed by and ignored..treated like it was my own problem. Meanwhile, in my best attempt to have a peaceful shopping experience, I'm hearing two associates gossip about boys and weekend plans the whole time I'm looking around..trying things on..for over 30 min I can't escape their conversation. I was annoyed and don't care what show or festival they're going to while they ignore my existence. ..many of their things have hidden wear and tear that first of all is not taken into account with the pricing and secondly..aren't things I'd even consider buying or wearing. Pit stains..grease spots that won't wash out..holes. Make sure to double and triple check pieces you're considering. Look at them in different lighting, as this store has poor lighting in most places, including the fitting rooms. ..everything is grouped small/medium/large and no shoes are really sized at all. It makes much of the store difficult to shop and makes it take a long time to find pieces you might want to try on. ..I went while there was a sign posted that summer items were 50% off. There weren't really many sale items left and some seemingly summer items were not included with the sale. Kind of frustrating/misleading advertising. Overall, if I'm not going to be acknowledged as a customer, I'd prefer that they get rid of the immature college student employees so I can at least shop in peace. Turn up the lights so when I get my purchases home, there are no hidden stains or issues with the garments that I finally see in regular lighting. Keep up the trendy stuff--I really do enjoy the variety of unique pieces in this store and most of the time, I appreciate the prices. read more

I'm so glad I found this place...thanks to all the great reviews on yelp! I met the owner, Leah and she was wonderful. They have good quality pieces at good prices & if you plan on selling, this place is a million times better than buffalo exchange. This is definitely a more sophisticated resale shop but still has that cute boutique feel. Looking forward to going back to sell & buy! read more

The store looks awesome. I went in to sell clothes and everyone there was very friendly. They went through my clothes quickly. I would definitely come back again even though its a bit of a drive for me. read more

Great place to shop! You will not be disappointed. I thought because I was a "bigger" girl that they wouldn't have anything! Not true at all!! They had stuff for me too, and not just granny stuff, but good, cute and trendy stuff....check 'em out!!! read more

Just before Christmas, I was strolling around on my lunch break checking out local boutiques. I looked on Yelp and it notified me that this shop had just opened. It wasn't too far from where I was, so I popped in. Glorious sale rack as soon as I walked in! I found Christmas presents in a snap. I snatched up a taupe beenie, a few tee shirts, yknow - for myself. It's a resale shop, so you can trade in items as well. The staff was super friendly and made my experience more enjoyable. I also got 10% off with my purchase with a check in! Woop, thanks Yelp :) read more

Though I have yet to purchase anything from this store, I always come back for the friendly atmosphere and fun shopping experience. The clothes are organized very well, and are priced reasonably. Most are designer label in very, very good condition and the outfits that they dress the mannequins with are fashionable, but not like a pretentious hipster. (Ha ha) I'll be coming here to update my Spring wardrobe! :) read more

I should have read the reviews before I went in. The customer service is extremely poor. My daughter loves this place for the clothes and the prices. I've lost weight so thought I would take a few pieces over. They were just handing me back my stuff when I inquired why which is when I got the explanation. I am very professional in my attire so they weren't interested in my clothes (not trendy enough) which is fine. As I was walking out the 2 cashiers were silent so I said "the least you can do is thank me for coming in". The response was highly insulting and completely unnecessary. That person should be reprimanded for speaking to a customer in that manner. read more

I feel very welcomed here and I think the people complaining below are just poor. These items are heavily discounted and all quality.

This is one of my favorite re sell stores! I come in weekly to see what's new, their selection is just the right size so you don't feel like you're searching forever for something. They also have a great sale rack, always new things being added. Great customer service as well. read more

It was my first time selling my clothes there and they surprisingly took most of what I brought. My sister had a bad experience at Buffalo Exchange so we wanted to find a new place to sell our clothes. This little place was perfect; the staff was super nice and helpful and my sister and I gladly used out store credit to purchase really nice, good quality things. Definitely coming back to sell and to buy. read more

Tattered is sooooo rad. I have shopped here several times and they always have high quality items, sweet deals and friendly staff members.

