Anyone who knows me, knows I love eating Thai food. For my birthday celebration, we walked around the Commons. We decided to go to Taste of Thai. Perfect choice. For my entree, I decided on Vegetarian Pad Kee Mau. It came with broccoli, raw shredded carrots and red cabbage, red peppers, cabbage, soy sauce and chopped carrots. It came with light taste of spice. Delicious. Joseph ordered the curry chicken. The wait staff rates an A+ for service. I told the staff that I wanted to come here to celebrate my birthday. At the end of our delicious meal, the wait staff presented me with fried bananas with a little candle. What a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday. Highly recommend Taste of Thai. Add many friends weight tables like long, long time ago here I honestly thought that taste of Thai express was related, but it's not. But they honestly on par in my experience. Taste of Thai has a convenient location in the commons. It's a very nice sit down type dining experience. The wait staff was excellent sung us happy birthday. We ordered Pad see ew and I had yellow curry with chicken. It was tasty and delicious and the right amount of savoriness and spices for this cold winter day. It's honestly great for parties. After spending the morning at Sciencenter we needed lunch, we haven't been here in a few years. We were the only customers there, we went in between lunch and the start of dinner. We started with three appetizers calamari, chicken wings and spring rolls. The calamari was decent, but wish the batter was seasoned a little(we like rings and tentacles style more lol). My oldest loved the chicken wings, we love the lemongrass flavor. The spring rolls ok a little bland without dipping sauce. For our entrees: Thai Fried Rice with Chicken : my oldest enjoyed this, I tasted a little and it was flavorful not bland. Green Curry with Duck : I never order green curry(I love red curry or Panang) decided to try something new. It was delicious and good amount of serving(you only get one small bowl of rice). We were asked heat level when ordering, I did a level 4 and had heat but not overpowering. I took leftovers home. Drunken Noodles with Chicken : My husband said his meal was ok but wish it was saucier and his portions were small (compared to other places we've been). Overall I think we'll check out other Thai restaurants in the area whenever we come back for a visit. We like to compare. read more

The service was pretty slow and it took a while for us to get seated and receive our order. This was okay though since the place seemed pretty full that day. The ambiance was super nice. They had flowers and a candle, which really helped to elevate the experience. Definitely gives it a more romantic vibe. I enjoyed both the Pad Thai and the Yellow Curry! They were so delicious. The Pad Thai was sweet, savory, and nutty. The chopped peanuts helped to give it a umami taste. The yellow curry was unexpectedly sweet (I've never had yellow curry before though) but savory from the beef and potatoes. It was a good combination. The mango sticky rice was great too! The mango was ripe and the rice was super chewy with the right amount of sweetness. If it wasn't for how full I already was, I would have probably finished it. I'm staying in Ithaca for the week. I type into Yelp: Fine Dining and one of the choices were a pizza - brewery spot. It's ok, I can adapt anywhere. About 5pm, we bolted out to a local Thai restaurant wanting to explore more of the city's culinary offerings. As always, I'm open to try something new and different. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Basil Duck, it sounds Italian?? Sold! The Thai Iced Tea, I'm not looking for a sugary drink. The waiter assured me it's made with coconut milk, very flavorful. Ok, now I'm down to clown. The Thai Iced Tea? Wow! Sweet but very addictive. Starbucks should have this drink as an offering. My Basil Duck was interesting, lots of great flavors but the skin wasn't crispy. And I hate that.... I had a nice meal at Taste of Thai, enjoy! read more

