My egg and cheese on Taste Benders bread
    Philip S.

An unexpected find - I was actually parked to go to a shop - came across this small but might good little food find - Taste Benders drew me in because of the bright cheery signs of baked goods - inside I was intoxicated by the smell of fresh Baking, on display were a selection of scones - so I tried a scone and the flavour with a slight crunch and some jam were arguably some of the best flavour I've had from a scone on a long time, I then decided to try a half sandwich of egg and cheese on their homemade bread, now I have to say- I'm definitely coming back for more - this was a perfect combo of their homemade bread (egg to custom style, and cheese ) It's enough to satisfy my need for a healthy meal that was just right. Then by the time I was leaving I stocked up with additional baked goods of double chocolate and cream cheese cookie and a matcha cream cheese cookie - for later, my son downed them before I had the chance to- so taster benders have breakfasts - seat about 8 people so I'll get there early to try brunch! These places are why I love this city - so many talents cooks with boutique spots to try - I have to say I recommend this place for sure!

A bake shop that offers bends and turns on baked goods and more! It is situated in a space with Onnki Donburi, it is a great place to grab a meal or just grab a snack! They had a bunch of baked goods that all looks so good and I will be coming back for more! Green Matcha Cookie: The slight green coloured cookie gives a very subtle matcha flavour. It seems that the green tea flavour toned down to matcha with the nutty richness of the brown butter. The texture of the cookie was intriguing, the darkened exterior made it look like a hard crusted cookie. Biting into it was a crumbly texture. I wish it was a bit chewier and gooier, but I cannot blame the shop for this as the cookie was consumed 4 hours after purchase. Double Chocolate Chip Cookie: The texture of this cookie was the same as the matcha cookie. But the double chocolate chip cookie provided the very different experience. Where as the matcha cookie was subtle with nutty and tea flavours, I felt the double chocolate was too heavy. The hint of brown butter was still present, but its not my cup of tea. When I come back I will be trying their tarts!

From the hostess to the waitstaff. All very polite and welcoming. We observed them with other guests and they seemed very patient with the loud kids...and adults to be fair. LOL We had the big skillet both days as well as the breakfast sandwich. While there were some variances, we enjoyed both experiences. The first visit was better in my opinion - the potatoes were tender and not overcooked and my fruit cup didn't have a lot of cantaloupe. I have shared pictures of the menu as well. We had sparkling water and diet cola both times. Our beverages never ran dry. There is an upstairs that overlooks the first floor dining area. We wondered if anyone had ever spilled a beverage that landed on guests below. We could definitely see the possibility of that happening. They also had a nice patio, however, on the hotter days, not sure how enjoyable the city smell would be while trying to eat. Interesting - they only had one bathroom. So we observed a line. And there are tables right next to the door. I would avoid those seats if possible. A little too close to the restroom in my opinion. If we are in the area again, we would definitely eat here again, although they may be at the new location if we visit in the future. I look forward to seeing the upgraded features at the new location.

There was about a 20 min wait, but yhe hostess was very organized & got people seated in the order in which they arrived. Once inside we were greeted with smiles & our drink order taken. French Made has cultivated something of a local legend around its croissants, and after two…read moreconsecutive mornings arriving to an empty case, I understand the mythology. The almond croissant, when you're lucky enough to claim one before nine, delivers a genuinely impressive balance of shattering, buttery layers and a filling laced generously with almond cream, more Parisian in spirit than most bakeries attempting the same feat across this city. Even the raspberry version, when available, carries the same confident hand in the kitchen. The coffee program deserves equal praise. A well pulled latte and a properly balanced cappuccino suggest a team that treats espresso with the same seriousness as their pastry case, and it shows in the cup. Where the experience finds room to grow is in the choreography of the space itself. The room is petite, charming in its cobalt blue framed way, but the flow between ordering and pickup can feel cramped during a rush, and seating fills quickly. The patio, however, is a genuine reward, a shaded perch worth claiming on a slow afternoon. This is a cafe operating with real ambition and skill, let down only occasionally by its own popularity. Arrive early, claim a croissant while you still can, and settle onto the patio; you'll leave understanding exactly why regulars keep coming back.

Food (3.5/5) - the menu is a combination of small and large plates ideal for sharing. A cosmopolitan menu of diverse items from many different cuisines. - Baja Caesar Salad - baby romaine, corn, caesar dressing, agave bacon, croutons, grana padano, chili spice. This was pretty good, romaine was fresh and sauce not too overpowering with a slight kick to it. - Coconut Shrimp with mango salsa, lime, chipotle aioli. Also pretty good... shrimp was cooked fine and the garnishes worked with it. - Tuna Ceviche with avocado, cilantro, corn, red onions, leche de tigre, cancha, plantain. This one was average. The sashimi chunks were pretty average and the overall mix seemed to lack flavour and moistness. - Hamachi Crudo with avocado, elderflower, pickled strawberry, jalapeño, pistachio, basil, olive oil. This was one pretty bad... some of the worst hamachi I have ever had! Overly fishy and off-colour. Service (4/5) - server and assistants were friendly and generally attentive. Some lapses in check ins from time to time. Rooftop is first come, first serve so a reservation does not mean you will be seated quickly and may have to hang out in the interior bar or tables until ready. Atmosphere (4.75/5) - you really cannot top the view from Kost. It has multiple look out areas besides the patio dining area by the infinity pool. They have a raised photo pedestal which is ideal to take pictures with the Tower, Rogers Centre and lake in the background. They also have some trendy couches and sitting areas as well. The interior dining area is also pretty good with window views outside and a California vibe to it. Overall (4/5) - Yes, the food is on the average side for the price. However, it really is a great atmosphere for dining, even if sitting inside. It is a bucket list destination at a minimum and worth a repeat imo.

We also happened to be in Toronto when the weather was sunny and beautiful, so that also helped make this a nice experience. The food was well priced and light. We were able to finish most of what we ordered. The potatoes were my favorite part of the eggs Benedict, which we could sub with avocado instead of meat to make it vegetarian. They definitely could've used some more seasoning. The pancakes were good with maple syrup- I think the fruit topping was delicious. The pancakes themselves were a little on the drier side but the fruit made them tastier. The ambiance and vibe of the restaurant definitely made the experience worth it.

This place looks like a fairly typical breakfast spot, offering a good amount of seating, large menus for both breakfast and Lunch, and of course, a ton of different pancake options! I'm usually not someone who orders temporary menu items or specials, but the second I saw the S'More Toffee Lava Pancakes I almost had a heart attack, so of course, I ordered the stupid pancakes to avoid such an problem. The food didn't take too long to come out, and they looked even better in person than they did in the menu. Maybe I'm just a little over enthusiastic about these pancakes, but I can pretty confidently say these may of been the best pancakes I've ever had. They were big, fluffy, and this plate did not skimp on the toppings at all. Overall, Stacked Pancake & Breakfast has definitely become a go-to spot for me when returning to Toronto. The food here was phenomenal and even though it took us almost 30 minutes for someone to give us a bill and let us pay, the pancakes were too good for me to get hung up on that. If you need some breakfast in the Queen/Spadina area, this is the place to go!
