I had dinner with my ladies last night. We had a great time at Tatel Miami and felt really taken care of by the service staff. From the bartender Angelo, who personally delivered the drinks to our table , to the managers who checked up on us throughout the night to make sure everything was great. My favorite dish was the tortilla trufada, this is a dish you absolutely have to order. Cooked to perfection, it took me back to nights at Tatel Madrid. The octopus was tender and the fideua cooked with squid ink where also delicious options. The ventresca salad was nice it is a very traditional spanish salad but if you've never had it before I would skip this dish and try something else more exciting :D. I'm not a huge sweet person so we order the Spanish cheese plate for dessert, YUM! And Definitely try the turron ice cream which is made specially for Tatel by a local ice cream shop called Latteria. It's the best gelato I've had in since Italy! the location is private and chic, I will definitely be back very soon! read more

Tatel was very disappointing. The location is great, the restaurant has it's own reasonably-priced valet parking. It definitely succeeds in establishing the Uber luxury vibe it goes for with it's beautiful interior and impeccably dressed wait staff. Where it all falls apart is with the food. Not only is it extremely over-priced (even by Miami Beach standards) but it is aggressively mediocre. The ham was great but at $68 for a small plate is not worth it. The croquetas we're cold and below average, they try to go for a more creamy filling and call it a "milk" croqueta but it ends up being tasteless and mushy. The octopus and broken eggs were tasty and the only standouts from our dinner. Where it gets really insulting is with their larger plates. The rice we ordered at $40 per person felt like a poor attempt at a paella. The lobster was well cooked but tasteless. And the lamb chops at about $50 a plate comes with THREE chops that once again we're cooked well but completely lacked any seasoning. Honestly until this place hires a decent chef and changes their menu, you're better off spending your money at other, better high end restaurants on Miami Beach. read more

We decided to try this new Restaurant owned by Enrique Iglesis and Rafael Nadal located in the Ritz Carlton Hotel on South Beach . If you decide to visit this place like we did ,you might also agree that Enrique and Rafael should stick with what they do best because this investment will not pay off if changes aren't made soon. The menu was not your typical popular Spanish dishes and had no unique flavor From the appetizers to the meal to the desserts all proved to be a very big disappointment . How can you have a Spanish restaurant without paella? The filet mignon that I had was ok but the other meals were not what you would expect in an upscale restaurant . Why would you serve breaded veal cutlets at a fancy Spanish restaurant when you can get that anywhere. I didn't even realize that it was even a Spanish dish . The desserts were refrigerator cold and again nothing special , especially coming from some famous chef . I think Enrique Iglesis restaurant team needs to re-group and figure out a new menu and new game plan . The staff were in the weeds from the moment we arrived .Completely disorganized or understaffed Was it because they have only been opened for 4 months ? First time going to Tatel and I was really impressed! Tatel located is in the Ritz Carlton hotel, they have valet parking so that was a plus. The entrance of the restaurant is very nice and classy, the bar and restaurant decor was almost like the great Gatbsy movie from the menu to the plates. The atmosphere was excellent the background music was very trendy. Santiago, the manager walked us to our table which was made us feel very special.  Since it was our first time there, we asked the waiter to guide us, he was well-knowledge about the Spanish cuisine. We started with a few appetizers, ibérico ham, fried calamari, and the crispy eggplant with honey, it was delicious I fully recommended it. We also had the grilled octopus I don't personally like octopus but it was very very delicious, very tender and complemented nicely with the potatoes.  Our entrees was the grilled branzino cooked to perfection. Then we had the dry aged rib-eye medium rare with French fries and asparagus, very appetizing.   For desert we had almost everything in the desert menu. Turón ice cream, arroz con leche, Natillas and torrijas which were my favorite.  