First time here, did not disappoint! I had the spicy whole tilapia & jollof rice; very flavorful & was not overly seasoned. Definitely will return to try other items on the menu. read more

I've said it once, and I will say it again. ONLY IN TEXAS are you actually encouraged to get food from the gas station! Lol I'm used to gas station tacos... but now gas station egusi. The location of Taste Afrik definitely threw me for a loop, but they made up for location in flavor 100%!!! When I tell you child, this food is good!!! I wanted to switch it up, as I am an egusi fanatic. I decided to order fish as opposed to chicken, beef, or goat, which are also available. And much to my delight, this fish is delish. It's falling right off the bone moist but still has great texture against the smoothness of the veggies and the flavors of the spice! The young man who took my order seemed rather serious about their strict 8pm close time, but I guess he knows black folks be late! Lol. However the young lady that processed my payment was rather sweet and talkative. Overall good service, quick preparation, awesome flavor m, and realllllly inexpensive! Oh yes, Taste Afrik, y'all can have my money, and I'll definitely be back read more

DELICIOUS!!! not 5 stars bc customer service is not the best, but it's ok with me bc the food is WORTH IT! We got the jollof rice & chicken fam Meal, which comes with just rice & 6 piece of drumsticks. I added a bowl of spinach to order. The 3 of us gulped the spinach so fast. Everything was so TASTY. They do need to update their website & social media Information. The dining room is minimal & almost bare, no special decor. We like the food so much, that the place & customer service don't matter, as long as the portion & taste stay consistent. read more

Every once and awhile you'll find a random courier on Uber Eats that is nearby a restaurant that is nowhere near you. I kept seeing people eat fufu on tiktok. I had to try it after seeing it on my tiktok 100 times. I quickly ordered when I seen Taste Afrik pop up on the UE app. I ordered the egusi beef with fufu. I also ordered the chicken with jollof rice. All for me. I'm not exactly how to describe what I ate. The fufu is like the texture of mashed potatoes. Traditionally, you use your fingers and eat the egusi that way. That is what I did while jumping up and down in my kitchen over how good this was. So good. So much flavor. The chicken was good and spicy. The jollof rice was a little bland compared to the rest. Amazing. read more

So 1st off I guess I should have read the reviews before I came here. You're absolutely correct. The waitress or cook or whoever she is, is rude as hell!!!! f I called order in and wanted fufu, efo and goat. But when I arrived I had tripe and 1 miniscule piece of goat. She said it's assorted meat & that's how the goat comes. Told her that's not what I asked for. She then says it would be an extra $4.50 for more goat. And that's on top of the $18.50 I already paid!! Are you crazy??? I'll never be back... read more

4:41pm. I am starting my review while sitting here waiting on food. The inside is very boring and the lady who took my order has no personality or customer service. And I couldn't hear her when she talked so I had to keep asking what did she say.‍ (still waiting). 4:47pm. 4:49pm.. still waiting. I notice they have a buffet behi the register, however the foil pans are empty.. 5:54pm The lady says it's ready in a low tone‍ with her back turned. There are pallets in the dining area so I'm not sure why. So, now to the food... The fish was warmed in the microwave. (It's rubbery). The rice is consistently hot throughout. And the plantains are fresh and good. I took some of the rice and put it on the plantains. And threw the fish away! So, three stars. read more

Some of the best African food in DFW. Their jollof rice is always on point. I love the fugu and the egusai soup. I wish they would open more restaurants. read more

Honestly the egusi had almost like a meat/spaghetti base to it. Absolutely not good.

I ordered off grub hub. They forgot my sausage roll. I ordered the chicken with jollof rice and spinach is eco. It was all flavorful but they gave me one small chicken leg. Chicken isn't expensive, they could at least given me 2. And for that they get 3 stars and I probably won't order again. read more

I stopped by accident. It was around 1:00 in the afternoon. No one was there. I wanted a snack and only a meat roll and beef meat pie were available. I chose the pork meat roll for $2.25. Heavy for its size. It was disappointing. Sorry. The owner was nice and we talked for a while. But on Yelp I gotta call em like I see em. read more

Nasty, nasty, nasty. These people will try to serve you hard and burnt plantains just to get rid of food from earlier in the day. Africans hate wasting food, but that is no excuse for poor quality. Please, please, please check your to go order before leaving this establishment. Also, they will be upset and just might roll their eyes when you ask for fresh plantains, a remake of cold soup, or a refund altogether. Don't take it personal, African restaurants typically have very poor customer service unless you're visibly American. I won't be returning. Someone needs to make a quality African restaurant, both good food and service. We are suffering here in the DFW area and resort to cooking everything at home sadly. read more

It took a lot for me to write this review... I really wanted to like this place. I had this as a saved place on my yelp for months so the next time I came back to Texas I was going. Well the time came and I ordered the egusi with fufu and beef. Maybe we went on a bad day, but I have to say that the food was less than subpar. Very disappointed and let down by the taste. Like I said I want to give them the benefit of the doubt so maybe it was just an off day. read more

Dude. This place is amazing!! Super friendly staff. Had a flyer on my car last might and saw they had a goat burger. Had to head there asap!! They only do the burger on the weekends after 2. So I got the grilled goat and veggies instead. The jollof (fried rice) is so good! The goat is spicy just the way I like it. And they throw in a free bottle of water. If you havent gone. Please do. Not gonna lie, the inside of the restaurant doesn't smell too appealing, but the food is amazing. They're also hosting a sale of African attire on the 10th of December. Plus they have board game night at the restaurant as well. Think that's pretty cool. I will definitely be back! read more

Overly expensive food and no taste. They have the price for jollof rice for $13.50 and the lady said it's $17.50. They should have specified it in the menu. They came and served food at my job and as a proud Nigerian, I will say the food was amazing! I got jollof rice, chicken and plantain! Everything tasted amazing. I even shared with my co worker (who is also nigerian) and she loved it as well. I will for sure come here in the future read more