I've visited Tattered three times now, to browse, sell, and buy, and have nothing but good things to say about the place. The owner is friendly, prices are reasonable, and trade in prices are too. Love the local artists' jewelry - it's fairly priced for local handmade pretties. The clothing is a good mix of fun vintage pieces and contemporary recycled fashion. The store itself is clean and well-organized, and the racks aren't stuffed with a million shabby Target Ts like other recycled clothing retailers. I'm hoping to see this lil new business thrive! read more

Oddly, I had a feeling of vulnerability when presenting my wardrobe for sale. Clothes are a part of us and an expression of who we are. The chic young store manager seemed aware of this. She treated me with gentleness and sensitivity. I love the vibe in this place. read more

I used to sell and shop more at buffalo exchange and crossroads in Santa Monica but after discovering a much closer and better option I only come to tattered to buy and sell. I have found many gems here like a pair of frye boots new in box for $100 and online they were over $200. My selling experiences have been good, never had a bad one, I always get the credit so I can keep on getting awesome things. The owner it's the opposite of the reviews on here, I've gotten to talk to her here and there and she is very sweet, the whole staff it's very helpful and nice. They often have tons of brand name and designers either in excellent condition or new with tag. Check out the jewelry too, so many cute affordable pieces. read more

My sister asked me to sell some of her clothes in order to help out a friend's art therapy class. I understand that some people do not like the buying process. However, I think people need to know Tattered buys in season clothes that cater to their clientele. I came in with some Eileen Fisher and other mature labels and took them back home. They did take the Lululemon and theory that was in season. Of course I would have like more cash, but I was satisfied and thought it was fair. read more

Most of the staff is pretty nice and helpful (there are a couple with attitudes). Other than that, they have a pretty decent selection. I have found some nice things for work here and some great shoes. read more

Went in here to sell for the 2nd time and I received the same service as before...no acknowledgement or at least a nod letting me know that they'll be right with me. I understand that they were busy with a client, but more like busy trying to fix a mistake made by a new buyer. I sat and waited for almost 20minutes. So disorganized and slow! Anyway, needless to say, I will not be back here anytime soon to shop or sell. read more

My wife & I had a few nice stuff laying around, turned them into cash. I like the Tattered concept very much. Good customer service, the owner was friendly, affordable prices and a nice selection of clothing, my wife & sister-in-law enjoyed shopping there. Leah, the owner, supports the community (my referral advised me). overall i can say that it was a cool atmosphere. Thanks Guy, we will be back read more

Nice place, nice people.. Definitely a cool place yo treasure hunt. If you're gonna sell, call ahead and check what they're looking for so you don't waste time carrying a ton of stuff that's gonna be rejected. Ladies, they don't take Forever 21 clothes. read more

Called tattered as I'm 99% sure I left an item there or it was misplaced when they were going through my items I was trying to sell. I came home and one of my dresses was missing, so naturally I call them. The woman who answered didn't ask for a description (though I gave her one) nor did she bother to ask one of her other co workers or even ask for my information IF and when the dress shows up. Customer service is no Bueno. read more

This place is small but well curated. The girls working at the front were polite and professional and I was able to sell a pair of shorts for $5 that were very vintage/weird/funky. All my other things (I had two bags) were a bit off season since they were looking for fall stuff right now, so hit the time wrong. They did say that a lot of stuff was great but off-season, so good to know for the future since I'd never sold to a vintage place before. Overall, they took something that Buffalo Exchange had rejected, so cool! I got a cute shirt with my proceeds. Not bad:) read more

I stop in often, since it's got a great location (Trader Joe's, Big Lots and Target are all a quick walk away). I usually end up buying something. The store is well organized and the prices are reasonable, especially for name brand jeans. I found a great leather jacket here for $35 that fits like a dream and makes this middle aged lady look bad ass! :) I didn't give 5 stars because in addition to the resale stuff they also carry new items, which are generally not on a par with the recycled things and seem a bit overpriced. Also, their fitting rooms are a little ratchet, with curtains that don't close well. Minor points, however, and overall this is a "don't miss" place if you're in the neighborhood and like to thrift. read more

Cool little local shop with a great selection of clothes. Easy parking. Not sure why there are people complaining about the pricing. I think that it is very fair considering the full retail prices of those items. If you think that this store overpriceses things then you must have not visited a mall in a while. This isn't a goodwill. The staff is friendly and helpful. Music is always on point. I would recommend people to go here instead of buffalo exchange. read more

I took in 2 bags of a lot of stuff and walked out with them only buying one thing. I was a little disappointed with that as a seller but appreciate it as a buyer. They are a smaller location so they are selective with what they buy to keep the store caught up with the current season. They do modern clothing as well as a vintage section, they also have men and women clothing. This is the place to go if you're looking for a variety of choices, good prices, and something a little different. read more

I think they are more lenient when it comes to selling guys clothes. Generally when I browse their guys rack, most of the jeans sizes are way too big (eg 32 and ups) so when I sell my clothes, they most likely take 70% of items that I brought in because my sizes are 30, 29 depends on brands. As a buyer though, I think the prices are reasonable compare to other trendy thrift stores such as Adidas shoes. I don't mind if they don't come up to me and ask how I'm doing cause I'm already going gaga. I want to do my thang. Ok? Haha read more