I will definitely come back again, Tatel is a great restaurant specially when the service was outstanding! We arrived early so we decided to have a drink at the bar. The bartender was great- made us some delicious cocktails! Dinner was just as amazing! We started wit the octopus (very tender) and the truffle omelette ( delicious and quite big!). We were all very excited to try this new spot after hearing all the hype after it's opening. Very beautiful space with cool tunes playing, until the DJ started spinning tunes around 9pm I think. Then it's much more lively. Anyway, we started with the truffle tortilla. It was pure heaven. Best tortilla I've ever had, and I lived in Madrid and my boyfriend is Spanish. Then we had the octopus appy. I couldn't cut it. My boyfriend had to. It was tough and pretty bad. Fishy tasting. Then we had the thinly sliced tuna, like carpaccio. It was ok; not great. The tuna was kind of tasteless. It needed something else. We couldn't decide what. But all three dishes were over salted by a mile. Our friends all had the lobster/rice dish for $42/pp. When it came, they hardly had any lobster. Both the server and waiter told them the lobster on their plate was simply decorative. Someone moved it and realized the tail hadn't been shucked; that was where all the lobster was. Anyway, all 4 said it too was overly salted, as was their appetizer - the artichokes with ham. Not one of the 4 of us said we would go back. Too bad! Wanted to love it! read more

Oh my goodness. The Spanish wines here are the best!!!! I sat at the bar this time with Angelo and had a barely and truffle risotto. I think I licked the bowl when no one was looking!! I really love the vibe of this place and the service was great. I was greeted at the door by 3 people and treated amazingly even though I didn't have a reservation or get a table. I have heard so much about this restaurant, I'm so glad I finally got to try it out. I have friends that have eaten at the Tatel in Spain but apparently this one is even better. The service was impecable. The food was delicious. They had a great wine selection. All the staff on the floor were attentive and knowledgeable. I wanted to eat at Tatel multiple times before leaving my review and now I have. Each time the quality and service as blown me away. The Iberico ham, while pricey at $68, is world-class. For the rest of the menu portions are big and very fairly priced for such a restaurant in the area. My faves include the Broken eggs with potato's and Ibirico ham ($20) this is gourmet comfort food. Crispy Artichoke, Crispy Eggplant and the Salpicon seafood salad (kind of ceviche) are standout starters. Fav mains are the Tempura lobster, Grilled Red Snapper and Seared Scallops. Also seriously into the lamb ribs which are from Colorado. Dessert here is superb and everyone always raves. I always have the warm apple tart and pray someone else gets the Chocolate cake so I can steal some! Only one I don't recommend is the "Now your the chef" make it yourself dessert. I'll give it 4 stars for the great staff, Angelo and Lupe, and the atmosphere at the bar. These two guys were super friendly! The drinks were good, however the food is hit or miss. I really liked the queso manchego and the jamón ibérico, the salmorejo, and the arroz con leche. The branzino, tortilla trufada, and the huevos rotos were just ok. I love zak the baker, but I think his bread is not the right type of bread for the pâté dish. Had a reservation but stayed at the bar with Angelo, Head Barman, who with his team were amazing to watch as they crafted cocktails like an artist with a masterpiece The food was a gastronomic walk in the clouds! The staff were all so attentive and said "Good Evening " as they passed you in the space. Overall, I am very disappointed in this place. The lamb tasted like a wet shoe.... the croquetas were cold and tasteless, and all of that would be (fairly) forgiven if the price point of the restaurant wasn't so high! there are much better restaurants in the Miami Beach area that for the same or even less amount of money the food is outstanding, save your coin! The aesthetic of the overall place is very beautiful however and at the entrance the man cutting the ibérico ham leaves a good impression. Everything is perfect, except the actual food itself. My 3 star review for Tatel. The reason it got 3 stars and not 2 is because the multiple visits to the table apologizing by the managers. Went there last night with 3 other couples. The night started at the beautiful bar having a couple of drinks were noticed 3 bartenders a little bit on the slow side. I off course didn't pay much attention. The place is decorated nicely with subtle touches of elegance. The hostess was on point looking beautiful and refined as she showed us to our table for 8. Once at the table we were offered, like all great restaurants, black or white linen napkins depending on your clothes to avoid lint. SO FAR SO GOOD. Drinks were ordered 2 mojitos (normal in Miami), 1 Mule, a wine and something else. A short time after, the appetizers were ordered. Appetizers arrived quickly and this far was amazing. The croquettes, the truffled tortilla española, shrimp and octopus were all cooked perfectly. But unfortunately that's where the magic ends. The mojitos after 3 requests from the somewhat confused and