Me and my family didn't even get to eat here! The blonde hostess wasn't even friendly, she came off rude! I'm not sure how she even managed to get that job she didn't even look like she wanted to be there. We ended walking out and finding another place! read more

Place an order for delivery. Expected delivery of an hour. 45 minutes later, restaurant calls to tell me that it will be another 45 minutes because they don't have a driver. Asked them how can they offer a service if they don't have a delivery driver. Apparently they use a delivery service and there was no drivers available.Told them not acceptable and to cancel my order. Was then informed the they can't cancel my order because there is no one there that would be able to process the cancellation. Asked to speak to the manager, no manager on duty. Asked that they contact someone who has the passcode to process the return and call me back. 10 minutes later, calls back to tell me that they can't cancel the order because I placed it online through their website. So basically couldn't deliver my food and unwilling to process return. Permanently lost a loyal customer for the past 5 years read more

Tried to do an online take-out order. Time of close was not until 10pm and we tried to make an order at 9pm. The lady who answered the phone was extremely rude when we tried to make our order and make a few adjustments to it. Then proceeded to tell us it was too late to make an order when we tried to make the adjustments. Very disappointed in this service. read more

Rude staff!when we requested a adjacent table the staff who seated us told us in a rude tone of voice to wait outside. I didn't complain at the request of my daughter daughter. sushi was good though.I would never go back to Tatemono restaurant in Whitby. Sacha. read more

Ae visited your whitby location and It was one of the most horrible experiences! The servers were rude, and slow. The sushi was warm, chewy and old tasting. They brought us food we didn't even order and have an extra charge for any food we donr finish. Instead of going to the movies that we had already bought tickets to we spent the evening in the bathroom. read more

Very good. It is fun to order with an ipad . All you can eat sushi is not always good but it is here. Good, fast service and excellent food for the price. read more

Tatemono is much better than their restaurant in Oshawa (Kakemono). The food was hot and delicious, and service was very good. The only disappointment was that they were a bit slow at times, which was because it was a bit busy and they are newly opened. Will definitely come again. read more

Worst delivery and customer service of any restaurant I've ever ordered from. Website quoted 1 hour for delivery (address is 5 min drive from restaurant). 2 hours later and ended up having to pick up my delivery order Food was cold after sitting on the counter. Manager Vincent refused to cancel the order or credit the card, made absolutely no attempt to remedy the situation. The least he could do was offer a free dish or apply a credit to salvage the restaurant's reputation. Nothing. Will never eat here again. This is the second time the delivery was deplorable. Gave them a second chance, despite my better judgement. Won't make that mistake again. Wanted to give a 0 rating, but had to choose something. read more

Probably one of my favorite all you can eat sushi places in N.A. I come here every time I'm in the Whitby area and the fish always tastes fresh and the sushi is well prepared. They have a good selection of apps, entrees, soups, etc. I believe they have 4 restaurants in the Toronto area and they all seem to follow the same concept. The only complain with this place is that the staff can be okay. They're running around trying to deliver the orders to the table and sometimes you don't get much attention, but overall it's fine. read more

So we happened to be nearby, I looked up what was close and chose this place. It's in a plaza that looks to be pretty much only other restaurants, so I figured it must be good to be able to keep up with the competition. We went in and were surprised by the very elegant and tastefully appointed decor! If you wanted to impress a date (who'd never know it was AYCE), bring her here! The price was right, we were seated at an elegant booth, the server left us with an ipad to order. We chose our food and entered it and waited. And waited....I finally asked what the delay was and unfortunately, we hadn't been told that after we submit our order, we have to summon the server to send it into the kitchen. She quickly did so and our fresh, hot, made-to-order food came quickly. Tastefully displayed, flavourful and excellent service (apart from previously mentioned oversight)! The bathrooms are GORGEOUS! This place is a hidden gem. I wish there was one closer to the city. It's nice to go to an AYCE place and not feel like you're being served in a hectic gymnasium. We had the mushrooms (really good), tempura shrimp (also good), beef skewers (ditto), yam sushi and a few other dishes. This is a good system, food arrives fresh and hot and unlike other AYCE restaurants, you don't end up getting things you didn't order/orders from other tables. I want to go back here soon! Very satisfying experience! read more

Good ambience for families and groups. Good menu and options to find. Fresh sashimi and short list of desserts.