So delicious!! We were looking for a place to eat some Nigerian food while in Dallas and stumbled upon this gem. It's a small place that is really better prob for take out, but they were able to accommodate our group of six. We called ahead to order our food as advised over the phone when we called to see if what they were serving that day- I advise to do so. Our group ordered an appetizer of meat pies (I would come back just for these) and scotch eggs which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For our entrees, we ordered, ofada rice and stew, asun and fried rice, chicken and jalof rice, and fried plantains. Everything exceeded our expectations! My husband, who is Nigerian, had the ofada rice and stew, which is his favorite food, and said it was the best he's had. This place is the real deal! We will definitely eat here if we find ourselves in Dallas again. I think I'll try the goat burger next time. read more

Very tasty! I'm only giving 4 stars since I haven't been to the physical restaurant yet, I just ordered off DoorDash. I got the "rice and stew" and the box of pastries. The rice and stew wasn't really stew, it's not that liquid -- it's rice with two pieces of chicken in red pepper sauce --- really delicious. They are not kidding, though, when they say spicy, so if you don't like spicy food, don't order this particular entree. The pastries are meat pies, much like empanadas -- I've only had one so far, but it was very good, and the crust is clearly made by hand with fresh ingredients. The filling on the one I have tried was ground beef, and also a bit spicy, although not overwhelmingly so. And for some reason with my DoorDash order, they threw in a free bottle of water. Not necessary, but certainly kind. I look forward to actually going to the restaurant and checking out some of their other offerings! read more

I wanted so badly to try this restaurant instead of driving to my normal Kemis kitchen. However, I can not rate on the food because I didn't eat it. I tried to order food and the lady behind the counter sneezed into her hand, wiped it on her shirt, turned back to me and asked me what I wanted. Now I know sneezes happen but it's not asking to much for someone to wash their hands after a sprinkler sneeze, the type that reaches miles! I mean I enjoy jollof rice like the next person BUT minus the "extra secret sauce. " I immediately left and won't be returning. read more

African food. Food from Africa. Never in my life would I thought to try stuff like this out. One, it's not readily available... at least to my knowledge. Two, it was in Arlington that I found this, let alone DFW. One has to admit that we like our share of "normal" food in this area and anything "exotic" that comes out is surprising since most would agree that it's a risky play. Sure there are winners like that one Ethiopian place on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth, but they are rare. So Taste-Africk. What exactly do they offer? What is the food like? Astonishingly, familiar. They have fried rice. They have eggs. They have chicken or beef. They have juice and cookies. Fried rice is called jollof rice. The egg is a Scottish egg. Meat is called stick meat. Juice is called sorrel juice. Chin chin is their version of cookies. How does this all taste then? Flavorful and interesting. Sophisticated. Presentation is great. General words though that do not provide spoilers or specific instructions on what to do. If you're that type though, get the jollof rice. I asked some friends to try this place with me now that I have been there, but they were hesitant like I was before. When the word Africa is spoken, you have to admit you imagine.. let's just say... stereotypes. On my part, I watch a lot of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and think wow, I want try EVERYTHING! So any reluctance for me is minimal if that means I can somewhat experience the show without the costly travel it involves. Who I assume is the head cook speaks very passionately about his food. He describe every dish I inquire about in detail and elaborates on the reasoning and the methodology behind his decisions on each offer. The truth of the matter is that even though that this is an African restaurant, it is more accurate to describe it as African fusion since the man with the chef's hat is in reality, a Londoner. London is one of the major finance centers of the world as well as being the capital and most populated city of England. The population sits at 8.7 million people and carries within it a diverse food culture. Yes, there's the typical British fare of fish and chips and such, but from Her colonial days, Britain brought in a lot of foreign food like we did in the United States. Think how Tex-Mex, Chinese, and recently Halal food became a part of the American diet. If you caught it, the Scottish egg being included on the menu then makes sense. In Arlington, a lot of people say that there isn't much to do or interesting things to try. Well, to those people I offer Taste-Afrik. It's an interesting time that's well worth exploring if you're willing to expand your palate beyond hamburgers and chicken fingers. The subtle wins will be different for everyone as serendipity finds its moments in the oddest details. For James, it was the jollof rice and the bell peppers in the stick meat. read more

I had the taste for beef and jollof rice, therefore I decided to give this restaurant a try.. Quite frankly, I was disappointed and will not be returning, they were extremely overpriced, rice tasted flavorless and the beef was far from tender.. the beef that is supposed to be tender was similar to chewing beef jerky.. also for one entree they'll give you a huge serving of rice and three small pieces of beef.. just an overall unpleasant experience. read more

Terrible customer service . The woman at the counter is the rudest person I've ever come across . She treated my friend and I like we were disturbing her from the start. I ordered a drink but requested for a different flavor when she brought it . She went ahead and said "do you want to go get the drink yourself??" That is some unmannerly behavior coming from a server . She continued to make us feel unwelcomed through out the period of time we spent there. I used to love this restaurant, and suggested it to some of my friends . But I am very disappointed that it is becoming like one of the other African restaurants I used to go to .. I believed it was more civilized and had a better American vibe to it .. I am never coming back here , and will tell my friends to do the same . read more

It's a nice cloudy day and what better way to compliment it than with some good ole comfort food? My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a shot and wow. Major disappointment. Like the other reviews stated the person taking our order was rude and short. We ordered efo with beef, a side of rice and one meat patty for $29. The food was nice and hot and fresh. I drove from North Arlington to Mansfield and I will be going there again! I had a great experience and will be going back. NOTE: THEY ARE NOT ON ARBROOK!