untrained waiter were completely absent from the table. It took a manager, a young gentleman of great stature and height to go and make or bring or expedite mojitos. At this point half the table was already upset. Then confusion when the food arrived. I was shocked to see that they had butterflied my Filet Mignon and I asked why and the answer was "that is how steak was served and that it wasn't butterflied". I guess their lack of training in culinary department didn't teach them that butterfly means sliced open for better cook temperature for people who like the meat more cooked. Unfortunately, I ordered medium rare. Moving on, my associates sea bass was not to expectations. It was like Seabass deep fried balls with little or no taste at all. The Branzino was excellent, two of the people at the table stated and the sides were good but we got like 3 extra sides that were not ordered because of the poor service. The waiter tried his best and apologized. Tip we left was customary 20%. It's not staffs fault I believe more training was due before opening in such a critical food critic society as is Miami Beach with so many great options of restaurants were they all compete for returning customers. Unfortunately, I doubt I would be returning. I do wish them well and hope they fix the many errors such as training of wait staff, slow or over worked bar for size venue and coffee and tea station ohhh which I forgot to mention the tea and coffee took almost as long as the lost mojitos to arrive to table and when they did arrive, 2 coffees were completely COLD. were on it. Only received one. Allegedly the waiter only heard one appetizer. We spent $160 on a bottle of wine. One of the most reasonably priced wines they had on the menu. Wow. So disappointing. Cost an absolute fortune ($81 a head without wine) and the food was quite forgettable - it just had no taste. The decor really had no flavor either, come to think of it - it looks like a recycled Playboy club from the 70s. The service was fairly half-hearted too. I would have no problem with it if they priced the place accordingly, but they're pricing at a premium level, and what they are providing just is not premium in any way. There's no way they will still be open in 6 months. We had the tatel meatballs which had a curry sauce, and the lobster with risotto. It's just not something I would want to have again. Then the desserts.... total failure! They really tried to get creative with the natilla. The natilla was sweet liquid milk with merengue on top. Not good, not creative. The torrijas was just a French toast with too much anise. We came to the restaurant on Saturday night. The decoration and the place was beautiful. The food was excellent as well. However, the service was terrible. We ordered some drinks to start - 2 glasses of champagne and mixed drinks. When champagne came, they put both glasses in front of one person and just expected us to pass it around. We ordered a number of dishes to share as our main course and the waiter completely forgot one of the dishes we ordered. This was after he wrote it all down and double checked what we ordered and how we wanted it to come out. He didn't even realize that he forgot the dish. We then ordered dessert which took forever to come out. After about 30 minutes, we asked the waiter about it and he responded that they are busy. The only redeeming quality of the place is the food. The octopus was amazing and so was the tortilla. All the dishes we tried were tasty and well cooked. Unfortunately, given the horrible service it's just not worth coming back to. read more

The tables & seating are a bit crowded and some of the tables have "leatherette" upholstered chairs which make you feel somewhat hot/heated. Perfect mix of authentic and traditional Spanish cuisine with modern ambiance and outstanding service right in the middle of Art Deco in South Beach. Perfect place for cocktails and tapas after work at their cool bar as well as sitting down for romantic date or with large group gatherings. Beautiful atmosphere but cocktails and food lack substance. Paella was very sad and not authentic. Basic tomato rice with three small farmed looking shrimp from a grocery freezer section. If only three shrimp are served they should be large succulent prawns fresh from the ocean. It looked as though the kitchen didn't plan and made a grocery run to a cheap store. Shame on you Ritz, you know better. Our complaint wasn't rectified either. Poo pooed for speaking up. I would be embarrassed offering that dish to guests in my home. Went back last past Saturday with some friends from Spain. I was a little sceptic, since some of the reviews were not that great, how ever, the place was still packed and the food was fantastic. They had a special "Snapper a la Bilbaína " very simple and so tasty. Service was on point, and the wine list is one of the best in terms of quality & price. Will be back for sure. read more
