Fun fun fun... Another amazing store that literally carries everything. It can be a bit overwhelming when you walk in but your eyes will get adjusted...lol... This place has loads and I mean loads of fun hidden jewels. There's so much items in stock that you literally have to spend some time here. You will literally want everything that you see. The selection of clothing from all sorts of era. You have fun theme items which theres loads. Of course they can be a daily wear item. The vintage collection is top notch. All the decors throughout the stores are fun. Vintage mannequin heads, the dressing rooms doors made of old vintage refrigerator doors, they were great. There's a huge selection of vintage jewelry on displays as well as loads of fun sunglasses. Beside the clothes, the vintage signs which I assume are display were fun. The plus is that there is a lot to choose from in this thrift shop. The minus is that it is hard to shop because the racks are jam packed too tight and I hate that because when you try to pull one thing out five other things come jumping off the rack. The other negative is that they are a bit over priced for what they have so I ended up not purchasing anything here. The customer service was nice , they have a great selection of vintage clothing and I like how they title what era the clothing is from, it's a bit pricey . My son absolutely wanted this one shirt looked about $10 but it was $90 for a shirt I know would have sold way cheaper at a donation place but the store had the cutest dressing room doors . Did you know if you walk in and don't look like the expected regulars then you'll have eyes on you the second you walk in, and that even if you ask them with a smile to use the fitting room they still will look at you like you shouldn't be there and when you leave and say goodbye and thank you they will chase you down the street and GRAB YOUR HOODIE to accuse you of stealing a 5 dollar hair clip from a store I've shopped at since I was a teenager that I've sent countless people to over the years. read more

The good: This vintage shop has a ton of cool vintage clothing for both men and women. They also have a lot of shoes and accessories like ties, jewelry, sunglasses, hats, belts and more. I had so much fun looking through all of the cool graphic t-shirts. The place is very well organized. The graphic t-shirts are separated from the polos, vests, button-ups, etc. The best part about this place is how their price tags tell you the decade that the item is from. I don't know if it's just their best estimate/guess or if they look into the brand/production history, etc. The items I saw were mostly from the 60s-80s. It's spooky season so this is a great spot to come get items for decade-related Halloween costumes. The bad: Everything is pretty pricey. I know some folks are willing to pay a pretty penny for authentic vintage gear so this is your place is you're looking for a unique and authentic souvenir from the past. This store is amazing! It's Jam-packed with vintage clothes, sunglasses and regular frames, cards and postcards, shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, and so much more. The staff member behind the counter was incredibly sweet. They heard my young daughter asking for a locket, and while I scanned the cases, they found one and presented it to me to make sure it was okay. Then they gave her a special box to protect her necklace, which she thought was so wonderful. Customer service and available selection are both five stars, and we would/will definitely return. First time browsing here was a great experience. Didn't end up buying anything, but loved how many items there were to look through and appreciated how kind/positive all of the workers were. I've been followed around stores and felt pressured into making purchases around the Long Beach/LA area before, so it was refreshing to get some space while shopping and be treated like a friend. There were sections dedicated to vintage lingerie, button up tops, short sleeves, dresses, jackets, sweaters, denim, shoes and more. Also enjoyed the music that was playing which is always a plus! I came here looking for some vintage clothing to add perfectly to my Halloween costume. I went a little bit overboard because I absolutely loved everything that I saw! We bought vintage jackets, boots and some fun buttons to go along with our costumes and let me tell you these things are authentic! You're going to be paying a little bit for the Vintage aspect. Everything looks and wears nicely though! The lady that helped us out was really helpful and she found everything in the sizes that we were looking for. I got a weird vibe there. "Cooler than thou" store clerks that gave me the stink eye and immediately put me in a really bad shopping mood. Not even a "hello" guys? The woman there breezed by me several times ignoring my existence. Maybe I'm just not "cool" enough for you to acknowledge my existence or I wasn't dressed "rockabilly" enough to be allowed proper recognition. Okay, fine. I kind of felt like shouting "Doesn't anyone want my money?!!!" The racks were a little too packed for my taste. That's how stuff gets damaged. And my arms get tired shoving things around. Flipping through the dresses made me feel like I was going through circa 1970s Dolly Parton's costume wardrobe. Despite seeing several really cute things I liked, I refused to buy them because of the crappy mood this store was putting me in. I prefer to buy things from people who say "Hello" to me when entering their place of business rather than being greeted by a look of complete and utter disdain for my existence. The shops on Retro Row kind of peeve me off. Doubt I'll be back anytime soon. I'm a vintage dealer and I've run several vintage shops in the past and I would never imagine being so rude to people who might want to spend money, or heaven forbid want to actually RETURN to shop again. The idea of vintage clothing really does it for me, but in practice? Well, I'm more of a wash n' wear kinda gal and vintage is just too damn high-maintenance for my liking. But, I guess because I like to torture myself or dream that I live in a world of tumble dry vintage dresses I've been to Meow a thousand times. I'm mostly a looky loo, but I really do like how the store is organized and compared to some other vintage shops the prices seem pretty reasonable. I generally only buy accessories or costumes here. And let me tell you, they've got their shit together when it comes to costumes. The staff is super helpful at helping you find items for your party whether it be Ugly Sweater or Carnie Chic - they've got you covered. Now that I think about it... the reason I go in here so much is probably to marvel at the giant Steak-O-Rama neon sign and reminisce about days of yore with cheap steak and potato lunches. ...and then walk down the street to eat at Lola's. read more

