That's irritating as one of the was Chicken with ginger and onion, but they had chicken (in other dishes) and we were able to order Beef with Ginger and Onion. So, it made no sense. Tons of rice and chicken with their sweet teriyaki glaze. The roll is not bad. Salad is pretty plain. 3/5. The sushi and maki combo was a bit of a letdown. The spicy tuna roll looked and tasted like just regular tuna. I'd say one or two pieces had a hint of spicy but they must have missed or run out of sauce. The dynamite roll had almost no avocado so that was a big missed. The salmon seemed fresh but lacked flavor. 2/5. Pork cutlet curry donburry - pork cutlet is done really well with a crunchy breading and inside fully cooked. The curry had good flavor and balanced spice. The only bad thing is that the broccoli they gave us was definitely old in that parts of it were turning yellow. 4/5 for everything minus the broccoli but if u include the broccoli situation, drops to 3/5. My favourite part about this buffet was the rolls. I loved that they had torched rolls which you do not find at most places nowadays. They also had some standouts like a torched scallop sushi and the torched salmon sushi - which were all my favourite. Sashimi wise it was normal and how sashimi was suppose to taste. The cooked food was really good as well. I especially loved their skewers and the bbq short ribs. It was very plump and flavourful and not fatty at all. The tempera batter was light and crispy. You can tell they use fresh oil to fry the shrimp. Service was really good and they were prompt to clear our plates and bring us food. This is an all you can eat place, but it's not your typical buffet where they put out trays of food for people to help themselves. Instead, they give each table an iPad that has the menu loaded on there. You simply select what you want, along with the quantity, and then submit it electronically. At any point during your meal, you can order additional items. There's even a button you can press to call your waiter, like the flight attendant buttons on airplanes! It's a cool, efficient system. The only criticism I have about the menu is that it doesn't have descriptions, which would be helpful for certain sushi rolls where you're not 100% what's in there from the picture. It was $18.99 per person (weekend lunch), which isn't too bad. Some of the things I enjoyed here were the chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken), breaded shrimp (not the tempura), honey garlic chicken wings, chicken teriyaki, and mango ice cream. I will say, the fried food was really greasy, so I soaked that with napkins before eating it. The sushi was not good. If there was any vinegar in the sushi rice, it was barely detectable. The fish wasn't super fresh and it was sliced very thin. The eel didn't come with any eel sauce; it was quite flavorless. We ordered a fried rice that we had to send back because it was salty to the point of being inedible. They do have a policy that if you waste food, you have to pay menu price for the items you don't eat. I'm glad they didn't charge us for the fried rice. They have the ipads where you can order til your hearts content - it's AYCE - so expect the portions to be small and ordered a few of each item (be careful and look at the number of pieces for each item before hitting the + sign..lol). For AYCE...it's actually pretty decent. All the fish dishes we had were great/fresh. And the octopus balls were a great choice...deep fried deliciousness. It's a huge space, so big parties are welcome. And there is plenty of parking so no issues there. The servers were really friendly when we asked questions/recommendations. I know Itamae would charge for food ordered and you didn't eat it...not sure if Osaka does as well...but luckily we didn't find out b/c we finished everything ordered. I'd go back. One of the best things about iPad sushi ordering is the record of every item and the time stamp for the order. I don't usually post reviews and I'm a very lenient customer. I'm the type of customer that just accepts a wrong order and shrugs it off. I've been to many all you can eat sushi places and I've noticed that these types of restaurants tend to make you wait longer for your second round of orders and/or leave out items you ordered. Osaka Sushi was no different in this practice. However my experience with them was the worst. The restaurant was almost empty save for two or three tables. We sat down at 1:06pm. My family and I don't eat very much so instead of creating huge orders we order a few things, finish, and then order again. The first order came relatively. We placed our second order of sushi at 1:16pm and didn't receive our order until 1:50pm after asking the servers TWICE for our food. We never got my ONE beef skewer either or my sister's ramen. I heard the table behind us ask for some of their items as well. The food itself wasn't terrible. The shrimp tempura was good and the hand rolls had fresh, crunchy seaweed. The size and thickness of the sashimi on the sushi and rolls need improvement though. I will say that our items arrived at a decent pace after we complained the second time. However considering the skyrocketing prices and competition for AYCE sushi restaurants it shouldn't take even one complaint for missing food before getting subpar food and service. read more

A very spacious, beautiful restaurant with kind service, reasonable prices and good food. A friend and I went for a la carte dinner although they do have AYCE for around $33 on the weekends. I ordered a Dragon Roll combo and shrimp tempura while she stuck with the Unagi Donburi. The portions are substantial: the slab of eel we got was easily the largest single portion I have ever seen. Everything tasted good if not exemplary, however the waitress always had a smile for us and took our orders promptly. We had an abysmal experience at Osaka Sushi and management didn't care one bit. Thing started OK, got our order placed and then things started to go down hill. We were shorted by 2 maki rolls and a few odds and ends, the food that did arrive was very inconsistent quality, some of it tasted as if it was several days old then deep fried. The ipad crashed so we waited to flag down a server, they restarted the app and walked away without setting up our table, meaning we couldn't order. Wait some more, flag down another server, who "fixes it" and runs away. The ipad is freezing up intermittently so we can't do much on it. We called a server... and were promptly ignored for 10+ minutes. I noticed the manager and went to speak to her, she promptly told me how I was wrong and the defective ipad was working just fine! Until I showed her, again, how it wouldn't let us order. She got us a new one but was not interested in the fact that we were not having a good experience. We decided to try Osaka Sushi for the first time and we were quite disappointed. We were pulling out our chairs to sit as we arrived and immediately "what do you want to drink?" I explained it's our first visit and I haven't seen a menu. I was provided with an iPad and the draft beer section had no brand names. The server kept saying what they don't have. I then just asked "tell me what you do have". Later we ordered a Shirley Temple (non alcoholic), the server got feisty saying "I told you, these type of drinks we don't have". Very strange since a Shirley Temple is basically a mix of 4 beverages just all poured together into one glass! The food portions were extremely small and lacking a lot of flavours if I had to compare to the local businesses along Bloor street by Ossington. Service was very slow. Items not showing up in the priority we ordered them. Desert was brought before all the main courses were brought. A second round of drinks were ordered that never showed up... do they just decide not to bring items that you order? I don't know, the restaurant didn't have a lot of appeal, and after 18 months of Covid, I feel the minimum this place struggled with. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more