I left my first review of this place six years ago, after we first discovered it. On our first night in town while vacationing we made the short walk to the Commons where this restaurant resides. As is our custom, my wife and I share entrees whenever possible. In this case she ordered Thai Spicy Noodles (flat wide noodles stir fried with chicken, fresh chili, Thai basil, onion, bell peppers, mushroom, corn and carrot). I countered with Jungle Fish (stir fried catfish, Thai basil, baby corn, Thai eggplant, bell peppers, mushrooms, Thai herbs and coconut). Taste of Thai... how I love youuuu. Taste of Thai is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Ithaca! Their food is so versatile, tasty, and perfect for all dietary needs!! Everytime I go to a restaurant, I like to try something new and I've never had a bad dish here! The yellow curry is AMZING and the Rama noodles own my life! I love the aromatic dishes with the perfect balance of spicy and slight sweetness of the coconut milk. I love how most dishes can be modified to fit your dietary needs. The portions are great for a family style dinner. Additionally, they're super speedy. Somehow Taste of Thai is FASTER than Taste of Thai Express. I also love the friendly staff and their willingness to provide insights. Shoutout to Adam for introducing me to the yellow fried rice and Miwa for the lovely conversations. First time in Ithaca and came across this Thai restaurant. I wasn't expecting much, but the food was actually pretty good. I got the pad Thai with mock meat. The dish was very flavorful--nutty, savory, and sweet (my friend thought it was slightly too sweet, but I didn't mind). My only comment would be that the mock chicken was a bit on the processed/spongy side but nothing too crazy. My friend got their spicy pad see eew with chicken. It was flavorful and had good variety of vegetables. However, the noodles were a bit oily, in my opinion, and the chicken was kinda dry. The desserts were amazing. Hands-down the BEST mango sticky rice I've ever had in my life. Fresh sweet mango paired with warm soft sticky rice bathing in a smooth sweet coconut sauce. The rice was perfectly cooked--not too soft or mushy at all. I would 10/10 recommend this if you like mango and coconut. The sweet black sticky rice was a new dessert to the both of us but a delicious surprise! The warm black sticky rice paired so nicely with the coconut "soup". Both of these were so good that we went back for more just before leaving Ithaca. Overall, really good Thai restaurant! Highly recommend their desserts and noodles as well! It's a fine place to get Thai food in Ithaca. I wouldn't say it's the best Thai food I've ever had, but for the price (and being in Ithaca) it's good enough. I enjoyed their green curry and have heard good things about their mango sticky rice. I also enjoyed the spring rolls and the chicken satay. Their pad see ew isn't the best pad see ew ever (a bit overly salty and sweet), but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Service is good. They were attentive in setting the table and bringing waters and getting an extra spoon for us when we needed. The restaurant itself is nice. It's warmly decorated in wood and Thai fixtures so it matches the food well. Solid Thai food in the commons! We went on a packed Saturday night, prime 7:30pm and had a short wait. The restaurant was completely filled with large groups. The wait for the food was long, however it was extremely busy! We ordered the red curry chicken, green curry beef and the eggplant long song. The curries were both excellent! However skip the eggplant long song. It was basically four thinly sliced eggplant deeply fried on a bed of cold steamed veggies. This really was not to my liking at all. Come for the curries! I walked in to pick up a Togo order. The interaction was one of the most pleasant I've had at an Ithaca restaurant. The server was so nice and relaxing and asked about my day. The service was intention and it was the first time in a long time in Ithaca, that the worker didn't act like I was a nuisance for buying something from them. The jazz music and warm ambiance they had set made me wanna curl up in a ball, and the thom Kha soup was the perfect flavor for a cold night. Taste of Thai has one of the best Curries that I have had in a long time. My family had several dishes and everything was absolutely fantastic! The service was really great and the Waiters were extremely kind, patient and friendly. They made sure we were doing ok while enjoying our meal. Lastly, the bathrooms are magnificently clean and spotless. They really keep up their restaurant and that says a lot! I love Thai food and I was looking forward to this place at the Commons. I'm sorry to say it was disappointing. Food was just meh. The chive dumplings's texture (a bit gelatinous) was inedible. The main dishes also too bland compared to other Thai dishes I've had. Something that bugged me a bit, was the need to ask for utensils. They only give you a fork and one small paper napkin. A knife and a spoon are a must for most curry dishes and extra napkins for sure. It seemed like they were trying to save costs at the expense of the customer's convenience. Taste if Thai is Located close to Cornel university in a location that was not so easy to park for accessing. Since we arrived on a Sunday off street parking was free and had several open spots. I would give 4 stars for the food. I requested spicy level 5 ( highest) but it was at best medium spicy. Flavor was ok. Took a while after getting seated to get service but it was kind of a busy day. Let me start by saying I couldn't decide between 3 or 4 stars. It's definitely a good place to go and the food is really good so why the struggle for the rating?!? Two things - one it's not easy to find on GPS specifically Google maps or Waze. It was bringing us to a corner and it's definitely not the spot. Once we found it I was thankful. Secondly, this may just be me but there was more protein than there was pasta in both dishes. I don't know about you but if I'm craving pad Thai I want the pad Thai noodles. There was more chicken than the noodles so the ratio was way off in my opinion. Judge for yourself in my pictures. Still great Thai food! I used to come here in college and am so glad it's still around. I went two days in a row recently dine in and take out. Tried Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Pad See Ew, spicy Rah Nah, Massaman Curry, Thai Spicy noodles and Thai Iced Tea. The soups stand out and are very flavorful, both the Tom Yum and Tom Kha are great. Tom Kha with the coconut broth is soooo delicious, Tom Yum has a delicious lemon grass and lime leaf flavor. Pad see ew has a nice soy sauce flavor. Massaman curry has a creamy peanuty finish. Thai ice tea has a nice creamy top. I'd say Taste of Thai's spice levels lean spicy. 2/5 is medium spicy and 3/5 is medium-high spicy. Hope this Ithaca staples is always here! read more

Went here with a group of friends on a Sunday night around 6:30pm. Ended up waiting an HOUR for our food. The restaurant wasn't even full. I think they were understaffed and just couldn't get the food out fast enough. With that being said, the food was delicious when it came. We ordered two pad thais with chicken, one pad see ew with tofu, and one pad see ew with chicken. The servings were pretty large and I like that you are able to choose your spice rating from 1-5. I got a spice level of 3, and it had the perfect amount of kick without leaving me panting after each bite. I would come back because it is one of the few good Thai places in Ithaca, but I will dread the wait. Hopefully they can get more staff soon(or speed up the cooking process)! read more

worst service imaginable -- saw our waitress like twice the entire two hours we were there, actually saw the food runner more than her. worst part was it was our friend's birthday and the waitress told us she put a birthday dessert in for her, however we never got any dessert. when i went to ask the bartender if we could get the dessert, he happily said yes but there would be a twenty minute wait, to which we declined having been there long enough. the waitress then came over and told us the manager told her we couldn't have a dessert tonight because it was "too busy." not sure why she couldn't have told us that over an hour before but oh well. overall, very disappointing and will not be returning. read more