Good food and surprisingly good prices for something in the AMC plaza. The wait staff has been a little too eager every time i've been here--snatching empty plates and refilling water voraciously. If you like that kind of prompt service; then definitely check it out! If you are looking to have a private conversation, you may want to look elsewhere. The interior decor (and washrooms) is gorgeous. read more

Mango crab roll is very sour and there's lots of hard mango fibers in it. Mango salad looks pitiful. Peppered beef is kinda tough to chew. No menu for dessert. Disappointing compared to other AYCE places. read more

This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a sushi restaurant. The food was disgusting and I'm being kind in that description. I have never had worse tasting food in my entire life. The sushi was warm and chewy, it had a smell to it as if it had been sitting out all day. The appitizers were lacking in flavour and also tasted old. The service was horrible, my friends and I recieved many dirty looks when we asked any questions to our server and it was slow. The worst part is food made my friends and sick. read more

Now Makimono...still overpriced and poor service. Cost $136 for dinner for 3 (me and my 2 teenage kids) on a Wednesday nite. When i asked the waiter cost of the extra leftover sushi, he said $15. Then I asked for a reduced price for less.food, he rudely repeated $15 because we didn't finish all the food we ordered! I was surprised as this had never been imposed by prior owners. No signs, no notice, no one to tell us. I am also convinced they brought more food than we ordered. We will not go back. read more

Went here for lunch on a holiday and was easily the worst experience I have had at any restaurant. That's being said I am surprised they have ever passed a health inspection. Firstly we found a silverfish in our plate with the sushi and second their was hair in the ice cream and when we told the manager Vincent about it he implied several times that we had put the hair there and did not apologize ONCE. And when asked about the insect on the plate he says that there is always a chance of that's happening because they order the fish fresh. So instead of apologizing Vincent decided to make excuse and when I asked why he is making excuses he said he is stating facts. Terrible customer service Server kept on cutting out order short Not worth the price read more

Went here for the first time on a Wednesday for lunch before watching a movie. Price is comparable to other AYCE sushi places. Sushi and dumplings were really tasty. Staff was really nice and accommodating. I have no real complaints about my experience here and will return the next time I go watch a movie. read more

I fell in LOVE with this place a few months ago while out with friends. I always get asked to go for sushi and I am not particularly a fan of sushi. What I like about this place is not only that it is auce (all you can eat) but that they offer a variety of other items on their menu. Now I am able to "go out for sushi" and still find dishes I like to eat. The food is always hot and fresh. I have only ever been for lunch and the price is very reasonable. read more

This is the best sushi place in the Oshawa area! However, they are also the most expensive. My wife and I always tried to come here for their lunch specials (soooo much cheaper than their normal menu and all-you-can-eat plus you will get some leftovers). When we'd come here for dinner, we'd order the General Tao's Chicken along with a few rolls (Mountain Roll, Spicy Crab, and either the Spicy Butterfish or Spicy Tuna). General Tao's chicken is the best we've had anywhere, the mountain roll is an amazing and incredibly filling roll (you could probably just that and have it as your meal), and the spicy sauce they use is the best around. As others have said, this place is part of the "-mono" chain of sushi restaurants (Makimono and Kakemono being the others). We never managed to make it to Makimono before moving out of the area, but Tatemono WAS better than Kakemono. It was the little things that made the difference like the tempura sauce at Tatemono is better and the rolls seemed to be a bit more packed. All in all, Tatemono is a great place and any sushi lover should be excited to eat there. read more

First time here. Amazing service. Everyone was all smiles and the food arrived so fast. Presentation was beautiful and huge portions for the prices. Quality of food was perfect. Couldn't have asked for anything better. However, noticed the hygiene in the prep area could have been better. Person making sushi blew his nose in a tissue and proceeded to make sushi without washing his hands. Saw a waitress rinse her mouth and spit in a sink by the front area. Kind of put a damper on the meal we ate. Yuck. read more

I used to love this place and was willing to pay the high prices for the good food, but things change and quite frankly their sushi is no longer worth the ridiculous prices charged. I suggest Oishi Maki or Shogun, both close with extremely tasty food. Sorry for the negative review guys, but you really disappointed me with my last visit. read more

Great sushi but overly expensive. Nice atmosphere and you get a menu on an iPad. They are quiet, slow service and kind of on the fancier side . I'm in love with their cheese wontons so I keep returning but there are cheaper places around. read more

Ive waited in this restaurant for hours for an order of California sushi rolls, Sashimi and yam & Shrimp tempura and miso soup, only to discover they didn't take debit but had a $3 service charged ATM conveniently placed in the front. This is the most expensive sushi place in Whitby, to have a $3 service charge on their ATM AND the inability to accept debit is cheap as hell. Never going back here. read more

