They have just relocated to 35-12 Ditmars Blvd after Thirsty Kiola closed. I went there twice last month. The first time was a great success: fresh, delicious salad with chicken, but our second time for breakfast was a disaster. After waiting in line for nearly 15 minutes, we had to wait even longer to get served our breakfast brunch, which involved eggs, bacon, toast, etc. When the food arrived on the table, it was far from fresh; there had been a kitchen malfunction.. to the owner's credit when we explained what happened, we did not have to pay. The new Tasty Diner has more space than the old Thirsty Kiola. Its layout is that of a comfy restaurant, not a gastropub with rickety seating. I think the crew they hired was just overwhelmed, and I am prepared to give them another chance. Their grade should have been 4 stars.

I was in the mood for a burger so I decided to give this spot a try. I ordered a California burger which came with cheddar cheese and avocado. I also ordered a side of onion rings, they were crunchy and delicious. The burger patty was seasoned perfectly and was good quality meat. The reason for the 3 star review is due to the fact that my son couldn't even step into their bathroom to wash his hands because it was that filthy. The other reason is due to the service. I had to get up several times to the counter to ask for utensils, for napkins and for honestly anything else we needed. I know there was only one waitress but service is very important for me.

Tasty's is exactly what you'd expect from diner food. Stick to the basics and you'll be good. I had the western omelette with cheese, which came with home fries and toast. It was a huge portion and was very good. I also tried the mozzarella sticks and was actually surprised that they weren't your typical pre-frozen ones.

But the really beauty is that it looks like an old school diner, it's just far enough the beaten path, that it's regulars coming here. BRING CASH! My sister has wheels so I hit her up and we hit the road. We ended up grabbing lunch but I want to return for brunch. I loved the old school aesthetic from the outside and all the details on the inside. THE BETTY BOOPSSSSS are the absolute best! I could not get enough. Didn't take too long for a table, maybe 15 minutes. It's popular for those who know. We got seated in the back. Out waiter was nice but new so there was a couple miscommunications but it was all good. He was in training. Judging by the people around us, they knew what they wanted. They came over and gave us pickles for the table. My sister was not a fan, so I did not partake. The father/son duo next to us got entrees but shared pancakes and the son got a milkshake. I think next time, I need to take their lead. I got a fish filet sandwich and my sister for a tuna salad sandwich with fries. I had potato salad but her fries were better. My sandwich was yummy on a brioche role and avocado slices. I loved it. I really can't wait to return. I told everyone I know about this place! May it last for many more decades ahead! Until next time!

I had several hours to kill on my way back to the LaGuardia airport and spotted this location just off the highway. Everything about this location screens nostalgia. Please keep in mind. This is a cash only operation however they do have an ATM machine by the restroom if needed. I started with an order of Diet Coke, which was served with a side of Housemade pickles. They were delicious. Since it was later in the afternoon, I went for the classic Jackson hole 7 ounce cheeseburger serve with steak fries. One of the juiciest hamburgers I've had in quite some time. All of the servers were very attentive, checking on me and making sure my soda was filled. Definitely must stop and enjoy before diners like this fade away into history.

The food is fantastic, classic, and exactly what you want from a neighborhood greasy spoon. Grilled cheese, soup, breakfast... everything I've had here has been consistently great. We unfortunately live in a world where old-school luncheonettes are slowly disappearing, but Family Corner is still carrying the torch. Places like this are getting harder and harder to find, and Astoria is lucky to have one that still does it right. If you want a real neighborhood spot with great food and even better people, this is it.

He told me the first time I called, the order is $10.16, no problem. I called the second time and he DID NOT in form me on the price change. I get the order delivered to me to it being $16 because of 3 toast. $6 for 3 toast? I didnt have the cash so I called back to put it on card but asked why is it $16. He responded back with disrespect " oh you thoguht it was going to be free" no I knew it was going to be a charge but not $16 because of 3 toast. I said " no I get that but you could have informed me" and he said "no you thought it was going to be free? Get out of here" Then HANGS UP THE PHONE ON ME. I was kindly talking to him, called back to put it on card. Then I had my boyfriend call back, he talked to him nicely as well " my girlfriend called etc" the guy responded back with "give us the $16 dollars and this is going to be the last time you order food" Charging me the whole price of what they buy for a loaf of sliced white bread. I had the money to pay. I saved money and they just lost a sale. DISRESPECTFUL OWNER, hanging up on a costumer is unprofessional as well

The atmosphere and ambience was warm and inviting, while people were engaging and having fun it never got too loud where you couldn't have a convo at your table. We also wanted to try the crab and avocado dip to share, but we weren't sure if the chips were safe for my friend to have, who has a GF allergy. Let's play a game.. never have I ever received my avocado for my omelets.. never have I ever received butter for my delivery orders... never have I ever had an ingredient that wasn't still frozen... never have I ever wanted to stand outside of an establishment urging people to not go in. But I keep coming back because I convince myself it's just one time, people make mistakes, they still love me.. right? My friends tell me I'm better than this and have consoled me so many times that I now have to secretly order delivery so I don't hear the "I told you so" after they once again take my dignity, leaving me naked with dried tears in my eyes while having the nerve to ask me to call them an Uber. The toxic energy of this location must go unnoticed because corporate only looks at their low food cost margins. But as it is, Big Pancake is equally to blame for fostering this culture of abuse. Take it from me, don't be tempted by the luring smell as you walk by. Don't be fooled by the innocent smiles of the puppets they call their employees. Don't kid yourself if you think they won't take advantage of you in a moment of weakness. Go find yourself a good, local pancake house. Sure, they may be a small business but they'll treat you right. They won't get what they want and leave, not even buttering your pancakes, like IHOP will. You're better than this. Respect yourself. Love yourself.. and don't be afraid to ask for help if you are in a similar situation. Your friends and family are here for you and there are plenty of resources to get you the help you need. 5 STARS.

The service was great and everyone working at this diner were very friendly and accommodating, as well as attentive. There is a Happy Hour menu that we skipped because we were still on the clock, but it is worth checking out in the future. HH starts at 2PM... Anyway, we shared mozzarella sticks that were quite delicious. I say this because I am not a fan, but did enjoy these because they were crispy, light and a little buttery. The marinara sauce was well seasoned, and worthy of a nice pasta. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. We finished with burgers, which were quite large, filling and tasty. There are many burger options but I chose to build my own. I could only eat half but enjoyed it with half steak fries/half onion rings. The burger was not over seasoned, juicy, thick and cooked perfectly. It was so good ketchup was unnecessary. The menu has many options that I would not mind coming back to try out. If you're in the area, please go. In addition, Bel Aire Diner has the chromed out, old school diner vibe. The Mother's Day seating was really cute as well.
