This place hands down had the best sangria we tried in Mardrid. They offer white, red, and cava sangria. All types are delicious and worth trying to see which type you like best. This was also the only place we went to that offered free small tapas with drinks. This is a must try while visiting central Madrid. All the waiters were super nice and spoke both English and Spanish very well, which was nice. Tables fill up fast outside, but there is a ton of seating inside, including a really cool window seat that is great for taking pics. read more

A gem, if you are looking for great service and delicious food! From the manager to the waiters, they are attentive. We were across the street attempting to find a place to eat at the Mercado de San Miguel and found this restaurant with a bar /tabletop area, normal indoor seating and a lounge downstairs. The food was delicious from the croquetas to the honey crispy chicken! The calamari was freshly fried and simply amazing! Juan and Boa made sure we were taken care of both times we visited! Located in the Palacio area of Madrid is this cute and reasonably priced restaurant to get your fill of tapas and sangria. It was hands-down one of the best dinners I have EVER had. I went here with my best friend and our waiter was wonderful at recommending tapas for us to share. By the time we were done we felt like we had died and gone to heaven. We had chorizo in cider, spicy potatoes, and pasta with pesto sauce. It was the best kind of food coma, accompanied by the most delicious sangria. Two stars is generous and only because Gonzalo gave excellent service and the patatas bravas is decent. Gonzalo is friendly and takes time to make you feel truly welcome. One of the other servers is playing on his phone during service. He is also quite abrupt. Even if you order a drink, asking for a glass of water will result in your getting told that they don't serve it. The 4 euro charge for a tiny shot of gazpacho and bread that I didn't order is outrageous. The cod in Pil Pil sauce tastes ok, but looks so unappetizing with the overly thick cornstarch-like sauce. Wrong texture. No way should it have been that lumpy. read more

Ambiance Loved the rustic feel and how crates were used to make the tables. Felt very clean and airy inside. Service Impeccable! Our server was attentive, prompt, considerate of kids! (We have a 2yo, 4yo, and 6yo) Food Mmmm! The bread, oils, and flaky salt. We got the scrambled aka broken eggs dish (Spanish style w gummy eggs over fries w Iberica ham on top) and the crispy chicken which was a fancy chicken tenders- all delicious! This is probably the best food we have had in Madrid. The service was absolutely amazing. Our waiter suggested a wine that was out of this world. And then helped us navigate the menu. We ended up with the gourmet tapas for four. Not one was not to our liking. Each of the taste were magnificent. We had desserts as well that did not disappoint. This is the great place for tourist! If you stay near Royal Palace of Madrid, this is the place to go for dinner! It's also close to Mercado de San Miguel and Plaza Mayor. There were both Spanish and English menu. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Atmosphere is very modern! Love the interior and decor. I got RISOTTO which was recommended by the waiter. It was great!!! Don't forget to order tapas selection, too! Iberian ham was very very tasty and flavorful. It might be a little bit pricy compared to other authentic tapas restaurant, but it didn't bother me at all. read more

Excellent alternative to the over crowded Mercado de San miaguel. I love the Mercado but traveling with 4 hungry friends who didn't want to stand to eat pushed us beyond the crowds to this excellent bistro. My mother and I wanted to eat near this area and found this popular cafe near the popular Mercado. We wanted to experience a true Spanish meal and wanted to enjoy and relax like a typical European. We were able to have delicious Spanish food here and loved our drinks as well. The ambiance is also very nice and people watching is very easy to do here if you eat al fresco. It's our last night here in Spain, and we were looking for tapas before having to leave town tomorrow morning. We've walked all over the city and had 12 meals here in the city. This is by far our best experience. We happened to stumble upon it, as it's right next to plaza Mayor and right in front of mercado San Miguel. We were greeted by great staff, they asked us if we would like to sit inside because, surprisingly it was kind of chilly. We declined and decided to eat outside. After having our drinks delivered we quickly picked up and moved inside. Once inside we ordered. The sampler of tapas for two! Completely satisfied we decided to do that. I've ordered patatas bravas at 6 places, this is by far the best!! The sauce is delightful. We also ordered the assortment of deserts!! What a great choice. If friends or family come to Madrid I'm definitely suggesting Taste Gallery! read more