Stepping into Meow is truly like transporting back to a time when women actually cared about being impeccably coiffed to go to the market, and highballs at noon were perfectly acceptable. For those that expect to go in and find pristine pieces but want to pay Goodwill prices, they are deluded. This is a vintage store, which specifically buys and hand selects each item based on their period, quality, and worth. Consider them investment pieces that will carry on for another fifty years. Really, if you're looking for vintage pieces at thrift store prices, by all means, try your luck at a thrift store. Back in my strict retro-styling days, Meow was one of the stores that I would visit frequently. I have always found the prices to be fair and appropriate. Again, anyone who complains of the "inflation" does not understand vintage fashion, and is merely trying to fulfill some faddish look. To which I say "laaaame". I have yet to come across a vintage store that contains as much deadstock (never worn, never sold items, originally produced in its era) as Meow. It's pretty amazing, actually, how much time and care owner Kathleen puts forth in finding the items that she does. They are truly unique and worthwhile purchases. The clothing, shoes, and accessories are well organized yet displayed in a creative way. The clothing is also steamed and ready-to-wear, which is a pretty thoughtful and professional way to present/sell the items. Shopping at Meow is very much how I would imagine shopping back in the day would look and feel like. It's fun, and almost indulgent. Lastly, props go to my girl J Martin who mans the Meow on weekends. She's a sweet gal with an even sweeter style. If anyone knows anything about fashion, especially vintage fashion, it would be her. I have to agree with other yelpers, the associates at the store couldn't even manage to say hi or smile to acknowledge mine and my friend's existence. I was there yesterday and I found a pair of gold ankle boots that I absolutely loved. They were $40 but they were in good condition and I figured it's best to give my money to an independent business anyway. I wore them for literally less than an hour, during my drive from home to school and they immediately started falling apart. I know that their items are final sale so I didn't even bother asking for store credit because I already know what their answer is gonna be. VERY COOL GLITTERY BLUE SEATS INSIDE AND THAT'S ABOUT THE ONLY GOOD THING. Employees (white lady & a black guy) were cold, my friend and I greeted them and they didn't even say "Hi" back or anything. Don't know if it's because we're teenage girls, but according to previous reviews, they're just plain old rude people. Overpriced stuff, I bought a small ring for $6, I just really liked it. Tried testing out the employees to see if they would like us more after buying something with a good-hearted "Have a nice day!" and once again got no response back. I must've missed something... I didn't really see much of a difference between the prices here and those at the other stores on 4th. And the quality here is top-notch, "deadstock" or otherwise. I think Meow takes the prize for variety and selection as well. While Christina S. is spot-on about there being much better deals on similar items at the Rose Bowl flea market, part of what you're paying for is the experience- a comfortable store, clothing that has already been cleaned and doesn't require as much inspection, nice fitting rooms for trying on, not to mention the limitations of the Rose Bowl- it's a bit of a trek for some, and only there once a month! Meow separates most items by era, and there are tons of handbags, unique jewelry, and vintage eyeglass frames- in general, a larger offering of accessories than the other shops on 4th. I really really liked this store, it just didn't have what I was shopping for. I came looking for a '60's cocktail dress and I found a lot of other stuff, just not quite right for what I needed. The dressing rooms and decor here are AMAZING, and it's worth a visit just to see them. The best part of this place is that each of their tags are labeled with the decade they're from-- so if you're looking for something specific, you need only to look at the tag without even so much as eyeballing the racks. The owner is a fun person who collected her opening stock for years while waitressing and dreaming of her own store. She shops flea markets and swap meets regularly and the stock is ever changing. The only true vintage store on the block. The other ones don't value vintage and are cluttered with gaudy 90s and 2000's items or sell bootleg band and Harley tees. It is very well curated with a great assortment of deadstock denim and by far the biggest collection I've seen in stores of 1950s denim + side zips. An admirable collection of work wear advertisements adorn the walls and a collection of Buddy Lee advertisement dolls was particularly delightful to see and assured me right away that i wouldn't be finding a better vintage shop in a 50 mile radius. I bought vintage glasses frames here for a very affordable $48 (less than any frames at Costco or Target cost). I love them, and get lots of compliments on them. What's more, the staff at Meow was incredibly nice and helpful, even when I took forever trying on frames and hemming and hawing over which ones to buy. I've been here several times since, and I've always found the staff to be really friendly, the atmosphere to be nice, and the prices to be reasonable. Of all the vintage shops on "Retro Row", this one is the best. It's been there so long I remember buying stuff as a kid. They have lots of clothes, jewelry, and shoes. Some of the vintage stuff has never been worn, with the old tags still on it. So people keep complaining that Retro Row is over priced, and I guess people don't realize that these are not your regular good ol' thrift stores like Goodwill of Salvation Army...these are VINTAGE STORES! They have cut out the hunting that you would normally do for a cute vintage skirt and have put a ton of vintage skirts in one place! I personally LOVE Meow over the other shops, their prices are reasonable for the quality/make/era and they are actually one of a kind VINTAGE pieces not just mass produced vintage look-a-likes. The last time I picked up a pair of new/old tiki pants that I couldn't believe we're even made in the 60s let alone still exists new. I started and built a substantial 1940s tie collection when Kathleen, the owner introduced me to Dr. Ron Spark, the guy who wrote the original book on vintage ties.
