They are a smaller location so they are selective with what they buy to keep the store caught up with the current season. I think they are more lenient when it comes to selling guys clothes. Generally when I browse their guys rack, most of the jeans sizes are way too big (eg 32 and ups) so when I sell my clothes, they most likely take 70% of items that I brought in because my sizes are 30, 29 depends on brands. As a buyer though, I think the prices are reasonable compare to other trendy thrift stores such as Adidas shoes. Two months back I sold a raw denim jacket for store credit. The lady said she put the store credit under my account for future purchase(s). I was puzzled when I wasn't given a receipt as proof of the transaction. During my next visit I decided to purchase an $8 jacket for my younger brother. The young blonde cashier told me my account had zero store credit but she remembers me coming in and selling my jacket. I very kindly explained myself and that this was the second time it's happened. Then she said, "Well, there's nothing I can do," and then printed me a blank receipt for the $8 jacket and said, "Bye. Have a good one." I've been an avid shopper at Tattered since they first opened, but I doubt I'll be returning. read more

A definite fan. I stopped by today on a whim. Definitely the most organized thrift store I've ever been too with most clothing separated by size. They try to keep trendy/name-brand clothing in stock so theres a certain aesthetic here. Some of the pieces can be quite pricey for what they're worth, but I'm sure theres something here that you'll love. read more

Great prices, good quality items. All shoes and purses were in really nice shape. I purchased 4 sweaters, a T-shirt and a pair of jeans all for $90!! Everything I found was under $15 which is such a steal compared to other vintage stores on "retro row." It was worth the short drive away from downtown. read more

The girls attitudes in this store is just awful. I think the owner "Leah" is the worst out of all of them. She doesn't greet you as soon as you come through the door and doesn't even acknowledge you, theres another girl named Claire and she as well has a little attitude. I hate the customer service they give in this place. Its non existent. Way to make your customers feel unimportant. Not to mention they're extremely picky with what they buy. Ive brought in clothing in great conditions from brandy melville, urban outfitters, nordstrom, topshop, etc., and not ONCE have they bought a single thing off me... Yet they have clothes with holes in them and stains that they dont see when they buy off other people, priced really high and only willing to give a 10 % discount. Every time I go in there to sell, I end up taking a few more pieces home with me because of they give you a good amount of trade $$ for your items. Yelp says they open @ 11am everyday. Showed up at 11:06 and they weren't open, no lights on. Tried calling twice, no answer. Walked back to my car to find another consignment store as this was my first time trying Tattered, I had some time to kill, and wanted to shop. I drove past one last time around 1130 and saw lights on. I parked again and then walked up to the door just as the lady was opening (30 min late). I stayed there for about 30 minutes accumulating a large pile of clothes (other customers showed up and also started carrying around piles) and the Tattered employee stayed at the cashier stand the entire time texting on her phone. Didn't offer any of us a room or to hold our stuff while piles started building on our arms. She didn't assist with dressing rooms, a clothing limit wasn't apparent - which can be good or bad. I chose a few items to purchase and went up to the counter. She was still texting and had to move the window cleaning products off the counter. I don't like leaving bad reviews, and the items in Tattered were good, but customer service is important and I didn't get the feeling that Tattered holds customer service at a high standard or expectation. read more

The owner is rude and rips people off. They say they give you 40% of the money that they would price the item, but as soon as you turn your back they will price the item for more money. I would give this place zero stars if possible. Some things are cute and reasonably priced. But I would rather buy a new designer purse at TJ Max instead of buying a used one from here since they are about the same price. I wouldn't recommend trying to sell your clothes here, might as well donate them and get a tax receipt. read more

This review is strictly for selling items only, not on the items they carry as a store (I only came in to sell, not to buy). I came in today hoping that they would take something from a giant plastic black drawstring bag of clothes I had. Quiet a few of my items consisted of things that were on their list: fall/winter items, accompanied by a few other random things that I didn't expect would sell. The brands of the clothes I had were: American Eagle, American Apparel, Gap, Hollister Co., a few vintage pieces, and some random brands that I am not sure of. I thought they would at least take the nice denim I had brought in considering they were all new. They took NOTHING from my giant bag that I drug in. I am shocked. Whenever I go to Buffalo (on 2nd.) they always take at least 4 or so items--I have never left without receiving a bit of cash. I waited about 10 minutes before anyone said hello or acknowledged that I was there and was going to be helped. Very awkward business and very picky! read more

So, my boyfriend tells me this morning that he has an ugly sweater Christmas party tomorrow for work. I figured it would be a piece of cake to find something. SIX thrift stores later, I was ready to give up. Then on my way to Target, I noticed a little store I had never seen before. I also noticed Christmas sweaters in the window! I rushed over and they had an entire rack of ugly Christmas sweaters ($14-$20). I was beyond excited to find one and also excited to find a new used clothes store. I browsed for awhile and will definitely be back. A great mix of cute, hipster ish clothes & designer labels. Some of the high end stuff is a bit expensive but there were some great prices to be found. I was bummed that their scarves, which were pretty basic, were $11 (way too expensive!!). But I saw some super cute sweaters, shoes, and tops for great prices. They were also having a sale on select items (50% off). It's much smaller then buffalo exchange (who NEVER buys my stuff) so I think I might sell some clothes here too. I will definitely be back!! read more

I have been coming to Tattered since they opened there location. When I first started buying/selling my clothes here all was well. They would take nearly all of my items I would bring in. The clothes were from brands such as LF, Nasty Gal, Free People, etc. the good brands you know? When i brought in bags of clothes today. I was denied all of them, except for one shirt. They denied tons of vintage, and shirts and pants that costed over a hundred dollars. Im no longer coming to this store, and no longer giving them any of my items especially if they aren't being priced correctly. The owner is rude and catty. She clearly has no taste, or knowledge of what people want. Or maybe they are going out of business and can't afford to buy all this and still give you credit.. Anyway.. Very disappointed. read more

I used to go to this store all the time when I lived in Long Beach and still would make the trip since i moved to Orange County. Today 6/27 on my way to sell and pick up a shirt I put on hold in the morning, I called to tell Kristen I was stuck in traffic and would be there a couple minutes after 7 when they stop buying. I asked her if she would still be able to look at my stuff she said "mmm hurry" if she had just said no I would have turned around and probably never come back but she didn't, she let me continue my trip. I arrived at 7:02 with one bag and she said sorry I'm too busy and it's policy so I pleaded with her telling her I came from Orange County can you please look at my stuff... I knew it was policy that's why I called. It's not worth the drive not that good of stuff. read more

We typically have a great experience here but today was a major disappointment. The owner whom we have sold to countless times kept telling us she would help us in "20" minutes. 60 minutes later she let us know that she would not be able to help us for the rest of the day. The thing that irritated me the most was that she was on the phone the entire time and couldn't take two minutes to let us know. Super bummed. We will never come back. I've only sold here. Compared to the other consignment shops (Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads, Plato's) I've had the best experiences here. They're pretty picky on brands and style but the shop is on the smaller side. I always call ahead to check the wait and have never had to wait more than 10 minutes.