Service not great. Food not to the same standard as seen with other Sushi Restaurants within same ownership chain. Ordered Tuna rolls, tuna was clearly past its shelf life being brown vs red. Rice was over cooked. Staff didn't seem to care and never brought replacement. Will not be back. read more

was seated within 5 minutes, server named "Stone" asked if we wanted a drink..turns out drinks are an additional cost (paying $17.99 and no drinks included?..Sushi Mountain down the street charges $14.99 and unlimited drinks)...we received water, server never came back to table. waited to ask for more water, wanted Ice Cream, hell, wanted to PAY..server did everything in her power to keep her back to us the entire time. She went to the table beside us, animatedly spoke with them as they were ordering everything off the menu. We were hoping to grab her attention as she walked away from their table except she walked the opposite direction from us so we couldn't grab her. Finally got up and paid, she didn't even come up to say thanks for coming, nothing...Have never had such rude and unprofessional treatment in my entire life. read more

Sushi was really good. Orders come out fast. A little pricey but it's for good quality food.

Great food and service. They have a variety of fish and meat to choose from along with sushi. My favourite is the salmon and beef! I much prefer to dine here than other AYCE places in Toronto. read more

GREAT food for all you can eat! Even their dessert selection was amazing. I highly recomment this place to anyone.

I went for an early Friday dinner with 3 friends and was really looking forward to a great all-you-can-eat sushi and catching up with friends. The place looked nice enough, was busy and lively. We were seated in a huge round booth by the door which was awkward for 4 people - instead of facing each other, 3 of us had to seat beside each other. We didn't complain or ask to be moved. Had we known what was to come, we would have taken that and the dismissive hostess as a sign and went somewhere else. We ordered the food using the iPad provided and chatted while waiting for the food. I had never been to Tatemono before but had been to the sister restaurant, Makimono, many times before, so I was expecting the dishes to come a few at a time, giving us time to eat and make space for the new dishes. What was shocking was that they decided to bring the dishes all at once! There were 7 or 8 servers bringing all our dishes in less than 10 mins! Nobody was serving the other customers! I guess they thought we ordered too much and wanted to embarrass us? It WAS embarrassing and we tried to make space for the dishes as much as we could. We kind of blamed ourselves and tried not complain since we were the ones that ordered the food all at once. We ate what we could. The makis, the sashimi, and the vegetable tempura were ok but we found the cooked dishes very heavy and not so great. I especially disliked the unagi and a chicken dish. What we thought was completely inappropriate was that our waitress felt it necessary to talk about us to the people at the next table and although we didn't know what she was saying we could clearly see the snickering and laughing while they were looking our way and she confirmed that by coming to us and asking us if we were full. I would have thought the appropriate thing would have been to suggest that we re-think our order if she thought that we shouldn't have ordered everything at once but what I do know. We paid $40 each and left as quickly as possible. I will never set foot in that place ever again. read more

Love the ordering process and pictures of what you get on an ipad. Great idea! Eat it all.

New place with a cool interior design (check out the wall of chopsticks near the washrooms). Service was pretty decent. Sushi and tempura were very tasty. I tried 5 different types of maki rolls and I liked all except for the Smoked Salmon Philadelphia roll which was a bit too salty for my taste. The shrimp and yam tempura were hot and crispy. Just the way I like em! They have all you can eat, but it's cheaper to order from the regular menu. read more

I have been eating their food for almost more than 1 year and so far enjoyed it, right until I had an issue with the food. I called in and the manager at duty says: "If you don't like to eat at our food, don't buy it from us anymore.". So just a heads up folks, their customer service sucks to their core. If you do a dine-in, their service speed is horrible, the order comes either in portion or missing things (not once many times). I don't know whether it is done intentionally or this is how they run business. For example: If you order california roll, or volcano roll, expect to see same order missing some roll every single time you get served. Overall, I have been visiting their restaurant solely due to their good food, but now since they have these issues, I will not give them my business anymore. read more

Had the worst experience! Called ahead to see what time they closed the person on the phone said 10 I arrived at 9:30 in hopes to get a quick bite to eat and was told in the rudest way possible that they were closed! Being someone who works in the industry there was no hospitality and rather a lack of customer service. The only reason I came to this location is because they have gluten free soy sauce. I believe it would have been a different story considering I came from a far, If the person who answered the phone had let us know the kitchen closes at 9:30. read more

This restaurant is very friendly to customers. I went there for an order of takeout. The staff there not only invited me to sit there to check out the menu, but also served me a cup of tea while I was waiting for my order. When I consulted the store manager on the portion size to order, he was very forthcoming and did not try to sell more than I needed. Overall I'm very satisfied with this restaurant and would highly recommend this to business travelers who is looking for a good dinning experience at the town of Whitby. read more