A chic place near the San Miguel Market in Madrid. We made reservations, and our table was ready when we got here. We had to wait a little while to get the menus, and for service but everybody was lovely. High quality food at affordable prices. We ordered a feast. The small plates were definitely the stars here. Try the burrata, patatas bravas, and the padrano peppers. We also got some bread with oil to start. As with most European restaurants, they bring the bread without asking but you will be charged 2€ per person. That said it was really yummy bread. The Albariño wine was crisp and refreshing. The list is also filled with other local wines. The mains were also good -- we ate family style and shared the paperdelle pasta, mushroom risotto, and fried cod. The pasta came out on the colder side, but the risotto was piping hot. The cod had a sweeter aioli. All in all, a good place to try if you are visiting Madrid. There is definitely something for everybody to enjoy! read more

Returned for lunch the next day and ordered a tuna burger with a glass of white wine. The burger was delicious, and the waiter brought me a small glass of Irish Creme liquor for dessert (no charge). I highly recommend this restaurant when you visit Madrid. read more

This tapas place has very good. It's right near the Mercado and if you'd like to eat you can sit outside and watch the interesting folks that walk up and down the street as a huge plus. The food was very good, the wine was good and Matt our waiter was on point. He was always checking in to see how things were going and he even gave up a free app which was really nice because we were really hungry. Not such a good experience. I ordered three appetizers - Pappas Bravas, Croquettes and The chicken. The Croquettes were made with Cod, which works for me but not one of the people I was with - that would have good info to have on the menu. The Pappas Bravas were OK but nothing special. This place either has some fierce competition or in a prime location--you decide. It's right outside of Mercado San Miguel, which is an gastronomic feast in itself. My group of 9 decided it was time to sit down and eat, so we each got a small plate for the table to share. Wandering away from the crowds we stumbled on this fun little tapas bar and restaurant. Mathew was fun and offered great service and advice. Amazed how many people he had to kick out who just wanted a place to sit and take up space in his restaurant. The people watching is great with the market right across the street. We ordered the Felix tapas, a couple drinks and spicy potatoes. (My wife liked them and does not eat spicy food) all the food was amazing and creative. Creative in a traditional meets modern flair. Fantastic cozy place right off the street in a little square, right in the middle off the highpaced citylife is this place. Right across San miguel foodmarket, this place does not dissappoint. this place has a great vibe about it- upscale modern yet home-y. the food wasn't too great. my husband and I split the honey mustard chicken- the chicken was a little over cooked- and the rigatoni- the sauce was a little sweet and it didn't taste anything different from the pasta I make at home. he ordered a glass of Cabernet and I had vodka sprite with cherry (an adult Shirley temple, if you will). Great area, near Plaza Mayor and the San Miguel Mercado (check that place out for fun). Restaurants in Plaza Mayor are pricey because it is a tourist attraction, definitely great for people watching! We happened into this place after a go at Mercado San Miguel (too crowded) and couldn't have been happier. We enjoyed it so much that, despite my rule never to go to the same restaurant on a trip, we returned again later. Their croquetas, the fried green tomato, and the chicken with honey sauce were all delicious. When we returned we had a duck risotto that was terrific!! I am still thinking about it. Jesus, Danny, and Pepe were all beyond accommodating and friendly. We ended up closing the place and never felt rushed or unwelcome. Make this a stop for sure if you are in the area. read more

We had lunch here today, as the menu seemed better than all the other area restaurants, which are all typical Spanish tourist tapas places with outside seating. The decor was cute inside, but the A/C wasn't cool enough, so we sat outside under an umbrella. Little did we know that terrace seating has a 1 euro per plate (and .50 euro per drink) extra for sitting on the patio!! We discovered it after we had been seated and ordered drinks. We ordered mimosas, Salmorejo (delicious) and patatas bravas (bad, oily and bland). Matt, the waiter, started off fine, but the whole restaurant (and especially Matt) seemed focused on adding extras to the bill... like bread you didn't order, but are charged for... and 3 bottles of water when you ordered 3 glasses (and they are 3.50 each, of course) ... just sketchy. Just generally feel like the place is dishonest- not unusual for a tourist trap, but it felt gross. We told him that the bread was not something we had ordered, and he loudly argued with us about how much they spend on bread every month. Yuck. Also, the place is crawling with aggressive guys trying to sell you crap on the street. It got really annoying. Not the restaurant's fault, just part of dining in this area. Overall, I really wanted to like it, and the inside decor was nice, but we really disliked the whole experience. read more

The Taste Gallery is situated in a lively plaza with plenty of outside tables, but when we went at about 9 on a Saturday night and there was still plenty of room in the surprisingly large inside area. Our service was excellent as our waiter, Matt was fluent in English and Spanish and was always there when needed and not when unnecessary.
